  1. i think/hope so & sorry to hear it if you have the same. Wednesday night was very concerning & think i must have been doing a bit too much yesterday or something as for about an hour last night it felt almost as bad but has generally been easier but by no means gone/completely better and it feels like i am getting out of breath far more easily than i should be if i am trying to do anything around the house so honestly i would just say as far as possible try and take it easy and do bugger all as much as possible. ( I normally walk the mile or so to work & back every day at 4+ miles an hour according to my fitbit without even a deep breath so i shouldn't be getting out of breath walking around the house) I am lucky enough to have a couple of boxes of paracetamol in the house, not sure if they are doing anything but have been taking 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon & 2 in the evening & drinking plenty of water through the day (mostly with some squash/cordial in but a few glasses of just water). Probably have enough here to do this for another week then i will be out but by then my quarantine should be up so should at least hopefully be able to have a look for some in the shop. I have also had a couple of hot baths & just sat in there reading a book for half an hour or so, again not sure if this helps but if i ever have a cold or feel a bit bunged up i often find that the steam helps clear the head & airways a bit. If you are concerned and end up calling 111 you will be in for a long wait i am afraid. You will get through to basically the welcome person, they will screen out 90% of calls, If they have concerns that you should probably speak to someone else you will then end up on hold for anywhere upto 2 hours to speak to level 2. They will go through the same sort of questions but in a bit more detail with maybe some more person info thrown in. Most calls will end here with basically the same advice (paracetamol.water/isolate etc) but should they have more concerns you will then be waiting for stage 3 which will be a nurse calling you back, wait time for this is 2 hours+ again the nurse will go through the process again, with the same advice but if they are still concerned you will get to the final boss level of the clincal assessment team. Again this will be another 2 hours+ before they call you back and at this point you will either end up pretty much back at square 1 with the same advice you have been given all along or someone is going to turn up at your house in a hazmat suit sometime in the next few hours which may or may not end up in a trip to hospital. Not sure how old you are and maybe this will be different for people older than my 45 years of age but this was my experience. If you are really, really struggling for breath and can't srting more than a few words together i would honestly just call 999 or if you are calling 111 as soon as you get through basically let them know you are in immediate fear for your life or you will be waiting hours
  2. I know it is still early on in this whole thing but think we are well past the point of simply saying well it's worth a try in the lab or a handful of people on some of these existing drugs out there. I am sure there would be a willing line of already hospitalised people willing to give them a try when the current outcome is you will either die or possibly recover, seems to be a 50/50 call but this drug that works on similar things may help, do you want to give it a go... You would think that with some of them already being available pretty much over the counter we would be unlikely to unleash the t-virus. Almost one of those too good to be true outcomes i guess if it turns out that something there are already millions of that cost pennies ends up being the answer or at least, good enough to halt/slow things down enough for a proper long term vaccine to be found but who knows, maybe Trump & his gut feeling is right, here's hoping
  3. Yep despite the dickheads there is still plenty of good going on & would include the politicians in that. People moan about them all the time but hell at least they are trying to ensure there is something to go back to once this is done at the moment, Not sure how anyone really plans for something like this properly and to just get stuff done rather than the years of debate & slow roll out it usually takes to do anything is exactly what is needed at the moment. On a personal note too i haven't had a fag since wednesday. Been an on & off smoker for most of the past 25 years but have been on for the last 5 or so. Would normally be going insane about now but have no inclination to inhale anything other than large gulps of fresh air at the moment so if i come out of this the other end as a none smoker for good it will no doubt help in the long run & will leave me about 4 grand a year better off presuming money is still a thing
  4. Almost like the whole Bill Gates kill 80% of the population thing is real & rather good timing on the event 201 pandemic "simulation" too... Tinfoil hat time i guess but none of them predicted the bog roll issues http://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/event201/about Event 201 was a 3.5-hour pandemic tabletop exercise that simulated a series of dramatic, scenario-based facilitated discussions, confronting difficult, true-to-life dilemmas associated with response to a hypothetical, but scientifically plausible, pandemic. 15 global business, government, and public health leaders were players in the simulation exercise that highlighted unresolved real-world policy and economic issues that could be solved with sufficient political will, financial investment, and attention now and in the future. The exercise consisted of pre-recorded news broadcasts, live “staff” briefings, and moderated discussions on specific topics. These issues were carefully designed in a compelling narrative that educated the participants and the audience. The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, World Economic Forum, and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation jointly propose these recommendations.
