The only reason their owners brought them was to use the club as a way of exploiting a loophole to make money off player transfers for their 'agency' (i.e their own back pockets) . WW is a glorified trading post.

This could be true, but I don’t think it’s likely. While they’re an investment company and clearly looking to make money by owning Wolves, a company that makes tens of millions a day looking to make a few million in a risky field as trading footballers doesn’t seem likely to me.

With regards to this transfer, I’m not personally too excited about it, if we were signing him permanently or it was a loan with a view to a buy it would make sense, but really, this move at the moment looks good for Abraham and Chelsea and not amazing for Wolves who won’t be going down and can’t play him in the cup.

Good win for Palace and Woy tonight and our old boy Ayew also got himself on the score sheet.

Absolutely shocking game. Palace slightly better team.  Showed more attacking intent.

    Whole thing was very flat.

  3. You really do need to dump Bruce.  The sooner the better really so you still have most of the season to do something.

He's clearly not going to get you the promotion you need.  No idea who you bring in however.  Dean Smith seems like an obvious choice.

Well you'll have plenty of time to work things out in training. The premier league schedule is stupid for newly promoted clubs / teams not in europe, Especially this year with 3 international breaks before xmas.

No midweek games at all in the first 4 months

    3 games in august

    4 games in september

    3 games in october

    3 games in november

Then a mad 7 game run in December.

Good job you bought all those new players, No idea how last years lot used to playing 2 games every week will cope with 13 games in 4 months...

I had the same thought when the fixtures came out.  I'm used to three games a week, and now there are sometimes three games a month.

I'm sure Bournemouth away will still get moved to 8pm on a Tuesday in January though!

They'll be midtable but no more than that, wasn't too impressed with them on Saturday. Struggled against 10 men hugely. Imagine they'll beat the brightons watfords southamptons cardiffs etc but their fans talking about Europe are in cloud cuckoo land. And Neves will surely be picked off by the big boys in January

Neves will of course leave one day, but it won't be January.

We played worse on Saturday than we generally did last season.  Players seemed nervous and Costa and Jota were absolutely lacking sharpness.

We'll improve on that performance a lot over the next month / six weeks which means we got a point not at our best coming from behind twice, which is a positive.

I really wasn't keen on having a right footer at left wing back however, that really slowed us down going forward.

Thanks Andy. For me it was always a but do friendly banter between the two clubs. I don't think it's hatred like blose and boggies

Villa vs wolves deserves to be in premier league hopefully it will in few years...

    Totally agree.

I've always thought the two kits look awesome on the pitch under flood lights too, and the atmosphere at both games last season was fantastic.

It'll happen, you're over the worst of it I think.

Wish them the best of luck. Despite their fans giving us a bit of aggro last year I still think there is a respect between both clubs unlike boggies and blose.

    That's always been my opinion.

Thought Wigan would be a tricky game for you, so wonderful three points.

You must be happy with your good start after the slow start last season cost you most likely.

He did pretty well in championship but premier league be was shite.

Yeah, that's my reservation too.  I'm hoping he's getting better with age as he's still only 22.

On the other hand, I can see him being really useful as a sub.  If we're winning a game by the odd goal in the second half, I can see him being really useful at keeping the opposition in their half end product or no end product.

  9. Excited to see him.

The Boro away game was one of the only games where our defence really struggled with a player (I know, I know, leave it yeah ;) ).  Douglas and Boly had their hand full with him.

We have some decent options going forward now.

No i understand that but if the club or the administrators accept a bid, it may not be the bid Jack wants or even Villa want, but it might be whats needed, thats all i meant.

Absolutely, this is one of the main reasons we managed to sign Neves a year ago, he's a big Porto fan but he knew Porto needed the money.

The way Wolves have done it isn’t to spend that big (although you have spent a fair bit) - it’s to have an influencing agent. I find it pretty hilarious that the EFL found everything to be completely above board because Mendes has shares in Fosun’s other subsidiary companies, but not in Wolverhampton Wanderers so that’s absolutely fine :D.

I don't think this is right.  Fosun own Wolves, Guo Guangchang, is a major shareholder in Fosun, and Guo Guangchang owns 20% of Gestifute I think.  I could be wrong about that though.

