Irony and the internet don't really work do they.

Congratulations on winning the Championship and hope we can renew rivalries next season

I was only messing, I knew it was irony :)

I was playing on the 'best ever championship team' thing.  It's a silly thing to talk about really as teams over ten years can't really be compared.

I think your draw is a really interesting one to be honest.  I'm genuinely looking forward to the play offs this year, you can make a solid case for any of the four teams winning it.

How did you get on against Boro in the league this year?

Well congratulations on the best team ever in the Championship reaching 100 points.....:crylaugh:

We didn't mate, we only got to 99.  Thankfully we only needed 91 to win the league.

So you think you could have signed neves if you didn't have a relationship with mendes? Come on get real.

Of course we’d need a relationship with Mendes, as well as employing his former coach.

There’s nothing wrong with either thing.

I know, sorry if it came across like that, I didn't intend it too.

It's too hot in my office :)

I think a seperate issue might be around whether the rules are as good as they could be, but imagine it's hard to make anything water-tight. I think we'd all want to protect against our (or any club) being harmed by an agent's shenanigans. Wolves appear to have a good situation. I wonder if hypothetically you had a bad agent moving his players around in a way that harmed the club, whether we'd consider the rules adequate - for example, hypothetically an agent moving good players on from our club, leading to subsequent relegation. Then the same questions would apply, but kind of in a different way - should an agent have that much embedded influence?

I agree this could be worth looking at.

What I will say is, while that's a laudable aim, if Wolves were finishing the season in 15th place, Villa and Leeds wouldn't have been flagging this up for the good of Wolves.

I remember maybe 18 months to 2 years ago reading about how when Fosun buy a business, they look to build relationships with experts in the field in some way, you can see that's what they've done.

  6. I'm not being defensive, there is nothing to defend.

Wolves, like many other clubs have a relationship with an agent, it just happens to be a **** good one.

We're getting it right in the management of the club for the first time in decades, we're used to being out manoeuvred there, believe me.

So he dont work for the club yet they sign a load of clients he is involved with.

That's how it works with any club and any agent.

Does it bother you that Wolves have about the same number of players through another agency?

Genuinely, those posters and tweeters who are still unhappy about this don't look great.  People were calling for Wolves to be investigated, they have been two or three times now, everything has been shown to be above board.

I'm not arguing with you just presenting to whats happened this season. I see wolves fans mocking us more than West Brom bizarrely.

But like I said villa fans dont actually care about wolves.

Ok mate, I’m bored of it now to be honest.

We sing plenty about West Brom, but mostly just about Wolves.

Lets be honest, West Brom have been a bit easy this season where as Villa have been a threat.

We started the season singing ‘West Bromwich Albion, we’re coming for you’

then it became clear they wouldn’t be there.

Anyway, hope you’re enjoying the sun up there, well done on thumping Ipswich.

This is all a bit "he started it, no he started it", but Wolves fan were definitely singing mind the gap at Preston, in February, before all the stuff about agents and money and what have you was mentioned by anyone (which was in March). Whatever, I'm fine with it, a bit of harmless mickey taking. Why would anyone get upset about that?

    He started it

    Of course it isn't...

I don't want to argue with you, but it really isn't.

As I've said earlier in the thread, the feeling of Wolves fans towards was fine, and towards the Villa fans generally still is.  When we played you the first time it was a huge win for us, we weren't singing 'Mind the gap' then.

All of a sudden Villa staff started talking about Wolves, after that, we started, as a reaction.

That's absolute nonsense even before that happened wolves fans were all "mind the gap villa" dont know what your fans have against us. I think its more the fact we have finished above you for the last twenty years and for the first time you have finished above us the envy has taken over.

The reality is we don't actually care about wolves

    This isn't true.

Sessegnon in the running for young player of year.. he won’t beat the Man City darlings or even Harry Kane (young player??)  but shows how good he is too be even mentioned in the running

Do you think he would have been nominated if he didn’t play in London?

but yeah, well done to him, good to see some recognition outside of the premier league.

What about an interconnected 3rd party triangle all with a financial interest?

