    Ah shit, I just read the article and nothing actually substantial or concrete about Digne going anywhere… just a mention of possible Saudi interest… no offers or enquiries. We don’t need (or maybe even want) Acuna if Digne can’t be shifted…

    Yep… commented similarly in the Mings thread… it’s good to not be overly reliant on individuals and have a better and more effective team overall.. which is what Unai has done really… absolutely transformed us. I don’t think we recovered from loss of JG before that though… Unai will sort it out… the way he recovered us last season after what felt like a series of setbacks under his predecessor was remarkable… Should give us all hope and optimism, despite any stumbles/upsets.. The man actually knows what he’s doing…

    I think Zaniolo may be able to cover for Ollie… versatile attacker who can dribble and finish with aplomb… See his hat trick for Roma against Bodo Glimt… a nice demonstration. Best goals per minute record in Turkish league… I’m hopeful anyway… adds to our attacking threat…

    Only reason to really… but I’d always assumed we’d bring in a younger, more long term option to eventually succeed Moreno in that case. Injuries have really shook us and affected our plans though… Maybe we’re forced to implement some short term fixes or plug some gaps… hope not but… I trust Unai and Monchi…

    I think it’s better if Digne holds back and focusses on defending… he doesn’t have anywhere near enough the speed, threat, mobility that Moreno offers… I don’t see the point of launching too many crosses into the box either… we’re much better and effective in our build up and passing patterns by keeping the ball on the ground and breaking through the opposition (although Buendia is a real loss in this sense but we still have a lot of quality)… Let Diaby run riot… McGinn to help solidify midfield and bring the tenacity and aggression (completely and unusually absent vs Newcastle… a rare case for him). Cash needs challenging, far too comfortable. Doesn’t seem to have adapted to our defensive strategy and offside trap… Something is wrong with Leon… body language is off and he seems exhausted. Take him out of the firing line. I’m really getting excited at the threat Zaniolo could pose and he can carry the ball for us as well as finish off chances, more potently than Ollie perhaps… and/or set him up for easier opportunities…

    We do have other leaders in the squad, the doubts that have been raised are more concerning the defence. Who is going to lead and organise that department? There will be an adjustment period… but I really do have faith in a Pau and Diego partnership and they are both leaders and have consistently competed at much higher levels than both Mings and Konsa… We’l need to be patient but they could be brilliant… just hope Diego has fully recovered from his injury troubles - he could actually replace Ty and give us what we miss… Huge amount of top level experience… I think Pau was (potentially) seen as an upgrade and our future anyway… We’re just forced to speed up the process in terms of “future proofing” our defence… and not being so reliant on Ty as we always have been…

Watkins Zaniolo Diaby Luiz Kamara McGinn Digne Pau Carlos Konsa Could switch McGinn and Diaby… persist with John on the left side if Moussa prefers to cut in otherwise this could work… We will have a fair few left footers in the squad… although Ty.. Need to manage without Moreno and Ramsey for now… Stop playing Bailey. Tielemans if Kamara is still off it… I think we could possibly do with a powerhouse option in midfield to help solidify and strengthen us. Some added steel and composure… Cash needs major competition. Konsa gives us that added defensive cover but really needs to focus on CB now but I want to see the Pau and Carlos partnership shine… More importantly - Pau needs to stick at LCB. No LB or hybrid business for him. Nico should hopefully make us more potent and dangerous in attack and add some extra ball carrying ability, could be a great outlet for us… Diaby playing more as a winger than a forward now… keep Leon out of the firing line until he can get his head and body together…

    Can’t lie, I’m not really keen on the Acuna signing… Unless it’s a bargain fee and he can make a good contribution… but… he’s 31… and a left back… Obviously support and back it if/when he signs… But… I think we should be free to express thoughts, feelings and opinions here… whether positive or negative… Don’t just want to blindly endorse and praise everything… it has to make sense and have appeal… Not exactly keen but… it doesn’t enthuse or excite me and the player has little to no longevity… I wonder how we move these players on when they have less to offer and get older… We’re already struggling to offload players as is… and have been for a long while… Long term effect and contribution over short term for me… But yeah, what do I know? Just how I feel about such a move… Long term moves > short term fixes

    The only thing that could delight me after this and help overcome the hurt and anguish over Ty and Emi’s injuries is bringing his friend along too (let me dream)… would help each other settle more easily and quickly too (I know, I know, it’s a fantasy )…

    I like the way we have negotiated and structured the deal… in the past we would have just splashed the cash and overpaid on fee and wages with little to no consideration or foresight and, going off our track record or luck in the past, would have paid for it dearly and it would have cost us in more ways than one… Hopefully this works out incredibly well, but we’ve put in certain safeguards or mitigated some risk here… Nice one Monchi, now get cracking on some more deals

    Just watching footage/highlights of him again… would it be fair to say that he’s a better dribbler and better or more natural finisher than anyone we currently have at the club? Looks so technically gifted… * Would he end up being the most naturally talented player at the club? Maybe even more so than Coutinho, who is well and truly past his best (and never really shown anything resembling that) and can’t even go on decent runs anymore… slowed down massively and barely challenges the keeper with his shots… Phil going the other way would have actually made sense, rebuild himself at a lower level… * Nico appears to look that way anyway… and I’m crazy excited again if that’s the case In terms of “risk”… are we only talking about injuries here? Because, there don’t appear to be any other genuine negative factors… mitigating/extenuating reasons for questions over his attitude or mental issues (treated like shit at Roma, by extremist fans and the alway spiky and arrogant Mourinho - only a robot would not have been affected by that, the kid seemed to have been used n abused really)… I’ve actually seen some very positive comments and stuff from certain Gala fans, including how he helped out in difficult times (earthquake, supplies for the homeless)… Best goals per minute ratio in Turkish league… Just seems like someone who wants to get on and enjoy his football and move on from the crap of the past… he’s chosen an excellent destination… I hope and feel he will thrive under Unai’s management…

    What I’ve heard about him is that he’s a real attacking threat but… he’s poor or lacking defensively… So… not really what we need.
