    Does anyone know how Man City paid, or are paying, for Jack? If it was stage payments how much is outstanding? If there is an outstanding amount could this be used to facilitate a transfer?

    It can be interesting for us to discuss potential new players but we should resist placing undue credibility on journalists. Some may be worth our time but many are just playing with click-bate. I am sure UE will have his priorities with potential additions in mind. We now need to wait until the window opens and see what happens.

    Only concern I have is over his work rate. From what you saw did he work hard off the ball closing opponents down?

    This is why our owners have been successful in their business lives. I think many Villa fans became so accustomed to the Ellis “satisficing” model that they think real ambition is not for us!

    Of course the market for top quality players is tight but does this mean our owners will not strive for the top? I certainly hope not. By the way - bit pedantic really - but if two cases exist in fact then the case cannot be mythical.

    Very true - my point is that we need out and out goal scorer/finishers. Goals are certainly spread across teams but top teams need top goal scorers - anybody think Erling Haaland won’t score 20 goals in the league this season. I know he’s a top player in a top team but this is where our owners ( and Unai) are aiming. So I do not accept the negative “too difficult” vibe.
