What’s this? I’m watching pregame coverage and the pundits keep talking about how dangerous Villa are, what a fun team to watch and how good Emery is?

What strange planet is this? Alternate reality?

Where are you seeing this Just checked peacock and it’s not on there

Can’t stand Southgate, how on earth does maguire get picked played 0mins for utd, same goes for Philips at city and Henderson in that league, sooner he gets the boot the better

Maguire and Phillips have both not kicked a ball this season and if you look back at it most of last season too and both clubs look to use anybody but them including in maguire a case a left back in his position that’s how bad the clubs think these players are. Not Southgate no he has them straight in and the guy from the shepherd headers league as well. Pathetic

But Kalvin Phillips won the treble last season, how many players can say that? What a superstar he is.

And he is fresh as well having not got a single minute on the pitch so far this season

Udinese striker Beto flying into Liverpool today to complete move to Everton for £25.75 mil

I think they need a £125 million striker to get them scoring. Such a poor side from back to front. I actually think they look worse than we did in 15/16

  5. I think he is settling in fine given the circumstances he came into the team. Not perfect at all but not bad and you can see his natural ability is there and I think give it a month and we will be seeing what a really high quality player he is.

That moment when he feinted and sold it to the Hibs player who did a cartwheel past him was beautiful.

Edit - It's not quite as devastating as I remember it but it's still pretty good - at the end of this clip:

What’s clear for me is any side that gives Doug that space is getting destroyed. You can’t give him that time to pick his passes or he just picks you off but then he is that good that you press him he shows for it plays a little lay off and we are through the press. Really impressive player and some of this one twos with mcginn and kamara were disgustingly filthy

Digne’s played fine. Having Moreno back is a great outlet too.

Digne looked excellent so far Bailey too for that matter but diaby looks some player and once he is fully up to pace with the premier league what a player he is going to be for us

I'm late to this, but I'm assuming this was written by a 7 year old who was raised by a male single parent who happened to be a committed neo-nazi and convicted spousal abuser (multiple times)

It’s a fairly disgusting attempt to basically ask everyone to just brush everything under the carpet because he is a decent footballer and they need a striker so club need before the wider needs of society. Speaks volumes of Utd as a club. FWIW if this was a Villa player we were discussing I don’t care who it is I would but be welcoming them back into the squad

I do wonder if he'd have ever played as much at Chelsea if it wasn't for that transfer ban where they had to throw him, Tomori, Abraham etc in.

The answer is no I think given as soon as they could sign players he was hardly used. I remember saying to my mate years ago mason mount is doing his best to get lampard the sack at Chelsea by being no existent although lampard has proved what a bad manager he was since then but he kept picking mount and he did nothing and then got sacked. They must have had a huge party when Utd rocked up and asked if they fancied £60 million

Like I need an invitation to boo Man United players. Horrible squad of players.

It was staggering they had a dressing room a couple of years ago which included Greenwood, Ronaldo, Fernandes, Pogba, Lingard, Shaw, Maguire etc. Just imagine having to deal with that as a manager. Poor Ole. Haha

Add Anthony into that. Not only is he a shit footballer his ex girlfriend is about to take a 70 page document detailing domestic abuse to the police. Utd the stomping ground of alleged  abusers and rapists. Disgusting

I’m pretty sure that was one of the few knocks against Pau at Villareal. That he struggled with the high line. Mings speed is crucial for it, Bardell has said as much too. It’ll be interesting to see if and how Emery adapts.

