I know this isn't in any way relevant, but their stadium is called the Tony Macaroni Arena and that made me chuckle.

Has to be Peter Withe at Rotterdam in 82.
honorable mention would be Jed Steer in the playoff semifinal 2nd leg against WBA. Or Grealish in the playoff final - captaining a club back to the Prem at Wembley has to be a good feeling even though he’s a massive rocket polisher
Frankly, Withe in Rotterdam is the only correct answer. It's arguably the single greatest moment in the club's entire history. I'd take Morley on that day too.
If they were off the table though, AEG in the play-off final.

Never doubted him for a moment. He will only improve, and the very idea of seeing him link up with Coutinho... We're very lucky.

The Stern John equaliser was in there as well I think. One of their greatest moments as well... getting a draw against us.
It's so sad. The "9 minutes of heaven" wouldn't look out of place here.

There's so much wrong with this, but for me the highlight is the short clip of the Enckleman incident. Our goalkeeper making a mistake was such a massive moment for them, they included it in their montage. That's so sad it's almost not funny.

The next Newcastle Sunderland game will be tasty though Sunderland are trying the best never to play it again.
I wonder which league game will come first
The dynamic between those two clubs is basically the same as it is between us and SHA. The vitriol between the fanbases is reaching a fever pitch, and if they ever do play each other again it'll get very ugly.
Sunderland can still get promoted this season and Newcastle are still fairly likely to get relegated. If the stars align, we could see this fixture play out next season. I have a feeling that it's going to be next season or never again, though.

It is impressive that they pay that much obsessive attention. I'm not sure I could draw their club crest if I tried - it's a pair of bollo**s in a sash isn't it?
I just went to have a look at it, and I still couldn't tell you what it is.

Gerrard confirming what many of us thought, Coutinho is not match-fit and will start from the bench.
I'm not surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case for Digne as well.

The key to AEG and always a puzzle to me as he sounds a very level confident person in his interviews. He lacks confidence on the grass though for some reason, at his best he's a mid table prem player, overall he's a Norwich level, up and down the league's. I really like him and will miss his penalty taking and those deadly 15/18 yard rockets. My favourite is the one v Everton I think, when Jack broke forward and hit a great ball into Ollie who'd mistimed his run and Jack whinged a bit, it fell to AEG who smashed it, he could have told the keeper what he was going to do in advance and he still wouldn't have saved it.
Yeah, that goal was a peach. Not many players could've hit it that sweet tbf.
And it was against Crystal Palace, I think.

I’m guessing it’s this one. You get a quick glance of “Barcelona, Aston Villa…” on the EPSN ticker at around 27:35
Mad that something so simple seems like such a huge deal.

Great chap but he is nowhere near good enough for us.
This sentimentality among our fanbase needs to stop.
Being ruthless is a part of creating a winning culture.
Gerrard is looking to clear out the dead wood and it's good to see.
For the club and the team, yes. But the fans? No. Sentimentality is perfectly fine.
In fact the whole point of the fans is to be sentimental, right? He played a huge role in getting us to where we are now, so we should remember him fondly.
The club itself should be ruthless because it needs to remain competitive, but the fans have no say at all in what the club did in the transfer market so we don't need to be ruthless.

He made a pretty big sacrifice by breaking his fast, then turned into prime Ronaldo for our biggest game in the last 5 years at least. Definitely one who should be talked about for years to come, for that alone.

We will have to see what the exact permutations of signing Olsen would be, could be that he would be second choice with Marschall as third choice allowing both Sinisalo and Steer to go out on loan.
It has to be something like that. Unless Steer is happy with his lot here, I get the feeling he'd be angling for some game time somewhere.

I genuinely hope AEG is fondly remembered by the fans. We have some absolute plums in the fanbase who refuse to acknowledge the excellent work he's done for us in the time he's been here.

I am gutted this looks like the end of Anwar at Villa.
He has been my fave player for 2 or 3 seasons now - probably down to his direct style, I love a player who will wallop in a shot from wherever. I still don't think he ever got a fair run in the side at Prem level and when he did have a few games, he scored goals.
Good luck to the kid, he is still young and there is a very good player lurking in there, I think he just needs to feel loved, ala Benteke, and never quite got the whole Villa fan base behind him.
I love the guy too, but friend, wait until you see this Phil fella we've brought in. Rumor has it he likes the odd screamer.

I watched a random Youtube video late last night to relax before going to sleep. It was an hour long video of Manhattan in the snow, shot about 5/6 days ago.
Taking a tour through snow covered streets was soothing and making me drowsy until at about 30 odd minutes in to the video the guy filming got to Times Square, panned around and the large scrolling LED news banner kept repeating "Aston Villa sign Coutinho from Barcelona".
The fact that it would be big news in Times Square woke me right up!
NSWE are earning us credibility with their ambition.
Reckon you could link the video? I'd like to see that.

Ha ha I think them 2 signings will make a big difference.
You need more quality from wide - I think from the right too. But I just think it will improve the forwards too as they will get more chances so won’t be snatching at things an players like coutiniho play that early pass which just kills defenders
Hopefully with Phil around, Buendia should get more joy on the right. Cash is pretty handy from RB on his day too, so this signing could hopefully balance the whole team.

We should stay away from Tarkowski. Burnley need all the help they can get to relegate Newcastle.
Er, I mean to survive.
