  1. Havent been watching him a lot, but i have thought on the occasions, when i have seen him play that he definely has something and in the end it would just be guessing. We still have both Grealish and Lansbury we could play in that position, so I still dont agree that Onomah is that special from what i have seen and that he is the difference between us being promoted or not.
  2. Like I said above, give him the same slack and gametime as Onomah, then it would be easier to judge, but In my view Onomah hasnt been a stand out player. I cant remember a game where I have thought "Wauw what a player"
  3. In my opinion he has been far from one of our best players and, with the things he has been saying, I would play some of our own players.
  4. Give hime the same gametime as Onomah has got so far - I think so, but let me re-phrase that. With what I have seen from Onomah, I wouldnt play him and and let it stop the development from our own players like Grealish, O'hare and Lansbury Play our own players first. i havent understood why we loaned Onomah in the first place.
  5. Then why play him and develop him for Spurs, instead of giving our own players time on the pitch. Im sure O'hare would give us exactly the same as I have seen from Onomah
  6. That is exactly how I feel. Dont think he has been that good and with his recent comments in mind, I would start playing our own players, Lansbury, O'hare or Grealish instead.
  7. Lansbury and Grealish on for Hourihane and Onomah, today it just hasnt worked...
  8. Try to put Whelan in the team from last year and see how he performs and furthermore if you have to compare those two players, you have to look into how many passes is backwards, forwards, long passes etc., You just cant take them in one pile...
  9. Its ok. This is of course only my opinion. I dont think Whelan had a good game, and I just watched the highlights again and its still my opinion. It would have been more sensitive to replace him for Jedinak. I dont think Jedinak is mobile enough to be playing as a CM, but great at covering the defence and helping the 2 CM's. I think he is better at holding up the ball playing it around to keep possesion, I havent seen that from Whelan yet. Later I would probably have brought on Lansbury instead of Onomah or Snodgrass and switched Onomah to right mid. Bringing on a right back for right mid just concerns me in so many aspects, because playing right back or right wing/- mid is just so different and not easy to change between the positions. For example, how is his positional sense, does he press or wait, does close down on the outside or the inside. Bjarnarson, I just dont understand. He has been non-existent every time he has played and gives the ball away to the opposition far to often and far to easy. Vulnerable is probably the wrong word to use, but mainly to do with english not being my first language.
  10. If it has been interpreted that way I understand, but I dont recall to have said that we should learn from our mistakes, what I did say, was that I didnt agree with the substitutions that was made, in my opinion they made us more vulnerable and I said that we should reflect on the decisions we made in order to improve.
  11. Ok? And yet yesterday I was being ridiculed because i was questioning his substitutions, even though I gave him credits for the win...hmmmm But hey, I dont care, I stand by what i have said. He hasnt won me over...yet. He might do, but who knows. I still think the football he is playing is boring and dull and not fit for a club like Aston Villa. See you on the other side...
  12. No, I reflect on what i see. If you read my initial post, after the game, again, you would see that i gave credit to Steve Bruce for the win and that i was happy for the 3 points, I even mentioned that it was the best i have seen so far this season, I just didnt agree on his choices when he started to make changes
  13. So you never reflect on the decisions you have made in order to improve? No reason to change anything, because it went well? I do and I expect Bruce to do the same. Just because you are satisfied with the way we are playing doesnt mean that i have to be. Im not satisfied and I expect more, a lot more than what I have seen so far.
  14. Would you feel he had made the right substitutions if QPR had equalised, looking at the way we had been playing up until he made the changes?
  15. That is your opinion, that he got everything right. If you read my post, I said i was happy about the result and gave him credit for us playing a lot better, but play players out of position, in the situation we were in, I dont agree with and probably never will. Why have Lansbury on the bench if he is not fit enough to play 20-25 minutes? And Jedinak or Lansbury could have done just as much as Whelan did in the position if they had swapped. I know this is just opinions and we will never know.
  16. No need to swear... Whelan were being overun, didnt track back, at some point i thought Hourihane was the defensive midfielder of these two and some point in the last 15 minutes, i even saw him turn his back to a QPR player attacking up our right hand side and not even run after him. Why not take Whelan off and replace him with Jedinak, like for like? If you remove all our attacking possiblities, then in my opinion you are asking for it. De Laet isnt a natural right/midfielder, so putting him in a position where he isnt comfortable, isnt defensive minded, its just plain stupid, and bannedfromHandV, you probably doesn agree and you dont have to, from your post i can see that we just view football and how it should be played diffently. So you were happy with Bjarnarson coming on? I would have put Grealish, a player who can hold on to the ball, keep it calm and play it around. Not 2 players, De Laet and Bjarnarson, who lost the ball every time the touched it.
  17. If I could ask him one question, it would be "What were your reasons behind the substitutions you made?". He got the result today and Im happy about it and we played a lot better and created more chances than i have seen before this season. But the substitutions baffles me. What do Whelan have to do to get substituted? Again he just wasnt very good. Why put De Laet on the right wing? and Bjarnarson on the left, when he clearly isnt doing anything for the team at all. In my view the substitutions just made us much more defensive and aloved QPR back in the game with 15 minutes to go. Even if we won today , im still not convinced about Bruce and still want him leave our club.
  18. Im very interested in hearing the story. Basically I think we look at it more or less in the same way, maybe its just me having the difficulties to express my self in a seconf language.

