semantics, he's not the CEO. he's the "President of Business Operations". That title is interesting, because to me he is therefore mostly responsible for any financial decisions the club makes, but other things don't fall under his remit (unless it is a business decision". Splitting up Purslow's responsibilities between Unai, Monchi, & Heck was an interesting choice though tbf.

At what point did Purslow have responsibility for coaching and selecting the first team?

Based on zero evidence or quotes from Dean. As was stated earlier by @Keyblade Sanson was being played by Deano after he joined, then got injured and was just coming back fit when Dean was sacked.

So would you say that the sacking of Dean and the appointment of SG was  big factor in Morgan leaving? Or does it go further than that? If so are the club ultimately to blame?

I would be very surprised if that's the case. The club have stated it's not something they are considering and have further stated that they never see us leaving Villa Park.

It's increasingly odd to me that the club backed out of plans to develop a single stand on the basis that they were too ambitious and the fanbase have taken that disappointment to mean not ambitious enough. The reaction borders on the peculiar.

"We're not buying a new Ford Focus this year, the old one is perfectly suitable for the driving we're doing".

"Wait, you mean....we're buying a Ferrari?"

An Aston Martin would be more appropriate. In claret and blue too please none of that red rubbish here thank you very much!

I don’t really. Just tongue in cheek

I’ve been on holiday there with my , now wife and we both loved it, I’ve also st various times won contracts down there and had a good time too, so it’s fair to say I like that part of the world, I’ve no real opinion on Marcus Trethscothic to be honest, all I know of him is that he was a batsman for England and whilst fairly average if he represented his country he couldn’t have been too bad, almost certainly a better batsman than me, that’s for sure!!

  5. What is the site,  that Villa Park sits on, worth without Villa Park, ok to most of us without Villa, it’s worth naff all but it must have some value? If, as I suspect, this is fairly low we could “gift” it to the council, in exchange for something that is of a higher intrinsic value to us. Over all I’d say it’s all up on the air as far as income is concerned bums on seats is largely not worth what it was but the spectacle of a huge crowd is important to the viewing public and probably to the players too, home advantage is still important. So I think the view of Heck and the owners is probably that a new big super stadium is a valuable goal in terms of image but needs to bring in money more often thsn 19 times a year and possibly local and national government are important to get on board when considering the bigger picture. CL football in the city of Birmingham ultimately needs to be an attractive proposition for the whole of the midlands area and there’s only one way to get that, which is of course Villa being successful on the pitch and then us exploiting that commercially, which is probably through TV, wether we like it or not. It’s sadly no longer 1981or 82. Villa Park is a wonderful old stadium as a whole and is liked by many fans other than us but it needs to be modernised and let’s be honest the only stand we really care about is the Holte, which id like to think in any development it will be considered and remain a huge stand that is kept separate from the rest of the stadium, hopefully a single terrace that scares the living daylights out of the opposition players and fans alike. So success on the pitch is, as always massively important for lots of reasons, some measured in the heart but equally plenty in the accounts. Unless the PL move the goal posts again. Although I’m pretty sure £ will play a huge role wherever ths goal posts are put! To build a lasting legacy NAS and Wes probably have to rebuild the city of Birmingham or at least take plenty of credit for doing so. I’m pretty sure this uncertainty is what’s really holding up the north stand plans. If we don’t have a new super stadium in the midlands then someone else will either in the midlands or not! Adidas Villa Park in Birmingham the heart of England homebto the European Champions and GB Athletics etc…………also the Tom Hanks Multiplx experience and the biggest concert venue in Europe where you can visit The Ozzy Zone and it the head off a Blue Nose in front of a huge audience!  Ok the last one might not get council approval! But you get my drift!

I’ve nothing against any region of Sumerset, in fact along with Cornwall it’s a lovely part of the country. Brimming with old Villans too!!

It is hearsay so no case should be based on this. However this is social media where clearly substantiated truth seems to be of little importance. As the old saying goes “don’t spoil a good story by limiting yourself to truth and fact”.

I’m playing catch up could anyone enlighten me as to what’s going on/ been said?

    If that's true that's insane.

True but putting it in context that’ll probably the only game they ever go to and probably weren’t sure which team they we supporting anyway and probably went home disappointed because Becham wasn’t playing and Posh wasn’t even there signing autographs!

Perhaps we shouldn’t celebrate anything anymore. Qualification for the CL should be very mutated until we’ve actually won the final by two or three goals, once they’ve all been confirmed by var and not before. Careful not to celebrate winning any games in the Europa conference unless it’s the final after proper consideration from VAR and an independent enquiry has cleared is for full celebrations to commence!

    The game’s gone!!!!

VAR along with most of the authority’s various generally ridiculous rule changes have slowly ruined the game thst we all used to enjoy, it seems that some of the  posters on VT have taken it to a different level of misery now.

I think the problem for some is that we aren't allowed to celebrate anything until the final whistle has gone and we can be secure in our celebrations, or something equally stupid.

It’s always been the same with them, right back to the eighties in my memory. Presumably they were known to be away fans because they made it obvious. Most supporters of away teams in the home stands, watch the game and shut up, but not this lot and it’s not restricted to Villa Park.

Would administering a bloody good hiding be considered to be too 70s/80s now?

Behind the Arsenal 10 man goal though. But that wasnt even picked as one of the 10 best in December.

Have you supported Arsenal for long? I tend to generally only watch The Villa, admittedly with claret and blue tainted glasses though.

Keepers rarely line up centrally on free kicks. It’s why you have a wall.

You have to trust that the wall will protect that side of the goal and you guard the other side of the goal.

A more central position probably would have given him a better chance of saving it, but then the other side of his goal is completely exposed. At this level a player could just drill the ball into the top corner. He also runs the risk of being completely unsighted because he’d be stood behind his own wall.

You have to accept that if someone puts it in the postage stamp then they’re going to score. It’s a percentage game

Having occasionally played in goal for our cobbled together indoor 5 a side team in a lunchtime league at the Villa Leisure centre, many years ago, I feel qualified enough to completely agree with you on this!

The simple non arguable fact is that we were once the champions of Europe, they have changed the competition’s name and format but thevaim is still the same, which is to be crowned the champions of Europe, just as winning the PL still makes you the champions of England the same as it did in 1981. UTV!!!!!

If there’s anything that stands out that’s different, it’s thst in 1982 to qualify for the premier competition in Europe you had to be the champions of your own country, whereas now to qualify for wheat is ironically called the Champions League you just have to have done quite well either in the league or won a lesser European competition but not actually be Champions of your own country. I’m not particularly critical of how the qualification is done, as I’ve always thought that it was harder to win the UEFA cup against a range of quality teams throughout Europe rather than just the best team in a wide range of teams from countries who play in leagues of varying quality. It’s all about the dosh of course! Cynical me??

But it would be our first CL campaign. Yes it's the same competition, but the CL era, like the Premier League era, was a new chapter in football and whether we like it or not the exposure that came with it was a huge change.

But either way, phrase it as "our first european cup campaign for 42 years" if you like. The sentiment in my post is the same
