We’d be in a much better position if he could find his shooting boots

I don't think he owns a pair sadly.

He is nowhere near good enough if we want to be a top 10 club.

Even in his best season for us he could hardly be described as prolific.

This Gerrard/Kinahan link is very troubling I think. If I was the owners, I would be very concerned.

His daughter goes out with Byrne's son.. It's commonplace to meet your daughters boyfriends family at some stage.

I agree that he shouldn't have much to do with him but I wonder was Gerrard even aware of who exactly he was meeting.

Quite enjoyed that, thought the design was decent as well, with just a few tweaks here and there and it would be pretty solid. I think we should have Aston Villa written along the top right of the circle in between the arrow heads. I think it is still important for ID especially for those looking to follow a team from abroad.

Incidentally, I’m surprised no one has come up with a design which incorporates the gas lamp in some way? Whether it be a small nod to it or something more obvious…

Would look class on the back of the shirt where we usually have the lion.

    Gas lamp with 1874 underneath

We are heading to Tayto Park to celebrate my son kicking cancers ass!! So will miss this one but I hope it's not a cricket score.

Fantastic. Puts it all in perspective. Congratulations and have a great day!

In the 20 years from 1990 to 2010 we had seven managers, who enjoyed some respectable positions in the league and league cup wins.  In the last 12 years we have had nine managers and next to no success apart from cup runners up and promotion via the Championship play offs.

Supposedly one of the ‘sleeping giants’ it is like we have fallen into a coma. Gerrard is almost certainly finished and in my opinion our current owners don’t have much to crow about. What is it going to take to wake us up?

If only the top 4 had qualified for Champions League during those years in the 90s.

Mad to think in the first year of the Premier League both ourselves and Man United were on 7 titles and battling it out for an 8th.

I'm not sure what it's going to take to wake us up but it's such a shame to see clubs we were consistently better than for the majority of that 1990-2010 period pass us out (for example West Ham, Leicester and of course Man City)

Obviously City are where they are now because of ridiculous amounts of cash and we're never going to compete with that but the hope is we get our scouting and coaching structure right at some point and some day push for top 4 or even top 6.

At the moment that's a long long way away though

Carragher saying Gerrard won’t have any complaints about being sacked if the four games after City don’t go well.

I can understand Carragher backing one of his close mates.

What I don't understand is the stranglehold he seems to have over the rest of the media.

I've seen very few pundits criticise him whether they're ex Liverpool, Man United or any other club.

If this were anyone else there'd be far more pressure coming on him from outside the club.

Even the bookies don't have him as money on to be sacked next which I find crazy

i think his "tactics and formation" is basically him trying to audition for Liverpool.

Unfortunately, its not working, but he's too stubborn to accept it and change it cus it will mean accepting that he cant make the Liverpool system work here.

Willing to sink a club to try and win his audition.

He has failed his audition massively anyway.

Not a hope in a million years he'll get the Liverpool job now.

They'll be looking for a top manager to replace Klopp when he goes and have gone way past the years when they made sentimental appointments.

Jimmy Tarbuck has a better chance of landing that job than Gerrard.

  8. Personally think Postecoglou would be excellent for us. His football is great to watch and players who have played under him rave about him and his knowledge of the game.

Wouldn't be opposed to Rodgers either and we might have no compensation fee given the way things are going at Leicester

Remember that time we managed to turn ourselves from finishing 16th to finishing 6th just by signing Gavin McCann and Thomas Sorensen.

What a player McCann was 👏

Ridiculous energy in the middle of the park.

How we could do with a guy like him now

  10. Not giving up on Coutinho yet. No chance.

If we find the right system and start playing a bit of decent football we'll hopefully see the best of him again.

When on form he's our best player by a long way.

In the current system though he's useless. Definitely needs to be dropped.

Why would leon bailey even consider Ajax that to me is a such a backwards move in his career. If reports were true of course

The way we've been playing it's hard to imagine there's such thing as a backwards move 😭

Mcginn has hit his ceiling simply not good enough cannot retain the ball, cannot pass the ball and tackles normally leads to fouls.

Gerrard hasn't helped himself by giving him the armband but mcginn is getting worse by the week.

Ten Haag dropped maguire that's what a manager does drops failing players, mcginn is only in because the guy who cannot manage is absolutely blinkered and thinks the hardest trainers are automatic starters.

Agree with this and because such a song and dance was made about the captaincy it feels like Gerrard is afraid to admit he's got this one wrong by taking him off when he should/not starting him in the first place.
