Blues and Albion lick each others bottoms and they both hate Villa & Wolves which creates a bit of an us v them thing.
I always think the same.

I don't know why, but I really don't like Wolves. They have a horrible section of fans (present company of Andy81 excluded, seemingly ) and often clash with Blues.
Maybe that's why people have a soft spot for them but, nah, they can stay in this division thanks.
We certainly don't like Blues for sure.
I think the fact that the weather in Small Heath always seems to be a rain of house bricks has something to do with it.
We do have some horrible fans apparently, I accept that, I've never personally seen it, but heard plenty. I imagine being on the wrong side of that would colour someone's opinion.

Villa and Wolves up. Albion and Blues down and all will be right in the world.
Too right, that would be a dream.

Cheers and actually I hope you go* up for many reasons.
One big reason is to see how the relationship with Mendes plays out - it's interesting experiment into how to run a club in modern day football.
*In 2nd place ;-)
Cheers! Yeah it will be interesting if it happens. At the moment, everyone connected is benefiting

I've gotta say that with the way you spread away fans across the bottom of the Steve Bull, it's extremely difficult to get an atmosphere going.
Pretty good tactic if you can do it.
I've heard that said, and I'm sure there is something to it, but plenty of fans manage it, and Forest did make a lot of noise when they wanted 89 minutes plus.

Afternoon chaps.
Just at Birmingham New Street on my way back to London so thought I’d pop in as I was thinking of you
as I said earlier in the week, I expected a tough game and it’s what we got. Forest completely deserved their win, they packed the box, defended well and took their chances when they arrived.
Their chances were limited however and their first goal had a huge slice of luck attached to it, I really don’t think it was a corner and when the shot came in it took at least two deflections before trickling into the net.
Second goal looked a good finish however.
As for Wolves, the whole league will now be wondering how long this poor run will continue. We really look short of goals at the moment, thankfully our defence generally means we only need one goal to win a game, but it is a concern.
As someone said on here, out next two games look tricky, I really could see any combination of results as being likely. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Derby and Villa move closer to us over the next two weeks.
Villa would need to win four more games than us however to catch us, and that’s certainly possible with one of those games being against Wolves at Villa Park, but still a decent cushion for us at the moment.
I expect the sharpness to return at some point in the next month and while I’m in no way taking it for granted I expect we’ll win promotion.
I see a number of people referring to the season we were caught by Albion, and while it could happen again, we have a completely new set of coaches, players, and owners, so I don’t think it has any bearing on us now.
Finally a word on the Forest fans. They were awful. Not a peep from them until the 89th minute. South Bank was much better yesterday. Sang all game.
All the best chaps and well done on your victory.

Well if you end up flopping, you can come back and support us again
The first Premier League game I ever went to was in the Holte end against Southampton. Terrible game, Villa won 1-0 through an own goal.
One guy there turned to ask me how "We" had done against Everton, I of course had no **** clue and just mumbled something!
Edit:- having to reply to @villa4europe in here as I think your forum software has stopped me as a nasty away fan from posting anything else for a while
Agree with all of that, no one outside of Wolves / Fosun knows what the aims are. I agree, a few 10th placed finishes with some cup runs and that would be an amazing period for us.
the problem if that happens will be boredom and complacency. Fans like to see constant progression, which as you know, is impossible.

You can usually have a civilised conversation with wolves fans. I think there is a mutual respect between both clubs.
That's my experience too. Play footie with a Villa fan every week and he's great. Extended family have Holte End season tickets too.

I remember some cracking Wolves players, loved John Richards, fine striker......waggy was a fine winger.....knowlesy could play a bit.....The doug was nuts, we both had a bit of him " he was asked once about formations he replied " its 1-10 isn't it.....tongue in cheek I guess.
Stan Cullis team was some outfit too, just a bit before my interest in football
Good knowledge! That was all before my time unfortunately but everyone knew about the Doog.
I don't know much about his time at Villa, it's weird how he seems associated with Wolves as he was relatively late in his career when he joined us, but I believe is mostly associated with us, he was even buried in a Wolves coffin!
My earliest memories are mid 90s when we had Gordon Cowens playing for us, he was quality, as well as Daley (when fit) and Frogatt who I really liked. We do love wingers at Wolves, this is the first team I've seen us have without them that the crowd has taken to.
Mark McGhee tried five at the back with wing backs in the late 90s when Brian Little was doing it successfully at Villa. Didn't work for us!

