Biggest bores in the top flight by a country mile.

Now 13 goals in 18 games. how the **** they got three in ten minutes against us I really will never work out.

It says more about us at that point than it does about them.

I'm not sure I agree with his stance that Gerrard will never become an elite manager. When you consider the attributes a player has that translate best into management, Gerrard has them all in spades.

I agree that he has a lot to prove, but I think more than anyone he has what it takes to become elite.

Very interesting that clubs are looking at Nakamba; it’s actually a tough decision on whether to let him go or not.

He’s one player who hasn’t really improved in the two years at the club, however in the last few games he’s started to show that there is a good player in there.

The decision now is, do we keep him and give him a third season to prove himself at DM? Or do we sell him for more than the £10 million fee we paid for him and use the money to upgrade.

Personally I think any bid of £10-12 million should be rejected. But anything above should be considered, as long as we have the intention of adding to that from the transfer pot and buying an upgrade at DM.

There is a reason that we bought some of these players in 2019 for low fees; and some of those players will need to be sold for profit at some point to continue our new business model.

Saying all of that, I’m not against Nakamba staying and starting games this season. He has been superb in some games, but he needs to become consistently good in games to hold onto his first team place.

Clicked on this thread for the first time in months, and this is the first comment I saw.

His potential has been threatening to come out for a while now. I'm glad he's thriving. One of the most likable players there is.

Free hits doesn't exist in competltive sport. Gerrard for sure won't put that mindset into his players.

If anything, he'll probably point out the fact we very recently slapped the everloving crap out of them, so there's no reason to go in thinking a result is impossible.

Can I be honest? I expected him to be almost as good as Grealish!

In all seriousness, I expected someone who kept the ball better and was a lot more silky. He has his attributes and positives in that he works hard and he is capable of some really intricate passes but he just gives the ball away too much and can be so wasteful.

He can go from the downright awful to the sublime in the space of 10 seconds. Unfortunately, I think it’s more bad than good atm.

I don't know if this is entirely serious given the rest of the comment, but I think we all forget how frustrating Grealish was at times. We defended him to the hilt because he was our golden boy, but he was often guilty of holding onto the ball for way too long and making baffling final decisions.

But, we forgave him all that because that's exactly the sort of thing you want your main creative force doing. Even if it doesn't always come off for him, I want to see Emi continue to do things like this because frankly, somebody has to take risks of we want to be successful. Fortune favours the brave, etc.

Nice to go into this with a bit of (probably misplaced) hope.

Beating them would be incredible but I’ll take a draw.

The beauty of it is nobody is expecting a win. We're all just looking forward to some quality. It can't really go wrong other than an absolute spanking.

  7. We talk a lot about how our players seem incapable of making quality short passes. Buendia is brilliant at it. He seems capable of threading a ball through the eye of a needle with a single touch at times. When it comes off for him, it's mesmerising to watch.

Watching his tenacity in the press is interesting too. Not many players like him are so aggressive and committed.

It'll click for him. I don't think I've ever been so sure that a player will come good as I am that he will.

I just hope 'Stevie G' doesn't dismiss our academy and continues to blood them like Smith did.

I'm hopeful because he worked in the LFC academy so hopefully he will appreciate the work Delaney and co do.

He started out as Liverpool's academy manager, so he recognises the importance at least.

Also, given the level of investment in the academy you'd expect making use of it would be a key expectation of anyone coming in.

I don't have a massive issue with it.

The problem is they are trying to push it down our throats.

Are they? It's nowhere near as prevalent as the men's game. It's certainly not shoved down anybody's throat.

  10. I don't know why, but the most irksome part of this post is the part where you implied Coronation Street is similar to Breaking Bad.

You said it may as well be a different sport, and this is probably the best way to look at it. People deride it because top WSL players are notably inferior to even average PL players due to the biological advantage men have, but that's like directly comparing Roger Federer to Serena Williams. People don't do it, because it's technically a different sport.

It's also worth noting that the technical level of the women's game is generally far lower than the men's game because of the massive disparity in funding. Over time, the women's game will become more of a spectacle as a direct result of this exposure they're enjoying.

I find it interesting. I'm enjoying watching Villa's steady improvement and I'm trying to get to know more about the sport in general. I'm at a point where I can recognise some of the bigger names, and I have a decent grasp of our best 11.