      Hi Paul,

Im from Denmark/Copenhagen. Shiiiit, Carton Palmer? I guess you can take a big part in him making it. If you hadnt pushed him in that direction, then most likely he wouldnt have done that. But listen, I dont understand why clubs, its probably not like that in most clubs now, isnt interested in players well being. The better the players feel, has confidence, the better they perform, its like in any other company. If the players feel like the boss isnt interested, then they dont give a flying **** **** about it themselves.

      Hi Mads

You are right, but some times faces fit with coaches sometimes they don't, sometimes they are overworked in their eyes and take the easy route.

I would suspect Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi are what they are through their own personal motivation and training

I suspect one on one coaching only happens at certain clubs.....thats something we are not privvy to.

we as fans don't get to see the warts and all, so we can only speculate.

I am not so much pro Bruce as some think.....I am just unsure, he can be blamed for as many things as some fans do blame him for....I think there are worse managers out there......and whilst we are looking for a better one, might get one of them....its a roll of the dice in many cases.

nb when I answer your posts on line i will refer back to Taxahunter......thanks for the chat.

  19. It should be things that the players should do by themselves, without even thinking about it, but if they dont do it, the basics, as i saw it saturday and especially Elmohamedy, Whelan, Hogan, then Bruce should adress it in training and if they still dont do it and he keeps picking them, then at the end its his responsibility. He is picking the team week in, week out and if he keeps picking players who doesnt do the basics and fundamental things in football, then there is no consequenses for playing badly and why should the other players give their all in training? I was all in for Steve Bruce in the beginning, but he has lost me because of the way he plays. I have seen games where we havent produced a single attacking play or created any chances for 45 minutes and only had 2-4 shots on goal and in my view, that is just not good enough...
  20. Of course i dont know what he is doing in training, but during the games i have seen, some of the players are getting the basics of football wrong, waiting for the ball to drop down before attacking it, not running or offering themselves to have the ball, the crosses that are being delivered in the box, freekicks and corners are horrible, even I could do it better than i have seen in games and Im not training as much as the players. If he is not able to get the basics right in training, with players he has bought himself, then i know he is doing something wrong, even without attending training sessions. Of course there is opposition in training, they are playing against our own defence/midfield/attack/substitution players, he has a squad of at least 25 players at his disposal. If they are doing all the things in training right, but not in the matches, then he must have a serious word with his players and the responsibility falls back on Bruce. No, Koeman hasnt become a bad manager, but things change, he lost some of his most influencial players. Just like Benteke was important for us, Lukaku was carrying Everton and we all know how tough it was to loose Benteke, but in the end, its koeman who is responsible to find proper replacements.
  21. Same for me, offered himself a lot down our right hand side, but instead of sending him down the wing, Elmohamdy decided to lump it forward. It was really frustrating to watch
  22. I dont agree with the bold part, I think he is largely responsible for what goes on, on the pitch, otherwise, what do they do in training. They should be training defensive and attacking setup, how they run in midfield, wings and attack, when and how they release the balls to get into the best attacking positions, they should be training to keep pressing 3-5 seconds after loosing the ball, to close down the opposition and if they dont do it in training, they wont do it on matchdays. He should correct all the mistakes and flaws during the 5 days training during the week, and if the players dont do what they are instructed to do, stop training and explain what they are doing wrong, so they can improve, during the next play. In reality, I dont think Steve Bruce is training the players in the above mentioned. If he does, he is doing a shitty job.
  23. From where I was sitting, people weren't happy with the setup today and weren't happy with Bruce, so it's not just here we have divided opinions. What I found strange today was his substitution. Why take Snodgrass of and put Hogan on the right, when Hogan wasn't doing anything at all?? And why keep Whelan on? it's difficult to play with a midfielder who is watching the game pass by him and doesn't run.
  24. Thanks for the recommendation, Aston Tavern is great and packed
  25. Great, thanks I appreciate it. I'll have a look when I'm sitting in the airport tomorrow
