I agree. That seems to be what he's saying if people can stop grinding their teeth for 5 seconds.
He's not syaing we'll never spend again. he's saying if we spend we need to make sure we spend it properly and not waste it.
Just the other day someone posted in the Lerner thread showing how much money we've wasted and everybody lolled and joked about it.
Now we have someone saying we want to make sure that doesn't happen and everyone is up in arms about it.
I genuinely think this guy could have given a Martin Luther King greatest speech of all time and this thread would still be full of vitriol. It doesn't matter what he says, a large part of the fanbase have lost so much faith with anyone at the club that it will fall on deaf ears.
I get it. Times are tough, and I understand why people would have very little faith in the people running this club.
But I like to think we can at least give someone a chance before we start throwing embarrassing personal insults at people.
I'll say it again, this thread is an embarrassment. It makes me cringe.
As I said above I think he needs guidance on dealing with sports media. The headline article on bbc sport is now about Villa and Hollis talking to Pat Murphy. If you ignore his comments about Lerner he does say some valid points but the headline still reads "Villa in Crisis - new chairman".

Apparently there are rumours on Twitter that the board have pulled the plug on the January transfer budget and Remi is livid.
Hopefully that's just nonsense and we are going to actually sign a player or two.

Do you think Leicester's will be able to maintain their title challenge until the end of the season?
I don't think they will even make the top four. They lack squad depth, have had a lot of luck and teams appear to have started to figure them out and the traditional top teams will find another gear. They will probably drop down to sixth like Villa did in 98/99.

I can't agree with that. The bigger the game, the bigger the occasion the more pressure players will feel. A cup final against a world class team is going to generate more pressure on a player than a home game agaisnt a non league team.
You mean something like an FA cup final against Arsenal; watched by the future king (who supposedly supports the team you play for), about 90,000 people in the stadium, millions and millions of people at home and also the 'Lesser Spotted Lerner'.
I'm sure our players would do us proud.
Apologies to anyone who had temporary forgotten that horrible day.

I think this guy needs some serious instructions on how to deal with the media, especially with regards to sports journalists looking for a story and alienating the fanbase. Every statement is worse then the last. I'm trying to look through it to see a positive but I can't. He seems to have latched on to the idea that success in football doesnt require money because Leicester are doing well this year. A team who very nearly got relegated last year and yes they are having a great year but I very much doubt they will finish as high up as they are now. They are also the exception and not the norm. I seriously hope this is just hullabaloo and that Garde is actually given the funds and help that he needs and is not handcuffed.

We should be able to attract Under Armour for next season if we stay up. Come on Tom Fox.
Can you please ask Tom Fox to sign off buying a decent striker?

Cheeky bid for Mascherano? What's the extradition agreement with Spain?

Looking at thier wiki page it doesn't read as an overly time consuming job; maybe he could still attend board meetings?
Maybe he lives on Jersey and wants to help out?

Shame we couldn't have got Victor Valdes on loan.
Apparently Newcastle enquired about loaning him but LVG refused to let him go to a team in the UK.

What, the small island in the English channel?
Of their football team, not of the island as a whole. Although I havent actually read the article yet so who knows...

Yeah, it's pretty unusual for players to get their contract terminated mid-season if they're staying in Europe. I suspect he will end up in the MLS.
Don't Inter play a deep defensive line? If Vidic cannot work in that system than his legs being gone might not be the issue.

Brian Little has just become Jersey's manager. Guess he will not be joining the board then.

DailyMail reckon were still trying to do the deal for him and the Kalinic and Debuchy on loan.
I'm happy that we appear to be trying to sort the defence out, but I hope we are looking at attacking players too. Garde mentioned Loic Remy a few weeks ago but havent really seen anything since then.

The Express has an article saying Lerner wants Villa to become one of the best run clubs in the country and will not sell until it is. Seeing as he has managed the club into its current state I guess we are stuck with him for a while.

Has this happened yet?? Come on already!! I just want a signing!! God I wish I was more patient.
I think it will be waiting on work permit approval before being officially confirmed.

Or, they've offered him more money.
Or, a permanent deal when we are only offering a loan.

"I was always injured".
Always makes me laugh when I see him on MOTD talking about playing with Villa players when he was here. Does three games count?

What's he posted now?

He's impressively sensible, and he's got a good head on his shoulders; he was about the only player in the first half actively seeking out responsibility. It was Lyden trying to take quick throws, trying to support Ayew and keeping Richards where he was supposed to be. He didn't do anything outstanding with the ball, but he didn't do anything stupid defensively either - which in so far as Villa right backs go this season means he had a good debut.
He was bossing Richards about on his positioning? That's a good sign.

I had 1 player left to play last night's game. Ashley Williams One goal and one clean sheet in a 1-0 win + 3 bonus points. 15pts for a £4.8m centreback. Booya.
I picked Williams up a few weeks ago, very low price imo. Swansea are on a poor run but for 4.8m he is worth the risk.

While we are discussing who we aren't going to sign lets please keep it friendly and remember we are all cursed with the same affliction in supporting this rabble with the most inappropriate motto in football.
So.... Messi anyone?
To late on Messi, papers today say Bojan has convinced him to join Stoke ;-)
He says it cant be worse than the horrible place he played in Argentina as a kid.

Has Richards actually started a game at RB for us yet? My memory fails me.
The cup game against Wycombe where he scored.

I missed the boat on the VT league but am the 217th best Villa fan playing on 1,239 points. Where would that put me on the VT league?

I imagine he is on relatively high wages within the club. If he isn't going to play then get him out, freeing up transfer funds, wages and a place in the 25 man squad.

Working in Leeds and seeing the state of their fan base, how broken down they are and almost accepting that their fate is not going to change anytime soon.
Most of them left anger behind years ago as they know it was futile. They now just look depressed.
I dread to think that Villa could head this way.
