  1. What are you laughing at?

I'm laughing at how you're now flipping this into an argument that people who are racist, sexist, homophobic and such 'generally' come from council estates and 'rough streets', and that these same people had a poor upbringing.

Isn't that what the premise is that there should be greater education to teach academy kids not to be racist, sexist, homophobic and anti-semitic?

A lot of them come from poor backgrounds and would not otherwise get exposed to these "cultured" values.

When Mackay came up through the youth ranks there was none of this PC education. Maybe it would have made a difference.

You mean educated enough to keep it to yourself? People from all backgrounds and 'classes' harbour these views. They are just more subtle in how they act about it.

  2. It's a clash of working class and middle class cultures.

A lot of the talent in football is from what used to be called the working class. They say things that you would never say holding a cup of tea and a scone.

It isn't a clash of working class and middle class cultures in the slightest, I can assure you that I am far, far, far from middle class.

It doesn't matter what upbringing you had to be offended by it.

What I mean't was that the people who use such language generally had a poor upbringing. Council estates, rough streets etc.

Con, what do you actually want to see happen to McKay and Moody?

Are you saying that because he hasn't killed or molested anyone, he should be allowed to get a job with a top club?

What about the alleged corruption and unexplained payments / transfer fees?

Are you equating the 'folksy racism' of a certain class or generation with that of a 42 year old millionaire, formerly in charge of a premier league team. Comments directed at individuals as opposed to regional and national stereotypes?

Would you trust him with Barry Bannan?

I personally think the alleged corruption and unexplained payments are more serious than the text messages.

I thought you were laughing at me removing my post swearing at Con.

Let's leave the working class up rough up bringing generalisation and talk about why you are so angry and feel it's a personal insult?

    Lol

I realised it was a crap joke and maybe seen as offensive ;)

And Vive La Villa, yes, yes I am. I'm even more offended that people can brush it all off as a joke or that it doesn't matter that these things have been said.

In what sense are you offended? Race? sexual preference, gender? Sorry if I'm being intrusive I'm just genuinely interested why you are so angry?

  7. Thing is sampjp just because you have never sent what's deemed as a racist, homophobic or sexist text in your life it doesn't mean that all people that have are bad people. It also doesn't mean these people really believe those views and live their life by them.

If they did really have those views it doesn't mean they will always have those views and never change them.

  8. As I said the other day, an ex-youth player for Cardiff said it happened an awful lot when he was there from Mackay and it didn't surprise him that this had came out. Should he manage another football club again? Personally I don't think so and I don't think that is a punishment, it is just consequences for his own actions.

It's a slippery slope when you start to ban people from an occupation simply based on things they have said.

I think it's ridiculous to even suggest that.

  9. This run of fixtures don't bother me.....from previous experience it's the ones we are expected to win ...we don't.

That's the bit that needs to change the most.

Do you think that's because we we can park the bus against the good teams and always play like the away team hitting on the break. Against the weaker teams at home we give it a go and get exposed.

  10. I can't help but think this story is highlighting a real football culture clash.

There's a big percentage (who knows how big) who think it is okay to make offensive comments as long as comments are made casually or in jest.

Then there's another generation (on average younger and more metropolitan) who think that no it isn't okay under any circumstances.

It's a tough balance for the mainstream media and football in general to condemn the text messages without alienating a lot of their audience.

Well considering the backlash and the talk of him never managing again I'd say our society in general doesn't think it is acceptable at all and quite the opposite.

I personally think yes he **** up and considering he has just lost out on a new job he has been punished. People are sitting on their high horse condemning the guy yet at the same time want his livelihood destroyed over a few stupid text messages.

I really don't understand how you think people are sitting on their high horse?

Ok what do you think his punishment should be?

  12. If you consider hull paying £12 million for Long it's a bloody bargain.

Not Hull god I'm stupid today Southampton

Balotelli on 90k a week is insane, and for £16m is peanuts, I get the feeling he's a player who get's sick of a place after a season or 2. If he gets 40 goals in 2 years it'll be a great bit of business. That Long deal was nuts, but that's what happens when you look for "proven" talent, that must be the worst purchase of the season, 6 season in the Premier league and hasn't hit double figures.
I think the Balotelli signing is a mistake. Great player when he wants to be but way too disruptive.

Edit: he here he has clauses on conduct and behaviour in his contract. Smart move but what does it say about a person when you have to have such a contract?

  13. Why didn't you like Linekers comment?

After Senderos's dominating performance during the game it was uncharitable of Lineker to leave us with the impression he is submissive and weak, which he generated by implying an over-intimacy with Vlaar.

    Get outa here!

  14. Football is a forgiving industry. Let's be honest: most of us would be hypocrites to say we would not have let them have the sexism and maybe the homophobia - what about Lineker's comment on MOTD about Senderous nibbling Vlaar's neck? I didn't like it but I and nobody else has called for him to be sacked so the reality is nobody really cares.

There simply aren't many Jews in football and it was an agent, so they might have been allowed that one too because it was an agent.

It's the brazen racism and lots of it that is really shocking and annoying and makes you scratch your head. Do they think it is a sport for white people? How can they expect to run a successful team picking just white Europeans? It shouldn't need to be said that Toure, Kompany were crucial in helping Man City win the Premier League last year. David Silva is about half-Japanese. Their attitudes to race are bad for the sport.

Why didn't you like Linekers comment?

  15. Meanwhile our mates the Saudis are busy beheading their own citizens

Saudi Arabia has executed at least 19 people since August 4, 2014. Local news reports indicate that eight of those executed were convicted of nonviolent offenses, seven for drug smuggling and one for sorcery.

What you don't know doesn't hurt you. Now let's proceed with wiping out the Middle East as it's the only place in the world where bad things happen.
