Lacazette turned down Newcastle as he wants Champions League football. Maybe we could confuse him with Championship League Football.

I mentioned this in the main transfer thread and think you are right. He should not be disregarded, but not relied upon. He could still have an impact as a sub in the last 15 mins of a game.
If Garde can get Gabby motivated and giving 100% then he definitely has something to offer, especially now we are short of strikers. But if he isn't interested then he shouldn't be on the pitch.

So QPR got 64 mill for finishing bottom last year - if we get that this year then £40 mill parachute payment the following year, we're not talking about a huge loss in income compared to what we were earning (not compared to how much better off prem teams will be next season) - with wage reductions as per what Fox said, money in from player sales - then surely we're looking pretty healthy for some new additions to the squad, according to Remi's vision and a promotion push. Got to be what is keeping Remi in the job.
Don't forget the £23m of Lerner's own money that will also be invested, just like last summer.

Unless of course, you can't move them on, then you're stuck paying them. Eg Agbonlahor, with another ridiculous contreact extension.
Not like Villa to get stuck with deadweight running down a big contract and being unable to sell them ;-)

Is he our next manager?
Bought in to oversee/get to know the squad ahead of next year in the Championship, when Garde either walks or is pushed?
Something cheap like that wouldn't surprise me with our current custodians.
He was supposedly head hunted by Garde so I doubt it.

On a more positive note - really looking forward to young Max Lerner coming on board. This is just the kind of move that will bring the fans back onside
Maybe the idea is for Jack to have a new drinking buddy?

Watch him join Liverpool or United after the Euro's and have no issue with the work permit.

Backpage headline in tomorrow's Mirror.
'Jack Grealish stays up past Midnight using Twitter'.

I will be very suprised if Lerner's 18 year old son comes over for any substantial time. Why would he choose to come to Birmingham, away from his friends when he could go to university or some sunny tourist spot somewhere and have the time of his life. Maybe in four or five years he will join one of his dads companies.

Welcome. Hope you're more successful than the last few.
Is this what Alan Nixon was talking about or is there something else?

It probably is a football person one the board; hopefully a striker will be signed next week as well though.
Loic Remy will not leave Chelsea until they have a replacement for him already signed.

Need cheerng up after throwing away two points in that game so going to cheer myself up with a made up ITK.
'Lacazette announced as a Villa player next week.'

If that game is not up first on MOTD then we are in for a cracking afternoon.
Hopefully Norwich now take a massive confidence hit and go on a terrible run.

Liking the Liverpool fight back. Norwich need to lose and I have Firmino in fantasy football.

2-1 Norwich

I do agree with this, but I think he will at least expect to be given a fighting chance.
If as some people expect, we aren't even able to compete financially with the clubs in the Championship I imagine he will quickly become frustrated.
It honestly wouldn't surprise me to see him leave in the summer if he doesn't feel as though he has been given the tools to at least give him half a chance to do his job.
Would probably walk, claim constructive dismissal and get his full contract paid.

Sounds ok BUT then you have to finish top ( with these players ) of the pile to win promotion then you have to spend again to stay in the PL.I think it would be cheaper to stay in the Pl instead of going down and back up again.
Even with the parachute payments the money we will lose from not getting the tv money will outweigh anything we can make from finding a potential Vardy.

I sitll don't get it though, Croatia became part of the EU in 2013, he should automatically qualify and not require a work permit!!
The existing member states placed restrictions on them when they joined to try and stem the flow of 'undesirables' coming straight over. Thye do not get free movement until 2018 (as 5 year's is all it takes to bring thier people up to speed apparently). Until then they are bound by restrictions on work and trade.

These new work permits rules clearly benefit the bigger clubs, so unfair.
Same as FFP. The whole system is being fixed to keep cerrain teams at the top. We will end up like the Greek league where one team wins every year.

So has our initial application been rejected or has the appeal been rejected?
My knowledge of this is based entirely on FM.
Ditto.

The fans' mood reflects where the club is at, and these last 5 years have been torture without the merest hint of light at the end of the tunnel.
The light at the end of the tunnel would probably be a train.

FM 2017 IS going o be fun playing in the championship as Villa
Lets just hope that fm18 doesn't have Villa in League One.
Hopefully they dont downgrade the club and players to much and it isn't to hard to get back up.

the problem is people have been saying we have no infrastructure since about 2008 and nothing has been done about it. Find it hard to believe that would change now
I wonder if any other club in top 2 divisions in England is so badly mismanaged maybe Leeds and Sunderland but that be it
Working in Leeds and seeing the state of their fan base, how broken down they are and almost accepting that their fate is not going to change anytime soon.
Most of them left anger behind years ago as they know it was futile. They now just look depressed.
I dread to think that Villa could head this way.

I agree. That seems to be what he's saying if people can stop grinding their teeth for 5 seconds.
He's not syaing we'll never spend again. he's saying if we spend we need to make sure we spend it properly and not waste it.
Just the other day someone posted in the Lerner thread showing how much money we've wasted and everybody lolled and joked about it.
Now we have someone saying we want to make sure that doesn't happen and everyone is up in arms about it.
I genuinely think this guy could have given a Martin Luther King greatest speech of all time and this thread would still be full of vitriol. It doesn't matter what he says, a large part of the fanbase have lost so much faith with anyone at the club that it will fall on deaf ears.
I get it. Times are tough, and I understand why people would have very little faith in the people running this club.
But I like to think we can at least give someone a chance before we start throwing embarrassing personal insults at people.
I'll say it again, this thread is an embarrassment. It makes me cringe.
As I said above I think he needs guidance on dealing with sports media. The headline article on bbc sport is now about Villa and Hollis talking to Pat Murphy. If you ignore his comments about Lerner he does say some valid points but the headline still reads "Villa in Crisis - new chairman".
