  1. Absolutely. That was all well before my time. I was born and it all turned to shit for Wolves and Villa were Champions of Europe the year after To be honest though, the only thing I can actually remember Villa winning was the league cup 3-0 against Leeds in 97. That Savo goal was something else. Edit:- I think you knocked us out that year actually 1-0 at Villa Park. The late Dean Richards played a blinder for us.
  2. Cheers mate, appreciated and likewise! It's bothered me a bit this season how on Twitter the Wolves and Villa fans who act like arseholes tend to get all the attention and give an incorrect reflection of the two clubs. There's a decent Villa fan that's started to post on MolMix under the name AndyGray but I think he uses the other Villa forum, Heroes and Villans I think it is.
  3. I can't stand either of em mate! I just hope Small Heath does everyone a favour and turn to shit again so this can be the perfect season. By the way, I would upvote a load of posts on here too, but I'm unable to, just so you know Oh, and thanks for being a thoroughly decent bunch, I'll piss off if I'm posting too much!
  4. Yeah, I'd agree we'd be rivals, I hope we are as that'll probably see us both rising together, but I can't ever see the hate we have for the blue and white duo emerging.
  5. Totally agree. I can't see anything other than Wolves and Villa taking the two spots now, although I appreciate it's a bit more touch-and-go for Villa. I think your form and injuries have come good at just the right time. By the way, I think there are some restrictions as to when I can post on this board, so if I go quiet, it's just because I think I'm only allowed so many posts in a certain period.
  6. A long time ago in a galaxy far far away If you consider we won the European Cup before it was even invented () our records in the 20th Century isn't too dissimilar. No one is suggesting Villa aren't the bigger club, and we've been crap for 35 years, but before that it was a lot closer.
  7. Me too mate, as I’ve said elsewhere I really do like and respect Villa. I have to be honest though, I want us to win the league, it’d feel like a bit of a failure at this point to not take the title. You are right too, this challenge from Villa will make the rest of the season interesting. I don’t think we’ll reach Reading’s 106. We do have four tough games in Villa, Fulham, Cardiff, and Derby too. Three of those are away from home, so there potentially is your 12 points. It’s unlikely we’ll lose all four, but we probably won’t win them all either.
  8. Yeah I think I saw that game. 2-0 to villa on TV? preston had loads of injuries at the time I think. I saw them play well against us at home, but I’m happy Hugill won’t be playing. Our sold out following should help. How are you feeling about Villa today?
  9. Absolute pleasure. Have a good day. I'm kinda worried about Preston away for us to be honest.
  10. The mind the gap thing has been blown up, the media, especially the Birmingham Mail seems to be trying to manufacture a rivalry between Wolves and Villa that isn’t really there. Clearly we’re promotion rivals but that’s as far as it goes for me. At various parts of the season the noise from Villa Park has felt like it’s believed that it’s just a matter of time before you catch us, the ‘mind the gap’ chant is more a celebration that we really don’t think we’ll be caught. Its a catchy song, but I don’t think we’ll be singing anything about Villa after this season as we do about Albion regardless of the division we’re in. I can’t think of a team playing 4-1-4-1 against us off the top of my head to be honest, so that will be interesting. You were playing 442 in the first fixture. I’ve been tempted to go to Fulham to watch you today, do you know if it’s sold out?
  11. That's a fair point, some teams have done well by pressuring our full backs. Forest beat us by packing their box and getting a bit of fortune at the other end, which I don't think a home team could really do. Last weekend however QPR first half tried to put pressure on as you suggest and we were getting in behind them at will. Villa are clearly a better side than QPR however.
  12. In the 90s one of our players stole a double decker bus. Always in our shadow
  13. Will make for a good game! Thought about you lot earlier, was on the train and saw a Small Heath fan, said "Bad luck last weekend" (wasn't bad luck, they were shite, but you know) anyway, he just gave a goofy smile, think he was a spanner short of a full toolbox.
  14. We softened em up for you Actually, about Bristol City, everyone said January would kill them and so it proved. The Villa v Wolves game promises to be a classic. I mean no disrespect, the Villa away and Fulham away games for us will probably be our toughest of the games left and we could very well come away from those games with zero points. I just think back to the game at Molineux and at the time Villa were on a great run and very confident of the three points from what I remember. You set up to play a high back line and it was your undoing. I really do think our best chance will be if Villa come at us, as you know, the pace of our forwards on the break will cause problems if there is space to run into. Our one issue may be if Neves is suspended for that game as I believe he is only one booking away from a two match ban. Have fun tomorrow! Great away day, I have my tickets for Fulham away the following week.
  15. I honestly hope Villa approach the game in the manner you suggest.
  16. That guy who signed for you for 6 hours before going to Everton? Didn't he think you were in Bolton or something?!
  17. You'd be amazed, I saw someone in a Small Heath scarf on the circle line last week. I washed my hands as soon as I got to work. There was also a couple when I watched our game with them in London. Well done on your win, fully deserved, and a great couple of goals.

Haha! It's been a bad few years for you, I can understand that! You'll come back stronger I think. The one thing about Villa I've been wondering for a while, and maybe you guys have a view, is will the Dr put in some of his own money (or has he already, purchase of the club aside) or will you always be living off parachute payments and TV money?

Ah, but when the figure was agreed Jota was unproven in the Championship Ok, he was playing in the Champions League, but as he showed the other week, he can't do it on a wet Saturday in Barnsley, £10m is a bit expensive if anything. Over the moon with this, I was a little worried he'd be on his way. Great win for you lot last night with Derby dropping points. What a strike too! You gotta be starting to believe now right?

    Wolves

They haven't actually signed him yet, just said they will be. It'll happen July 1st I think.
  21. I really like the current one, but the one @Sam3773 posted is lovely. That with a star just above would work really well I think. Never liked the 92 one personally.
  22. I'm surprised some people don't like the current Villa badge, I think it's nice and clean and clearly Villa.
