I don't have a massive issue with it.

The problem is they are trying to push it down our throats.

Are they? It's nowhere near as prevalent as the men's game. It's certainly not shoved down anybody's throat.

  2. I don't know why, but the most irksome part of this post is the part where you implied Coronation Street is similar to Breaking Bad.

You said it may as well be a different sport, and this is probably the best way to look at it. People deride it because top WSL players are notably inferior to even average PL players due to the biological advantage men have, but that's like directly comparing Roger Federer to Serena Williams. People don't do it, because it's technically a different sport.

It's also worth noting that the technical level of the women's game is generally far lower than the men's game because of the massive disparity in funding. Over time, the women's game will become more of a spectacle as a direct result of this exposure they're enjoying.

I find it interesting. I'm enjoying watching Villa's steady improvement and I'm trying to get to know more about the sport in general. I'm at a point where I can recognise some of the bigger names, and I have a decent grasp of our best 11.

  3. It shouldn't be all that surprising that he isn't seeing loads of minutes. You only have to look at the results of the JPT games involving u21 sides to see that. It was genuinely brilliant that our lads managed to win their game.

It's not a reflection of his ability. Few players his age are ready to play regularly for first teams, which is why it's so amazing whenever a teenager breaks through anywhere.

He looks good whenever he does get minutes, and the challenge of earning regular minutes will be great experience for him.

I think he has been very good with ball retention, general passing and recycling the ball, being available for the pass and keeping things ticking, i think he is almost showing himself to be a good deep lying recycler of the ball at the moment, all of this is great, a good ball retainer and recycler shouldnt be underrated, its a real skill.

On the flip side, i think he has showed very little going forward, i dont think he has been a threat going forward mostly, and the chances he has had in advanced positions he has fluffed it a little, i have seen in a couple of matches where there were through balls or defence cutting passes on, and he either didnt see it, or take the opportunity, he has also had a couple of decent/good goal scoring opportunities and hasnt taken them.

im sure i will get jumped on for having a different opinion to the people who think he has been super amazing, but such is life.

On balance, i think he has been good overall, excellent in places, but hasnt really done anything to stand out in terms of creation, defence cutting passes, scoring goals etc, he has been as a said above, consistent, a good passer, comfortable on the ball, a good recycler, which in itself is something to be happy with, we have always lacked these types of players who can do a job.

Hopefully he will continue to develop and develop a bit more of a cutting edge to his game, either that or maybe his best position is a deep lying recycler / ball retainer, at which point i would say he is developing very nicely in to that role.

I think saying he hasn't been super amazing is a fair assessment. He's been good though, and what he's brought to the team seems to have freed up Luiz and McGinn to do what they do best. For that reason, Ramsey has been a revelation.

  5. Mad as it sounds, to be 65 minutes in against Arsenal and only be 1-0 down is very impressive. The gulf in quality is clear as we essentially haven't been in their defensive third at all this half, but they're defending very very well. Hampton is playing like prime Martinez here.

Since Deeney made his debut, they’ve scored 0 goals from open play and only 1 goal overall - a Deeney consolation penalty against Fulham (4-1 loss). In the same timeframe, they’ve conceded 12.

By all accounts they were “unlucky” today, but it seems poor finishing is really costing them.

    lol.

Is it bad luck if it keeps happening?

£25m would probably be his fair value. We'd be asking for more I'd assume but with 0 goals, 0 assists to his name I'd imagine other clubs fans would feel pretty aggrieved by a £40m+asking price and probably quite rightly but up to us what price we put on them.

Who cares what other club's fans feel about anything?

He does drop into midfield a lot. His work rate is phenomenonal and his pressing is second to none.

High praise given he shares a pitch with Watkins. We have a lively front line.

TBF it's nothing radical. I mean our two best corners today were just whipped into six yard box and one of our CBs made a run and got on the end of the cross. Konsa should've scored first half.

Think at times set pieces just get overcomplicated. All that floated to far post nonsense under Lambert and short corners never seem to work for us. Nothing wrong with just whipping it into six yard box sometimes and see what happens.

I think there's a certain nuance to it myself. For example the way Watkins positioned himself to restrict De Gea's movement but moved away long before Hause touched the ball. It looked deliberate.

Football is simple in essence, but small margins make a huge difference. MacPhee's presence alone is proof of that.

  10. Buendia was the signing that excited me most right from the get go, and that hasn't changed. His quality is not in doubt at all. Once he settles and finds his role, he'll absolutely kill it for us.

No doubting the man is a great person , the poor guy is also fighting cancer at the moment he told us on previous stream,

but coming online and suggesting Leon is unhappy and villa made promises when we signed him that we are breaking , I can't see how this will benefit Leon's time here,

Leon himself has been struggling with his fitness since he arrived and still is,

the club seem to be trying to keep up good relationship with butler and is great to see butler's academy now playing at home in the villa kit that that the club has sent out their,

I'm not sure that's exactly right. He said Leon was frustrated about not playing more, and Butler told him to make an impact that cannot be ignored when he gets the chance. All players like to play as much as possible, being frustrated about not playing isn't necessarily the same as being unhappy.

Unless you're referring to a different quote that I haven't seen?

Could be a season of struggle for them? I also wonder if Jimenez will be the same player post injury?

I like Jiminez, but his attempt at a rabona today was pure comedy.

I don't think NSWE would have bought us if we were in the PL. The bought us a few hours before defaulting on a tax bill and going into administration soon after losing the playoff final. That is when AVFC was at its most vulnerable and at a very low valuation considering the assets that were up for grabs. That is not NSWE having a love for Villa, that is NSWE having an eye for a bargain

We were incredibly lucky they both happened to be looking for a football club to buy at that exact moment. When a club with PL pedigree, rich history, PL quality infrastructure already in place, a global fanbase, a solid foundation to build upon and, at the time, a potential megastar on the books to catapult the club forward, all available at a knockdown price, who could possibly turn that down?

The Brazilian FA have triggered a rule so all those called up from the Prem but didnt go will now be banned for this weekend anyway. Whether or not Argentina would have done the same I dont know, but good chance we wouldnt have been able to play the Emi’s if they never went. Crazy

If this is the case, it may explain why a compromise was reached on the first place.  Losing them for one game would've been unavoidable.
