  1. Morning chaps, don't want to be accused of disapearing after you beat us so here I am First of all, we all hate Mike Dean too. Pretty even game I thought which could have swung either way. We really only have ourselves to blame as we should have taken one of those chances, even with Martinez playing so well. Obviously Silva was unlucky when he hit the post and I was very enthused with his performance. Once he puts some muscle on he will be a decent player on that performance. Dendonker really should have scored one of his two chances though, which I remember were both too close to the keeper. We created chances, but we're lacking some belief when we shoot at the moment, this is a new attack full of young players, they'll come good. My mates were all pretty unhappy, but I took a lot from what I saw. We won't go down or make top seven this season, so it's a good time to change our system and bring these players on. Honestly I was out with my mates all day so I can't really remember much more than that, I actually forgot Moutinho was sent off until I just read it on here, I think you played better when I saw you against West Ham and lost, like someone said, that's fooball. I seem to remember being a little disapointed with Watkins on Saturday, maybe we just handled him well. Anyway, congratulations!
  2. The game at Villa Park last season probably should have ended 0-0, although Jota probably missed the best chance when your keeper made a mistake. I was at the game at Molinuex (remember thouse days?) and 2-1 flattered Villa from what I remember. I'll be honest, I'm worried about tomorrow, I think Villa will win. We're going through something of a transition period having lost our three leading goalscorers from last season (possibly the last two seasons actually), we have had a relatively big personnel change, as well as a system change, which when it works, looks very promising, however, we have made quite a few mistakes at the back recently that you may have picked up on. With regards to your expected lineup, I agree, that will be it I imagine. Rui, Marcal, Boly, Coady, Semedo, Neves, Dendonker, Moutinho, Podence, Neto, Adama. Villa have impressed me this season, even without that freak Liverpool result, which I enjoyed immensely, you've been very easy on the eye and look dangerous in most games. You were due to get a striker signing right after what feels like about ten duds, and Barkley fit in right away. I thought you were so unlucky against West Ham, a draw would have flattered them. As an aside, you'll probably be rilled up on Twitter etc this weekend, as will we I expect, I just wanted to say, I think you lot are all right!

Not the best performance, but I expected that yesterday. Happy with the clean sheet. I switched off after the Wolves game, how did you lot get on?

    Wolves

Apparently that’s the case. Will probably be a trying season

    Wolves

Yeah, I didn't see that result coming. First time we've conceded a goal or dropped a point against them since promotion so it was due I guess. Bloody horrible as I love pretty much next door to their stadium. Interesting that lots of the teams who were in Germany or Portugal at the end of the season are struggling a bit.

For all this, I absolutely understand why you all love Grealish. Player from the area, fan of the club, with a (great?) grandfather who also played for the club. Similar to why we love Bully.

    Wolves

Our Portuguese players have bought into Wolves much more than most of the British players we've had for decades before. We have more of a connection with this squad than any I can remember, the only one that comes close to me would be the 08/09 promotion squad.

I mean it's not right that it's less people than I realise. Sorry I realise this may have come across as being pedantic, wasn't my intention. I agree with you, people won't be aware of that. Most of the time we're reported to be owned by the CEO of Fosun not the company, but people won't even be aware of that.

    Wolves

That's not right, I don't think many people have even heard of Fosun.
  10. Andy81

    Wolves

Well, you may be right, but I don't think you are. Football is a risky business to be in, and to be in it to just make money on transfers seems like a stupid strategy to me, but hey ho. I would expect growing the club and brand would make more sense to them. Of course they will want to do well in the transfer market, but I just don't see that being their primary motivation for owning the club.

    Wolves

This is unlikely to be their motivation, the money Fosun make from other investments makes Wolves as a business a drop in the ocean.

    Wolves

None of our centre backs are from Portugal, so we'd need at least three.

    Wolves

We basically have no right wing backs at the moment. He's done it before but not really to much success. Nelson Semedo should be announced today so he'll take that spot.

    Wolves

Yeah City were scary first half. We probably should have scored more than one really, but we couldn't live with them. Adama was bloody awful too defensively. Constantly putting us under pressure. Still a decent start, and don't worry, I'm minding that gap

We’re four players in and two out at the moment, in terms of first team anyway. Sounds like we will be bringing players in from Nuno’s comments today. Just wait and see now! You're right though, the squad is too small. He’s trying to rebalance it for a new approach. It’ll be an interesting season for sure.

@Jimzk5 Jota wasn't a full International when he joined us. He was someone Altetico Madrid signed that wasn’t good enough for them and was out on loan to Porto, playing under Nuno. The move to Wolves did make sense. Nuno obviously liked him and he wasn’t rated by his parent club. You’re saying a player of his calibre judging by how he seems to us all now, but at the time he was a 20 year old fringe player. Im gutted about this, £45m is a good price, but when it clicks for him he’ll be world class I think. Again, this is the model, happy to trust the club.

You don't know it's the first sniff to be fair. He hasn't been starting for a while, and we knew this would be a summer of change. Not over the moon losing him as he has been amazing for us, but club deserve our trust.

Have to settle for the Everton cup again I guess...

    Wolves

Yeah, bloody embarrassing result that, fair play to Stoke. We beat them away while in the championship and they were in the Premier League the season before promotion so what goes around... Quite annoying as well given we would have had Gillingham at home in the next round, and with no Europe this season would have had a decent shot at it. Grealish's volley was lovely the other night by the way, decent game that. Don't know what happened with Jota, but his girlfriend is pregnant so possibly to do with that. Stoke is never a nice game for anyone, and it's a mixed bag for us, we do ok generally, I don't think either side really has the upper hand. Albion really tend to struggle against them, or at least they did.

    Wolves

That would amazing after they’ve structured football for years to give themselves an unfair advantage

    Wolves

Mendes was helping Wolves before Nuno came along, he has more reason to help the club than his mate. We've only signed one champions league player this window, and I don't think a 31 year old full back from Lyon raises too many eyebrows. The move for the two young players from Porto makes sense for them, they've seen other young players like Jota, Neto, and Neves come along and improve as players, so you can see why it would be viewed as a good career move. That agent fee does seem high, but I know nothing about that stuff. Seems like every one is winning from the deals to me, Wolves improve their squad, Porto get the cash they need to comply with FFP, and the players move forward in their careers.

We need more goals, especially after losing Doherty so I'm pleased. Porto fans when we went to Braga were raving about him.