I have to say im not sure why we play such a high line given we have to get it right every time otherwise the opposition are in. It only takes one lapse and we get exposed but I thing regardless with the training ground work pau will be fine it’s clear he is quality it might just take him  few games to fully get up to speed which now will be sooner than maybe we all thought

I think you're right but at the same time it's now wider than just their style of football, their treble, their 3 titles in a row, 4 out of the last 5

Man City as an entity are boring, the PL with them in it is boring

Yep I agree on that for sure, we are in danger as a premier league of become like the Scottish, French or German league and it soon erodes the interest of your only looking at a race to see who comes second although the premier league more than others often seems to go in cycles so hopefully that’s what this is

  13. I found it interesting watching the Burnley game that the Burnley fans were singing boring boring city. I enjoyed that because personally I find watching Man City really dull and lacking in any excitement, I just don’t find watching a team have 75/80% possession and boring teams into submission very interesting and I enjoyed realising I’m not the only one. I also was equally amused at the sky commentators attempts to tell us that city are not boring just controlled and that we should all admire them.

im obviously not saying city are bad as they clearly are not, they have the best team in the league probably but it doesn’t mean they are fun to watch. Also I will say I don’t normally bother watching them but the wife was out and I was slightly excited for the start of the season but that evaporated after about 3 minutes

I think that sex should play no role in the conversation. I don't care what body parts one footballer might have against the other - and that goes for any other profession, an accountant, an F1 driver, a scientist etc.

Let's think a little outside these parameters and stop judging performance based on sex.

With this in mind, I am more than happy to compare one football tournament to another. It's the same sport. In my eyes, it's exactly like comparing the Champions League to the championship. Comparisons can be made. It's different levels of an exact same thing.

Women's world cup is very entertaining, they are top athletes at the peak of their game. But the quality of skill isn't as high, even comparing to league 2 in men's game. There is no sexism in accepting that. As a football fan I can only watch so much, and unfortunately Women's game isn't that high on my priority list.

It's got it's perks and it's definitely fun to watch - but I think that if I spend 90mins in front of a TV a couple of times a week, I enjoy a different type of football too much. And I think that is the Women's game biggest downfall - football fans can only watch so much, and there is a lot to choose from.

I am really interested if you think that is a fair view on it.

I’m kind of in the same place as you with this. I only have so much time to watch football and my priority is Villa (mens) either at VP or on tv Sky, BT or if needed peacock) then maybe one of the Sunday games if I get a chance so women’s football is fairly low down my interest  list for the reason that I just on a personal basis don’t find it that interesting or exciting in the same way as I don’t watch a league 2 or none league game when they are on tv. I think it’s great that these different levels of football are available to those that wish to consume them it’s just not for me

Football Insider are a mostly embarrassing clickbait machine. Example being they claimed we were signing Oxlade-Chamberlain long after it was proven false.

All of the noise from football outsider is rubbish. They are usually the ones that say “Villa spent £20 million on emi Martinez and would want at least that much back for him” when in reality we all know it would require closer to £120 million to tempt us. Same with dougie and this rubbish, spurs are a nothing side  and generally a laughing stock. Arsenal could be more realistic if they hadn’t just spent over £100 million on rice and nearly as much as havertz. I imagine with 3 years left on his deal we would want a minimum of £75-80 million and I don’t see that coming from arsenal. Most likely is we offer him a huge wage bump to sign another couple of years extension

Spurs continue to be hilarious. They aren’t going to get a better deal if Bayern pull out.

They really are, it’s so rare that you would find a recent champions league and premed league runners up being the leagues laughing stock but it seems like that’s the case with spurs. Even when they were overachieving I don’t think any real football people were taking them seriously and this glorious Kane fiasco shows why. If he has any sense which is doubtful but if he does he will see out his contract and demand a signing fee of £80+ million next year for saving which ever club he goes to a huge transfer fee. The other thing I find strange about Kane is 5 years ago at the age of 25 when he had been banging in goals for 2/3 seasons why did he sign a 6 year contract ? That seems agent sackingly stupid to me. Why wouldn’t he just sign for 3 years with an option to extend. It seems to me that the only people to benefit were spurs by keeping him two years longer than he wanted but hey looks like they even messed that up with a 8th place finish despite his 30 goals and then losing him for free 🤡

  17. The lad has hardly had a sniff at our first team and looking at the squad I don’t see where he is getting much game time with us over the next couple of years so a sale with a favourable buy back clause might suit all parties.
