    So...

    • 41 for Mings (Highest)
    • 34 for Young (3rd highest)
    • 18 for Watkins (highest among the front 3)

... where was McGinn during all that possession/passing down our left?

No midfielders at all in the top 3.

It's a damning indictment on the current coaching setup.

I get McGinn isn't playing well but it seems a lot of our players are falling victim to our complete lack of tactics

EDIT: I misread and thought that was the top 3 but my point still stands. Not one of our midfielders, whether they be attacking or defensive is thriving in the current system. In fact every single one of them is regressing at a rapid rate.

Make no mistake Gerrard will be gone, as will Liz Truss- in both cases, it is  when rather than if.

One taking a great club into oblivion

the other selling the country down the toilet

    But both equally inept

What about a swap deal til the end of the season?

If we win the next 2 games which is easy enough as we win games for fun. Plus no other team in the league plays in that time, yes we are looking at top 6.  Thanks Tim.

    😀

He's talking like they're two easy games for us.

Fulham and Brentford will be expecting a result as well.

The article in telegraph that broke the Poch news said, we would wait if Poch showed interest.  Seems like a deal with him is some way off.

Does that mean Gerrard gets potentially an unlimited amount of games before we push the button?

I really don't think we're in a position to wait too long if that's the case.

We need Gerrard gone and a new man in ASAP.

If we hang on to him much longer the new manager could have a huge fight on his hands to keep us in the league

  5. He's going to come good again as soon as we have a proper manager.

At least that's what I'm going to keep telling myself.

The "system" we're playing at the moment is robbing him of a chance to show his worth

The Guardian’s predicted lineup has Ings in for Watkins, Dendoncker in for Ramsey and Bailey in for Buendia.

What are peoples thoughts on that if it’s accurate?

Not the team I’d pick but I’d at least be happy for Watkins to finally be dropped, been a long time coming.

Would have stuck with Buendia but thankfully Watkins is dropped (if it's accurate).

LADS only way to solve this problem, might request a forum actually so everyone is aware.

‘GERRARD OUT❗️ ‘ banners need to come out in full force on Sunday as it appears the fans are not being heard and purslow is telling the owners that we’ve been  ‘unlucky’ which we know to be absolute nonsense… so lets get these out so they cannot ignore us, cant express this enough

I want him gone too but I don't agree with this.

Would rather see us get behind the team for the 90 minutes and not create a toxic atmosphere for the players.

By all means boo him/chant Gerrard out at full time but I think our focus should be getting three points no matter who the manager is.

  8. He has been terrible all season I know, but like others on the team I hope we see a massive improvement when we get a half decent manager in.

Genuinely think Gerrard could make Haaland look awful.

Its a wasted year that put us back to where we were in summer 2020 because Purslow has an arrogant obsession with Gerrard. Newcastle for example have powered past us and we will struggle to even catch up with them

    Correct.

Purslow has made it seem like tiny little Aston Villa are so lucky to have the star name Stevie G come to the club and he obviously still thinks that way because if it was anyone else they'd be sacked by now.

It has been a terrible appointment and Purslow's disappearance from the media over the past few months is no surprise.

Would be happy to see the back of the pair of them.

I think if you gave Gerrard any one of the Premier League sides they’d be in a worse position than they currently are. He’s not a struggling genius working with his hands tied behind his back, he’s a very poor manager.

A very poor manager who was no doubt using us as an audition for his big role at Liverpool.

A role he has absolutely no hope of getting now after the past 12 months.
