  1. No Ratings and Reactions thread yet. Hmm, ominous.
  2. No Don't think he meant you :-) He knows who I meant.
  3. God you're tedious. Mr Tool. You really can't help yourself can you?
  4. One person? Seems to me as if quite a few people who live outside or who have lived outside the West Midlands have had the same problem (but only if you read the thread). I'm sure this is because of the historical importance of West Ham and all those leagues they won in the 1920s, 1950s and 1980s. Re the colour, oh dear yes, spot on. The badge doesn't bother me - better than the last one, not as good as the round one or the one they wore in the 1957 Final and for years afterwards. I couldn't agree more. Maybe for this reason he should only be allowed to play in away matches.
  5. I don't know. You are asking if 52% of us have ever been in a team and saying we are under 15. Unless I am very much mistaken.
  6. Out of that little lot I'd say: Petrov - Not too bad a choice NRC - I wanted him to be captain when he first arrived L. Young - Dignified and reasonably self-assured, but is that enough? Sidwell - Has someone suggested Sidwell?? Davies - Might be good therapy for him, but that's a lame reason for making him captain Carew - Dunno, he's certainly a leader Milner - I don't think he'd like it. I'm sure he sees himself as one of the workers, putting in loads of sweat and effort
  7. Perhaps he has screwdrivers on his mind. Or chisels.
  8. Risso.don't. even. ask.
  9. So no Harewood, Salifou, Luke Young, Bouma(all injured?), Osbourne or Bannan, right?
  10. All right Malcolm. That'll do.
  11. Is Cuéllar a good player? Yes he is.
  12. Funnily enough what PB says about Curtis Davies is what I most strongly agree with. I seem to remember that nearly 3 years ago a specialist advised that in future Laursen should play no more than one match a week. Somebody (Laursen, MON, Villa medical staff...?) decided to ignore that from the word go.
  13. I see what you mean sled but I don't blame people for expecting a fresh start to the season and then, like Risso said, the same old problems that hindered us last season to be even worse. I know, I know. But the performances in the Peace Cup (once MON had been sent from the bench) give the lie a teeny bit to the opinion that we are simply carrying on from where we left off in May. Though I realise that some would wish to portray the Peace Cup as some kind of pre-season kickabout. But yes you're right (you usually are except when you talk about Carlos :winkold: ) for not blaming people for expecting a fresh start. Yesterday was certainly a kick in the teeth.
  14. How right you are with the last bit! There are fans, supporters, followers who don't post on any internet forums, there are those who post on Vital Villa or Heroes & Villains, and those who post on VillaTalk who are fairly consistent. Obviously opinions can change. But people like Turamber, Jez, Big_John_10, Tricella, briny_ear, CastleBromVilla, PB, DundeeVilla and a whole host of others... these are people who are either very consistent or whose opinions change slowly and after much thought. Then there's the fickle brigade. Those who scream about how great we are and time for the doubters to eat humble pie and other such crap after a 1-0 victory. And then one week later are calling the players shite and saying the manager must go.
  15. Honestly I think a lot of our more negative posters really enjoyed that game yesterday. There are all sorts of posters mentioning how 'they knew it was coming', and pointing out how they've been doomsaying for the last three years etc etc. I can imagine them sitting at their keyboard, rubbing their hands with glee as they let loose all their frustration. Expectations at Villa Park are ridiculous these days. We have no right to beat Wigan. We have the right to see effort and application from our players (something which we didn't see from most of the team yesterday). We have no right to see fancy dan football played out by world class players. We are on our way to being the next Newcastle in terms of expectations. Our booing and negativity and lack of support to team and management are all our very own though. Nothing remotely shit-stirring or conflictive about that post then.
  16. Someone mentioned we get in a Director of Football. Not if MON is the greatest thing since sliced bread and walks on water. Not if he's clown MON and has lost the plot OMG OMG. Not if we appoint David O'Leary as manager. Not if we appoint Chris Hutchings or Colin Calderwood as manager. Not if we appoint José Mourinho or Pep Guardiola as manager. No. They interfere and even the few who don't go around causing friction are seen by all but the most thick-skinned (eg Guardiola*) as vultures simply waiting to ingratiate themselves with Mr Chairman or Mr Owner and write a damning report on the manager. No Directors of Football. Please. * EDIT: Mind you, if you can win the Champions' League in your first season perhaps you don't need a thick skin.
  17. Fist you write "Bad 2nd half of the season"..and then you end it all up with "One bloody match"? Fickle my arse! You deserve credit when due...and you deserve criticism in the very same way. MON has had three seasons to build a strong side. He has now a very thin squad lacking almost everything! I am not going to argue with the likes of you or Mr Smalljob because at least you have been consistent. But there are some who change from week to week, depending on the last result.
  18. Bad 2nd half of season. Tremendous Peace Cup. Decent performance against Fiorentina. Dire today. Martin O'Neill, hero to zero, eh? We might do well to sleep on it. I have no more wish that O'Neill goes than I have that we get a richer owner. Stay. 100% stay. And no more of this new manager every 3 or 4 years. One bloody match. DOL was right.
  19. Not tyhe first time we've come adrift at home to Wigan is it? Last home game of 2007/2008?
  20. Isn't this where we all ease our way over to to the over-reactions and over-ratings thread?
