As much as I love Villa it really is just football. If it really means that much to you then unfortunately that’s your issue to sort out not the topic creator.

On paper this is a good appointment but his time at Arsenal worries me. Arsenal fans couldn’t wait to get rid of him. His only forage into the Premiership wasn’t a success so I’m very cautious about his record elsewhere.
Villa aren’t playing in the Spanish leagues. They are playing in probably the toughest league there is so I’m not sure Emery is strong enough to get results or indeed deal with a dressing room that helped the previous manager sacked?
However, I hope he proves me wrong and is successful at the Villa!
Arsenal fans wanted rid of Wenger and Arteta.

Anyone who walks away from the club they supposedly support, should not come back.
It’s not a legally binding contractual obligation ffs. Some in here need to grow up ffs lol. Pathetic childish crap.

Villareal fans saying his assistant is the brains behind him, so unless he's coming too, this could be a big mistake
If I had a pound for every time I’ve heard that I could retire now. Everyone says that about every single manager appointed ever. It’s always mostly cobblers.

Wow. He was my number one want. I’m genuinely impressed and shocked we managed to do this one. Fingers crossed it all works out.
The first time since we appointed O’Neill that I’ve been actually excited about a Villa manager appointment. Smith turned out well of course but I was pretty underwhelmed when we appointed him.
What a great couple of days for the club. Fair play to the owners and those who have got all this done.
UTV!

I’d rather a number lose the ball trying defence splitting passes and trying to be creative than risking nothing and being passive.
Exactly this. Give him a few more games and he will hopefully get even better after finally having a decent run in the team with a capable system and person in charge and without worrying about whether he will be back on the bench next time.

What a bloody relief! Watkins, Ings & Dendoncker superb.
Fingers crossed this shackle free football continues as it was so refreshing to see today. Like a weight has been lifted around the club. Now it’s time to make it count and win a few more.

Fair play to him, played well and scored and shut me up. Hope he gets a few more goals now and his confidence sky rockets.

10/10. Absolute banger.

I think a few keyboard warriors need to get off his back. Moment of weakness. We all get absolutely furious and fed up at the Villa from time to time. It’s part of supporting us. Sometimes people just need to vent and then they feel better.
No need for some of the comments I’ve seen and name calling. He’s a Villa fan too. We can’t all be ‘Super Happy Clapping Villa Are Always Amazing I’m A Better Fan Than You’ weirdo’s.

On another note, if it's true that AVB is " keen " I'm not sure why so many are against the idea, and would even prefer Dyche over him.
Won't pretend to have followed his career closely after leaving England, but he seems to have done ok?
His main issue would appear to be being a bit fiery.
Also, knows Sanson and Kamara well.
If all top targets aren't immediately attainable, surely we could do worse?
I’d be more than happy with AVB. I wouldn’t listen to stuff on here about this as a lot on here turned their noses up at Potter and Howe.

Thanks to @Tayls alerting me, just found out my post from the ‘how will you celebrate when Gerrard gets sacked’ topic got mentioned on The Football Ramble by Pete Donaldson. I’ve reached the tip tip top.

I’ve never had one. Don’t need one. I’ve always had an inherent maybe irrational distrust of them. If I want something I’ll usually save up for it. If I really really wanted it then I’ll still want it once I can afford it.

That Hogan looks a decent player

For how good they are doing and how much the fans are loving it never forget they have a third shirt in the SA colours and are part owned by a regime who hack people into pieces for disagreeing with them.

The only chumps making a big deal of it were the press and some fans... and guess what, if we change captain again, the same will probably happen.
I can remember quite a few times where Gerrard talked about it before picking and after with a wry smile on his face. He made it public.

I know it’s just lazy links but NO No No No No No to the Bielsas and Rodgers et al of this world. No no no

Best thing the new manager can do is not make such a big deal about it publicly like the last chump did. Just come in to training, say “John, I’m making so and so captain. Nothing personal, thank you for being the captain previously and I hope we all can move forward with this”. Done.

Getting a bit more used to this now. Downloaded a couple of ‘unsupported’ games and they work fine. Only issue I’ve had is Thief only accepts keyboard and mouse not controllers. I wonder if there is a list somewhere of the games that run fine on it that aren’t ‘approved’.

This after BBC investigate their own presenter Martine Croxall for alleged impartiality against the Tories.