  5. The English Game is entertaining enough & only 6 parts. Downton Abbey with the origins of professional football thrown in. Just sat & watched the whole thing
  6. Despite my situation of genuinely fearing i was heading towards being one of the numbers a couple of days back, it's still kinda staggering that 10,000, mostly old people dying over a 2 month+ period has landed us with the world as it currently is. Despite the chaos it is causing the numbers are still pretty much miniscule, There are league 2 teams that get that many people through the turnstiles and even as a percentage of the population of a large city it still isn't even an awful lot of people yet pretty much the whole world is either confined to their house, or soon to be confined to their house for an indefinite period of time and governments are now paying people not to go to work. Mind boggling really
  7. honestly we're ok, Have friends, family, neighbours all able to help at the moment and we're reasonably stocked up for now anyway. Just highlighting the situation in general. If i want a proper shop delivered to my house from the supermarket that i can walk to in 3 minutes the earliest they can do is nearly 18 days away
  8. Thanks, We're ok at the moment & have people who can help with stuff but when people are being told to stay indoors and you can't get an online delivery for over 2 weeks people are just going to go out and take their chances. I had a quick look on amazon earlier. Their entire pantry selection consisted of 1 king sized pot noodle.
  9. honestly no idea, Something needs to be done though. Can't leave the house for 2 weeks. Looking at booking a delivery from morrisons, The first slot available is 10-11pm on Saturday April 4th. Thankyou to people offering to help, We're ok at the moment & have people who can help with stuff so should hopefully be fine but when people are being told to stay indoors and you can't get an online delivery for over 2 weeks people are just going to go out and take their chances.
  10. Think the supermarkets should really be looking at sorting out some one click hampers asap, £30-50 bundles including Pack of andrex, couple of packets of paracetamol, water, soup, beans,pasta/noodles, bag of veg, salad, toothpaste, biscuits etc. Just have warehouses crating up loads of the same stuff, fill the vans & just have them back & forth delivering all day/evening as they do now. Much quicker & efficient if people are just having the same thing. Obviously they could have a few different choices for veggies/vegans/intolerancies etc but it would probably make sense. Log on to website, click parcel 1 & the next day it is on your doorstep. Would, or at least should stop some of the chaos going on in some of the shops
  11. Seems to be following the same pattern as yesterday at the moment, Definitely a bit easier this morning, think i generally pretty much sleep on my front with only my head turned to the side most of the time and from some of the photos of people in hospital in italy being face down maybe this actually helps somehow? but seems to have got a little worse this afternoon, Chest still feels tight, Still having to try and take deep gulps of air every now & then and again like last night standing in the fresh air in the garden for a few minutes seems to help this a bit. It is not as bad as it was light night which was rather concerning if i'm honest. Despite not generally a hypochondriac type and unless something is falling off or feels like i have been stabbed or something i wouldn't even think of going to the docs usually but breathing is kinda important and not being able to do it very well soon makes you stop & think. Hopefully the worst of it has been & gone but we'll see how the evening goes i guess. If it stays like it is currently for a few days it isn't much fun but is bearable enough. It would certainly seem to tie in with some of the timelines you see if i had it at the same time as my wife over the weekend & just didn't notice anything as it seems that those that are going to get breathing difficulties seem to get them on days 5-7 before needing a ventilator a day or two later if the breathing doesn't improve
  12. Either worse or older I would think. I'm 45 so I guess at the lower end of the likely to die chart. Usually fine as far as I know other than being a bit tubby although there are heart issues on my dads side which I was actually supposed to be getting screened for this month. Had bad pneumonia as a kid that nearly finished me off and ended up with severe asthma after this but that seemed to clear in late teens & haven't used an inhaler or anything for years. This feels like the asthma I guess, just can't get a decent breath.
