I don't think you remember 87 very well! Our crowds were shit, they were about 18000. We didn't even half fill villa park.

Attendances were pretty poor everywhere around then weren't they?

I was born in 81 so was really only just beginning my Villa love affair around then.

  2. Don't think it's been touched on but in the CNN interview with the bloke, when he asks about the mix up about the five  listed companies actually being one. Dr Xia says it was a miscommunication with the language and possibly due to a difference in the business system. He then says they actually control even more than five public companies just indifferent ways.

What do you think this means?

  3. You can see that it's possible to pick holes in the case that the Reading situation was all Samuelson's doing. Reading fans naturally are going to want someone to blame and untill now all the info is aimed at blaming Samuelson with no real need to have a fair debate.

That's not to say he wasn't to blame or that he doesn't push/cross the legality boundaries.

An Everton fan I work with described Everton's season as "The most embarrassing he has ever witnessed" and even described it as being worse than Villas.

Football fan hyperbole to some extent but to Everton fans it seems that they found the season to be extremely poor as well.

Same with someone I work with. Although he doesn't moan as much to me because he knows how bad we've been and realises it can be worse.

Yeah that probably was me. But perhaps not for reasons you think. A season ticket is a major wedge of cash for me (I'm not a rich bloke !) - I would need to be enthused by the new manager to shell out that amount of cash. Sorry but RDM is a path weve trodden before , Houller, Garde,. I honestly don't see it being much different - so wouldn't renewing my tickets - thats not a bribe or a threat - I just don't think Id be getting my £500 worth !!!

Naturally I will still follow the results, and hope RDM proves me wrong !!!

It was someone else, who was doing it as more of a statement (well that's how it appeared). Of course money comes into it. If you think you aren't going to enjoy watching the football Villa would play then £500 is a lot to put down if you're not sure, which is fair enough.

Personally I'd never like to presume someone is going to fail, even if they aren't on my list of favoured candidates. As I said I'll always have hope till it's obvious it's not going to happen.

Well check my post a couple back. I said that Tony is going to be more hands so hopefully he will learn.

Ellis tried with Graham Turner , a little poodle of a manager. To his credit he learned it wouldn't work and employed some much stronger characters after that. So there is hope Tony will learn.

Should have read new replies before sending.

The last bit was more general than just aimed at you. I've seen somebody say they aren't getting a season ticket if it's RDM. Which of course is their decision but it just seems a strange one without knowing what it's going to be like.

Not getting one because of Lerner makes sense, as would if there was a moral objection to a new manager/owner. I just find it strange that someone would write of any hope because of a certain manager.

If we appoint RDM - to me its new owners = same old villa.

Even @Woodytom has had his positive moments regarding the takeover. Every post I've noticed of yours is a moan.

I don't think I could enjoy football and certainly not Villa if had no hope. Some times it comes crashing down but the hope always returns.

I'm sure I've posted similar earlier but ALL managers fail at some point, some successful ones are only really successful at one club. Whoever it is, The new manager might have that right man, right time, right club moment. Opinions are fine but some things are just over the top.

He actually says “we have deposit more than 100 million dollars cash...pound...in the account in England”.  So it could be £100m or £68m, I wasn't 100% sure but it sounded to me like he corrected himself when he said pound.

Could this not just be the money in a holding account for the club? Rather than any other fund.

It was stated in a past article that the FA reject 20 takeovers for every 1 takeover that succeeds. I get the feeling that if this was to fail it would have failed already.

I don't know why it's in my head, but I think I read Villa had been in communication with The FA through the process in advance of the takeover announcement, making sure everything was being done correctly.

11 is Banfill, I believe this is Jamie Banfill who has been mentioned in the media today.  He is an associate of Samuelson.

And I think 20 will just be Adama's shirt.

If lerner remains as owner we are buggered

If this takeover happens we may or may not be buggered.

I'll take my chances with the takeover

I posted similar a couple of days ago, the only good outcome is, this takeover goes ahead and we're not getting screwed over.

  12. Yes it's definitely been mentioned that the premier league are doing their checks but The Football league won't start till we are officially part of them. Which just seems like some pathetic bureaucracy.

Hopefully it is under way and will be announced when we are officially in the Championship. I suppose at least this way it gives them time to do what they do without any timescale pressure.

  13. Forgetting about his history with other football clubs for a second. What worries me a little, If you go by past rumours, he's potentially been part of 2 previous failed attempts to buy Villa already and now at the third attempt he's managed it (well currently involved rather than owns). Has he struck lucky finding someone with strong backing to work with or has he tried to go a different elaborate route to his previous attempts of getting hold of the club? Of course the other rumours might not be true or he might not have been involved but there's some mighty coincidences.

damn.. he would have been perfect.

One of the most important thing about our next appointment is to unite the fans and give us reason to feel optimistic, Pearson would NOT unite the fans.

Have you read this thread? Good luck with finding a candidate that unites the fans

  15. They've been mentioned but it's only just clicked. 'The Pheonix group' hedgefund that Samuelson was fronting to try and get Reading and then Bristol Rovers.

They were also linked to us last year as well weren't they?

  16. The Sun reckon Samuelson is to be executive chairman.

    Quote

ASTON VILLA have met with David Moyes about a sensational return to English football.
Christopher Samuelson, set to be named as executive chairman of a new Villa structure, held talks with Moyes last Thursday.
The former Man Utd boss has been out of work since being sacked by Spanish club Real Socieded in November.
There is no agreement at this stage and the club have already made initial approaches to out-of-work Nigel Pearson and Roberto Di Matteo – though the Italian met with AS Roma officials on Saturday.
Scottish businessman Keith Wyness, formerly of Aberdeen and Everton, will become chief executive at Villa Park.
Villa were bought by Chinese businessman Dr Tony Xia for £60million last week.
And Xia’s aim is for the club — who he is claimed to have supported for “many years” — is to gain promotion back to the Premier League and become a top-six team.
In an interview with the Guardian, he said: “My ambition is to bring Villa to the top six in less than five years and I hope it can be [one of] the top three in the world – even the best well known in the world – in less than 10 years.
“Forget the past and think we are going to enter into a new age.
“I am going to spend a lot of time there, especially in the first season. I think I will buy a house maybe in the next month.”

  17. I'm still optimistic but It's all been a bit crap at the thought that it might go wrong.

I just saw a little lad in Chippenham with a Villa shirt, without a care in the world and a smile on his face. I'm taking a leaf out of his book. Positive thoughts fromnow on until there is a reason not to.

You want it to fail? That would be really bad for us as a club

In reference to the person you quoted. The only reason to want this to fail should be if it is dodgy not on the assumption it is dodgy.

The only likely positive outcome is if it goes ahead and it is all ok. Dodgy we are screwed and if falls through we are screwed as it would be difficult to resurrect another bid in a timely manner.