Eg. Club, Owners and a Agent!..  :D

I wouldn’t know about that. Who are you referring to? ;)

Read an interesting article about WBAs financial situation somewhere (might have been Birmingham Live), but the interesting part was a rule I was not aware of.. Apparently there is a rule where clubs cannot increase the annual wages by more than 7% per season. It really is all ridiculous, I'm not sure how this correlates to newly promoted teams as it would be ridiculous to apply this limit on them.

I think it doesn’t apply to newly promoted clubs because they’re well within FFP rules just based on the new TV revenue they generate or something like that.

That was the 3-2 game. They equalized right on the death and then Young won it in injury time. It was during the run where Jonathan Pearce asked O'Neill if he felt we could win the title and O'Neill asked 'have you been drinking?'

    Cheers!

Certainly wasn’t villa who won 4-1 at Everton .

we won there 3-2 in the last minute under mon though.

Really? Maybe it was 3-2 it was a night game on TV, MON telling Ashley Young he was a genius on the pitch afterwards.

Yes, this is the problem. We actually did very much what Citeh have done, but we did it very badly and bought the wrong players for huge fees/wages.  We spent the money required to get top 4 but spent is badly, in some cases catestrophically badly.

MON was allowed far too much freedom to overspend on dross. He would pay massive wages to players like Habib Beye and then not even put him in the squad.

I remember that season you won away at Everton 4-1 under MON.  I was sure you were going to do it.

Out of interest r.e: fitness, I noticed during our game that Wolves were really intense and up for it for the first half, or possibly part of the second half too, but then faded quite a lot.  Is that how your games have been this season?  Blitzing teams in the first hour and then being able to relax more and retain possession?

I'm finding this difficult to answer to be honest.  We do tend to take our foot off the gas a little later on during the game, but generally that's because we're winning I think and trying to conserve energy.

First half at Villa park was a great game I think, very even with some great football played.  Second half, I have to say, you gotta give it to Villa, they just pressed us well all game and took the chances that came (pretty much all of them!).

They must have put a lot into it, as we saw in the following two games you just didn't have the same energy, which is where the conservation of energy when winning might be important.

Our formation is setup to allow us this I think.  Clearly we didn't have that luxury 2nd half at Villa Park

    It’s both.

I’m pretty sure the injuries to Green, Grealish (both pretty young) and Terry (young at heart ;)) can be chalked up to bad luck. Ditto our new right back De Laet being injured for basically a year within a minute of buying him last season.

An example of our judgement being poor perhaps was rushing Kodija back, but then bad luck played it’s part in that too with him being on international duty and aggravating his injury.

I agree we have been lucky, with the timing of the injuries we've had for one thing, and who they have affected.

For example, it was fine for Boly to be injured at the start of the season, and it's probably fine for Jota to be injured now.

Also, I forgot Costa was out for a while, and hasn't got back to his old self until about three weeks ago, but Jota and Cav have taken up that slack.

Completely agree about rushing Kodja back.  I can understand the temptation however.

@Hev Sorry about that, was my mistake, I agree, Wolves and Villa isn't really a natural rivalry, and I generally wish you lot well personally.  This season while your fans are fine, your board and manager have started to annoy to be honest.

  20. With regards to our injuries, we have had less than Villa for sure, although Boly was out for some time, our new right back has been out all season, and Jota is now probably out for the rest of the season.

I think it helps a great deal that our squad is generally young, and the fitness coaches seem to really know what their doing.

Just after half time for example you see the fitness coaches doing exercises with the first team. I’ve never seen any other club do that.

Anyway, luck or judgement, it’s working.

I think he means Villa jealous of Wolves success.

    Ah, that makes sense. Apologies.

I do feel a bit bad for Villa fans. You’ve had a rough old time, and last season you saw Newcastle bounce straight back with a similar strategy to your own (Champions league winning manager signing proven championship players) and this season you’ve done well, just not quite well enough.

On top of this, you have Bruce as manager, and I think we all agree he’s ok, but you could probably do better. The whole point of him is that he knows his way to promotion, and without that he’s not looking great, and I think the pressure is getting to him as automatic looks unlikely now.

Thirdly, if you don’t go up then how much will you be able to invest next year?

still, big club and you’ll only be held down for too long, and who knows, you could still sneak 2nd or win the playoffs.

    All the best.
