Man City are letting Bruno Zucculini out on loan again. I think he would be a great DM for us in the summer.
Granted I only know him from FM.

Yeah no chance of Newcastle going down with the signings they have made.
Only way they're down is if it is too many signings and they can't get them to settle. But I reckon thye should have enough to overtake one of the three teams above them. They're only four points off 15th and have signed some decent players.

Bbc announced that Seydou Doumbia to Newcastle has now been confirmed.

If we can get £10m for him I will know that football is well and truly broken.

Jordan Rhodes on the move today apparently. Please let it be to us.
Apparently he wants £80k a week plus bonuses. Can't see us paying that.
-
With his positioning I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the pitch at the Stadium of Light even if we don't sell him.

DDiD: don't blame you. I totally understand the quandary: you support the team wearing the shirt. Lerner should not confuse this with support for his shocking running of affairs atm.
Was watching the Championship Show on Channel 5 this morning (first time ever and in prep for next season) and they highlighted a banner displayed by the Charlton fans that I thought could also be aimed at Villa.
'Support the team!
Not the regime!'

Is there such thing as a Vote of No Confidence available? Not just for Lerner but the whole board?
What power does the 'fanbase' hold?
From a legal point of view not much as we are stakeholders not shareholders.

Contracts for Seydou Doumbia were submitted to the FA yesterday morning. Assuming no work permit issues this will be confirmed shortly. Managed to get it at 3/1 shortly after I had confirmation, bet victor took down the market today though Should be a decent signing for us, I always remember him being great on Fifa and his record at CSKA was very decent.
Can they double check his birth certificate as he does not look like he is 28 years old.

I can't see anyone taking him off us, isn't he on £65k a week
This will drop when we get relegated.

Jordan Rhodes off to Middlesbrough for £9m.

Sure, it's really easy, Jakupovic is a dual Bosnian/Swiss citizen, and therefore doesn't need a work permit due to his Swiss passport. Do I win anything?

What grounds do you need to just sack a player?
I mean they have to turn up and stay at training at least, not to be in a breach of contact?
He has been training with the under 21s but is apparently one of the last to arrive and first to leave. He will be doing his contractual obligations though.

Cmon! That's horrific "journalism"
There's absolutely nothing other than Twitter rumours to suggest we ever offered vidic anything
Personally I'd be more disappointed if we did offer him a contract, if we thought vidic was the answer then we really are ****
The metro news website is pretty far from journalism, it's mainly people just reposting whatever is trending online. I think most of their contributors are unpaid bloggers.
Not a dig at the webpage as I look at it most days but I wouldn't ever put much stock in their news reports.

Any team that will struggle in that league and give us a better shot of coming back up. I think that Sunderland would struggle and possibly Bournemouth. I think a lot of their success is down to having a settled squad and confidence from past promotions; relegation would knock their confidence a bit and I can see a lot of their players trying to force a move back up after tasting the Premiership.
That being said I would absolutely love it if by some miracle Chelsea went down.

thats the way it is. Big teams offer big money and we are no longer a big team but its been like that for too long now
For our older fans.
And for our slightly younger fans.

I would say 7 goals and maybe 13 yellow cards he has left for us
And about 18 more injuries.
That being said I would absolutely love to be proved wrong on him and for him to play his heart out and fire us to safety. I think however I am more likely to win £500m on the US powerball and become the next owner of Villa.

Just now, Zatman said:
true but they will be getting more money than they would at Villa
This is what I struggle to accept. How are Bournemouth and Norwich offering a better financial package then we are?
I know the (likely) answer but I cannot accept it.

footballers dont think long term though, a footballers career is short and they dont want to play in Championship unless they are getting a lot of money like West Ham did with Nolan
A high proportion of the players that the teams above us have signed are all likely to be playing in the Championship next season.

Sorry just wanted to use a star wars quote. Anyway I'm off to Tosche station to pick up some power converters.
Sorry but didn't recognise it or know who Uncle Owen was until you mentioned Star Wars. At the risk of completely derailing this thread and starting an internet war I'll admit that I never understood what the fuss was about with the films. My wife bought me the box set years ago and it stayed in its plastic wrapping until the day I charity shopped it.

I struggle to accept that we cannot convince people that we are a more suitable long term prospect than Sunderland, Norwich or Bournemouth. Yes, they are ahead of us on points but they are all still very likely to go down. We should be telling players that we have not accepted relegation and that we are going to try and escape and that all we need is one or two key signings to finish games off. We should also be able to offer better wages and an increased likelihood of promotion IF we do go down.

Without wanting to sound all uncle Owen, it's only one more season.
He is here until July 2018, that's two and a half more years.

Thats the issue I have. There is not one logical argument for this inactivity not one that trumps the fact that we are a **** football club for **** sake.
Surely at the very least we should be bringing in a few players that would do well in the Championship. Add a bit of depth to the current squad, keep Remi and the fans happy and give the new players six months to settle so that we hit the ground running next season.

Austin. Afobe
Khazri. Amartey Saivet. Townsend
Cissokho Kone. Okore Byram
Valdes
What could have been. Not saying all these players are better then what we currently have or worth what was paid for them or that they would have joined us but the fact that we haven't improved a single position when we could have had basically a whole new team is depressing.