@TRO @Rugeley Villa @VillaChris cheers chaps, nice of you to say, I agree with all that. Likewise, I've honestly always thought if Wolves didn't exist I'd be a Villa fan, like the culture of the club and fans as well as the obvious history. We also both have a dislike of blue and white, no matter how it's arranged
Love Wolves v Villa games, although we've only won three of em in my lifetime.

@Andy81 do you think some of your fans have lost their sense of humour a bit. I've got a few mates who are wolves fans, and I've been winding them up like ****, and they think I'm being serious. It seems some of your fans are taking themselves too seriously. Either way, good luck next season in the prem. it will be interesting to see if wolves are the real deal or not, and see how far your owner wants to push things. Hopefully we will join you, and hopefully we can push on too. It would be great for the West Midlands for two of its clubs to have decent teams holding their own in the prem.
It's hard for me to say to be honest, I live in London, and while I do know some Wolves fans here, I don't get time to spend with them to be honest.
I've heard the WM Phone in a few times and it's **** embarrassing, but having said that, I think it is for most clubs, I don't know where they find the callers on that station.
Having said that though, the confidence doesn't come from nowhere, Fosun have indicated that they mean business and it's a clear ambition of theirs to turn Wolves into a top club, so I don't think Wolves fans have just invented this.
You could be right though, I don't think we really know how to behave when our team is doing well, we're used to being the underdog, which is why the atmosphere is suffering a bit too I think (Villa at home was fantastic atmosphere wise however, as was Bristol City away).
I was born early 80s when it all turned to shit, so I've never seen a decent Wolves team until now (I hear Villa were doing ok around that time ), well, we're relatively good compared to the last few decades, as you say, the proof of the pudding will be next year. What happens in the Summer is anyone's guess I think.
I hope the fans get the underdog feeling again next year and we start to make more noise, that's half the fun.
All the best for tomorrow, I'm sure you'll do Cyrill proud.

I'm pretty buff, but I know @Dom_Wren could do with a few leg days. I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying that.
My stomach could do with losing a few lbs though!
you're an inspiration to us all

So are you guys likely to sign anyone this month? Where do you think you need strengthening?

2 wins in last 6 games, one of them being 95th min at BC.
Cold snaps here aye it
Yep, no wins and one goal in the last three games! We'll be lucky to scrape the playoffs!
In all seriousness, I am slightly concerned about the game tomorrow against Forest. I think it'll be a struggle.
If we fail to win that, then, well, it'll officially be a blip.
The whole point of having a points buffer is to handle blips though to be fair.
Winter is here!
Barnsley for you might not be an easy game either, but you should have enough to win.

ARrr... Bubbles bosted aye it me mon
It has a bit, still think we'll have enough to stay up this year though
Gutted Lambert has been snapped up to be honest!

I did expect us to win this tie. Should have won the first game really but played most of it with ten men.
For both games most of our big hitters didn't play, so it was mostly a changed side.
In away games against premier league teams this season our second string has won v Southampton, drawn with a a strong Manchester City, and lost to Swansea, so not too bad.
Alternatively we've not won in two games - crisis!
-
I thought you’d win today, but not like this!

Hopefully that be awesome if us and wolves went up. That would be hilarous
That would be perfect. Well, with Small Heath going down too it would be.

Bruce was right!!!!
Sunderland did a good job of parking the bus to be honest, but it was pretty much attack v defence the whole game, not fun to watch.
Our players lacked a bit of sharpness, but fair play to Sunderland, they got what they came for.
Crap atmosphere too in my opinion.

Most definitely, if we win tomorrow we go 3rd if they draw
I can see that happening.
Either way, a win for Villa tomorrow closes the gap on one of them at least.

Personally I agree with the Barclay End fans here. At Wolves everyone knows if you're in the South Bank, you'll need to stand up, and it only helps the atmosphere.
I agree, we do need safe standing ASAP.
So, everyone hoping for a draw tonight between Sheffield United and Bristol City I presume?

Those two villa fans are fools then. Any villa fan who has villas best interest at heart should care more about how it helps villa first then blose 2nd.
Blose have been strong at home i wouldn't be suprised if they sneak a 1-0 win at the sty and then get tonked 6-0 at molineux
I must admit I was surprised too.
I think it'll be a tough game for us, Blues will do well to keep a clean sheet though I'd say. I expect they would need to score twice to win the game.