I'm obviously biased so my opinion is coloured whatever I say on the matter.  If Wolves have done wrong then they should be punished, but so far they have been looked into three times I think.

Thanks for your kind words, I hope you turn out to be the strongest midlands club in the Championship next year, I really do.

  12. 1 minute ago, bobzy said:

Well at least you’ve finally admitted that the way Fosun manoeuvred was unsporting ;)

Haha, I don't have a bloody clue mate, I just turn up and make as much noise as possible!

The main thing that became clear to me around this, which I'd never considered before this season, was how FFP is being used to maintain the status quo.

Man City were clearly the last team to sneak in before the drawbridge was raised.  A club like Villa could conceivably attract big investment, but at the moment, as I understand things, they would not be able to take advantage of that because of FFP, which seems anti-competitive to me.

Erm yeah... we're not all that bitter.

I know mate :) I've known quite a few Villa fans down here in London and they've all been great.  I have a handful in my wider family too (so I'm not completely inbred ;) ) and they're wonderful, I've always seen it as a good sporting rivalry without the nastiness of the games against the blue and white lot.

You joined in October when you knew you were gonna win the league, you don’t fool me it’s passive gloating, what don’t I like about wolves? I don’t like their fans, I don’t like how they’ve cheated their way too promotion, I don’t like their stadium, don’t like Wolverhampton, corrupt sneaky club, it will come back to bite in the end and it will be glorious.

I wish you'd have told me in October!  I absolutely did not know back then.  As I say, I've been reading for a number of years on and off.

I'm not gloating at all, but I have no way of convincing you of that, you've made your mind up.

Probably should get back to laughing at small heath in this thread.

Never liked wolves and never will, Go and gloat somewhere else, funny when wolves were shit never heard a peep from their fans, since they cheated their way up they are all over the place giving it large, dirty dodgy corrupt club, it will come crumbling down in the end, dodgy words removed

What is it about Wolves you don't like?

I'm not gloating.  I had absolutely nothing to do with how this season turned out.

I've been reading Villa Talk for years and posting here most of the season.  I came on to congratulate you after the 4-1 win and wanted you to do well when you hit second spot if you look back at my posts.

I'll continue to post on here in a respectful way whenever I like or until the mods remove me as I'm interested to see how the Championship turns out next season and how Villa's management team handle the current situation.

    Enjoy your afternoon @fifamad x

Wolves fans are loving it too. They seem to be just as pleased with us failing than themselves winning promotion. They have became completely obsessed with us for some strange reason.

This is inaccurate, and the term 'obsessed' seems to have come into use a lot this season as a defence when your club is on the end of some abuse.  Believe me the fortunes of your club this year comes nowhere near the joy we've had watching Wolves this year.

Wolves fan's focus on Villa in the second half of the season is almost entirely down to Bruce, Tony, and Wyness.  Our feelings are pretty nuanced and if you look at some Wolves forums you'll see that many of us feel bad for the Villa fans, as you are a decent bunch.

What should be clear to you now is that the people running your club really did gamble the house almost on promotion this year.  This honestly isn't me gloating, but it seems they were out thought and out manoeuvred by Fosun, and the way they dealt with this was unsporting.

Many Villa fans on this forum agree with me as you were distancing yourselves from Wyness' comments, just as Leeds fans were when their owner joined in, so it's not lost on many of us that Villa fans != Villa management.

Because of the way your management acted during the season it is quite sweet to see them in the position they find themselves, but I really do feel for Villa fans.  As I've said in the past, I quite like Villa.

On top of this, I will add, FFP is clearly bullshit and is holding you back at the moment.  I'd like to see clubs like Wolves, Villa, and other mid to upper mid sized clubs really challenge it as all it's doing is stopping you from investing and keeping the top six in the top six.

Cheers mate! Nearly had a heartattack when the ball struck the crossbar. Gotta have some luck with the margins, but overall I think we deserved it.

Absolutely. With that and the Johnson yellow that could have been a red, Boro almost found a way in, but they absolutely did not deserve anything.

Villa created the better chances and looked like the only side trying to score.

Traore looks awful to me, can’t understand the hype.

Terry vs the on loan Newcastle striker who’s name escapes me will be a good battle.