  13. Well that was an interesting evening. Genuinely not pissing about here. Felt fine until Tuesday despite wife showing symptoms over the weekend but mild dry throat & occasional cough appeared before relatively light chest pains & difficulty breathing kicked in. Actually seemed to improve a little by the time i woke up but cough & breathing worsened during the day to the point where i am struggling to take any sort of meaningful deep breath at all. Doesn't feel like i am about to collapse or anything but breathing isn't fun and having to stand up every few minutes to try and get some sort of deeper gulp of air.Standing in the garden definitely seems to aid this at least somewhat. Assessed & told it looks like i definitely have it but not tested or hospitalised. Repeatedly asked about any blood coming from either end (there isn't) & still able to hold a conversation without having to stop to try and breathe every few words and this seems to be the cut-off point at the moment for whether you are going to end up in hospital or not. Treatment/advice is drink water, take paracetamol, wash hands, do not leave the house for 14 days, avoid other people. If breathing difficulties worsen over the next 3 or 4 days and/or any signs of blood call 111 (999 in extremes). Unless you are pretty much about to drop dead (which hopefully i am not) it seems you are not getting tested or going anywhere near a hospital. Now off to bed & will hopefully wake up in the morning Cheers to those who showed concern & stay safe out there. This isn't much fun.
  14. & now waiting for a paramedic... Cya folks
  15. Pretty convinced the wife had it over the weekend/earlier in the week & now almost certain i have it after doing some coughing today & being rather short of breath since last night. Great fun
  16. heh, i got rid of my pic until i can check had about an hours sleep last night, day of complete pissing about today and currently trying to sort out setting up & updating 4 different pc's. Think i've probably gone a bit mad at this point
  17. Hmm maybe not actually, clothes are different on some of them
  18. Its a real photo, Just from sunday announcing the day of prayer,
  19. mad isn't it, on the rice thing there seems to be none anywhere unless you want the uncle bens microwave stuff which seems to be on offer in loads of places at £2 for 3 packs and nobody is buying it. Same with the kitchen roll here, towers of it sat at the end of every single empty bog roll aisle. Worst case just find one of the cheapo supermarket places like heron foods that do all the supernoodle things for 6 for a quid and giant king pot noodles for 65p and stock up on a few packs of those. Sure it isn't exactly the healthiest diet but they are handy warm snacks that aren't going to go out of date and don't take up valuable fridge/freezer space
  20. Friend of mine did that last year, fell down the stairs, broke his neck & died
  21. ah dell inspiron, nice cheap little basic gaming rig if you chuck a cheap £70 low profile gt1030 in it, especially if you have one of the i7 ones
  22. So day one of working from home is going great. Been to work twice, Once to tell someone i have known for over 20 years who is like family that he no longer has a job and once to grab a landline phone as the mobile signal here is useless at the best of times but half the mobile networks seem to have completely collapsed today. & all because someone ate a bat thousands of miles away last year Oh & tomorrow i am planning on giving up smoking so that will be some fun times locked in the house with the likely covid infected wife for the forseeable future
  23. & me, 22 rolls Haven't seen any in shops since Wednesday so grabbed a 4pack when i saw one this morning on the way in to work. Nipped out at lunchtime & the local b&m shop seemed to have some new stock of 18packs so bought one of those too to save having to go hunting again for another week or two
  24. Kinda crazy that the whole world is pretty much f***ed over such small numbers of people. Around 155,000 people die every single day, 2/3 of these are age related. If you take the 60 or so days that people have been dying from covid-19 around 9.3 million people will have died, 6 million or so of these will be as a result of "old age" Given that many of the 7,200 people who have died as a result of covid -19 are elderly/already sick there is a good chance that a fair old chunk of those would have died anyway as part of the 9.3 million and currently the numbers only account for approximately 0.07% of deaths in the past 60 days or so. The WHO estimates that there are between 80000-130000 deaths every year from people being bitten by a snake, averaged out over the same 60 day period (using 100,000 per year as an estimate) this would mean that 16,500 people have potentially died from snake bites in the same time as 7,200 have died from covid-19
  25. Full specs & loads of info now out, Biggest downsides seem to be no optical out & Series X games not working from external drives as they are too slow (can be used to play current gen games), The solution to this is effectively going back to proprietary memory cards although this time they are 1tb NVMe drives, no word on what they will cost yet but they will not be cheap (current basic standalone 1tb nvme is about £150) and the 1tb built into the console isn't going to last long with some current gen games already well over 100gb. Other than that it looks like they have crammed a 2 grand pc into a smallish black box Pretty amazing that they have let digital foundry just completely take it all apart & show everything months before release.
