  1. @ Mantis. We are just going to have to agree to disagree here.

    Contract length we agree on.

Your point regarding age is fair.

However, I do see him as injury prone and this is where we clearly disagree.

He really is injury prone. I'm not sure how anybody can think otherwise.

  2. A lot of people don't believe he has an injury issue even though he's missed nearly 25% of league games since he's been here. By the way this season is going that isn't going to change.

Cue the shouts of he hasn't got an injury problem because 'insert some other injury prone player' has missed more games.

Should have cashed in when his value was obscene given his age, injury proneness and length remaining on his contract.

Cash in how? As far as we are aware no bid was ever made for him.

  3. Lloris

    Silva Godin Kompany

    Fabregas Vidal Schweinsteiger

    Pjanic

    Ronaldo Falcao Messi

So you rate Fabregras as the best Spanish midfielder there is?

Well if he used anyone form barca he couldn't use Messi.

If he used anyone from Real he couldn't use ROnaldo.

If he used anyone from City he couldn't use Kompany

    etc etc

    SO no, he probably doesn't.

Oh yeh. Sorry, forgot the club part of the rules. I'm worse than Con.

  4. Clark nearly scored, great save, after that Arsenal took control. We are looking far better than last season and that's enough for me. Atmosphere was good until the 3rd goal, lower Holte.

There was a few Arsenal fans in the lower Holte as well, which is fair enough i suppose but they should at least have enough about them to keep it quiet, they didn't and it nearly kicked off on a couple of occasions.

An Arsenal fan in one of the box's celebrated a bit too much and a villa fan climbed and punched him.

Stupid really because that fan can probably never go to Villa Park again.

Mind you, you do get complete cocks in the boxes on occasion. Not condoning violence but pretty stupid from both for me.

Very much so. It was all quite embarrassing from both sides.

  5. No Johnny Williams either. Not even on the substitute bench.

Warnock went with power (Jedinak, Ledley) and pace (Puncheon, Bolasie, Campbell) for counter-attack tactics on 24% possession.

If you only have 24% possession you don't need Bannan or Williams. They need to play for the clubs who seek dominate possession. Whether that is England or abroad I don't know.

Over the course of a season the teams that have more of the possession end up higher in the table so it's not as if Bannan and Williams do not possess valuable traits for teams looking to push to the next level.

    I don't believe you.

    I can believe that.

If you were Barry Bannan you would struggle to believe in the positives right now.

Perhaps he should not make any effort at all to improve? He'll never be as fast, athletic and powerful as the naturally fast, athletic and powerful players.

Crystal Palace have discovered the formula for staying in the Premier League and he's not in it.

I really think both Bannan and Williams if they can't join Swansea in January, and they have some ambition, should move to another league: Seria A, Ligue One or La Liga.

Championship would still be too physical.

    I think you are Bannan.

  7. What has happened to Okore? Surely Clark is our 5th choice centre half?

Okore has been injured for nearly a year.

I'm sure we're just easing him back in.

Throwing him into a huge game like this probably isn't the best way to do that.

I wasn't saying he should have played. I was asking what has happened to him. He doesn't seem to be featuring at all.

  8. Courtois

    Zabaleta Ramos Godin Shaw

    Rodriguez Kroos Fabregas

    Ronaldo Costa Bale

Edit: No I did not read the rules

    Following the rules:

    Courtois

    Zabaleta Silva Godin Shaw

    Rodriguez Kroos Pogba

    Ronaldo Costa Bale

Con sometimes I think you do it on purpose.

  9. Listen, I understand TBAR has made a bit of a rod for its own back with the ITK stuff in the past but they are fellow Villa fans so can we not make this thread about that site or the people who post on it please.

Fair comments trent - there have been several mistakes regarding itk but I can honestly say they were all in good faith - no doubt still a mistake as they put the reputation of the site at stake and many founding members have since departed.

I personally find this site a good one and know many people on TBAR use this forum too- there is no problem using both and not resorting to slagging off the other - the Internet is a big place and we can all choose where we wish to read information without the need for abuse - I have many times praised villatalk on TBAR myself .

Now let's all have a big group hug and get behind the Villa!

  10. I think Islamophobia is understandable (but not justified) really. Everything you read or see on telly is pretty much aimed at producing that reaction. The alternative would be to blame the statesmen and "peacemakers" that are happy to sacrifice their own citizens to further their own agendas, and that wouldn't do.

With all the due respect to any one that has a phobia of Islam but what does it say about a person that has based an opinion on the second largest religion in the world because of a few fanatics and the media that is desperate to make them look bad.
  11. I've always said he has all the ability to be a top defender but just lacks the brains. If with time he can use his head for more than putting it in front of balls then he could have a very good career.

  12. Sturridge wasn't here for long was he? And the way he spent the early part of his career chasing money and then moaning every chance he got about not getting an opportunity something tells me that if he had broke through we wouldn't have kept him

Agree with Cahill, it was stupidity from MON, Davies maybe (but that's a push too, he was awful for us) but zat knight?! Cahill had a buzz round him too, a lot of fans were waiting for him to get a good go at it, and we flogged him cheaply to a shitter team :(

Cahill was clearly the next John Terry. We all saw it, I remember telling all my friends how good he is and how he will captain England one day. We could all see he was special.

Why the **** couldn't MON see this!?!?!?

  13. Yeh but if a massive club comes calling for you and are ready to pay big money, are you really going to think I'm not going to play much because I'm not good enough really?

Milner may well have gone for the money but surely he would have had belief in his own ability to claim a place in the team? As it turned out he isn't good enough for where they want to be but surely he had to try?

  14. No better place for Jack to develop than VP.

Based on the vast majority of academy players that come through the ranks, and fail, I just don't agree with this.

Quite shocking how many supposedly talented youth players we've had who just have not developed once they hit the first team:

Gabby, weimann to an extent, you could argue Barry as he came at such a young age, vassell? Who else really? We produce a lot of potential yet the clubs ability to maximise that is nothing short of abysmal in all honesty.

As opposed to signing for a so called "big club"? Rodwell and Sinclair are two examples of chasing money rather than having the urge to play and become better. Jack is at the perfect place for his development, he will be given the opportunity to shine consistently here like many others have in the recent past.
He will have the chance to shine because if he is good enough he will play. But this could also go the other way if the last two seasons are anything to go by. If we begin to struggle then so will he. That is not an ideal situation for any player new to this league let alone an 19 year old with massive expectations placed on him.

We've had a good start to the season and the squad seems stronger so hopefully he can be eased in. But I do not agree that a relegation battling team is an ideal place for a young players development.

  15. No better place for Jack to develop than VP.

Yep, nothing like a relegation scrap every year to enhance your career ;)

Seriously, what is the point of just constantly slagging off the club? We're much better for him to develop at than if he did go to a big club like Chelsea. He'll get some decent gametime this season I'm sure.

How on earth is that slagging off the club? I didn't say Villa is a bad place to develop but how on earth can somebody say there is no place better. Talk about exegarating.

  16. So the way I understand it is that Sadam was toppled by the west and a Shia Goverment was put in place? The Shia Goverment and minority Shia people then begin to persecute the majority Sunni. An almost role reversal of when Sadam was in charge. This along with the Syria conflict led to the creation of an extremist Sunni Muslim organisation which is IS?

So the west created a 'monster' and now are trying to destroy it? So what will be created next?

Is any of the above accurate albeit very simplistic?
