The Rashford interview is hilarious to me. Saying he is committed to United and you shouldn’t say otherwise when his performances and actions off the pitch are the actual evidence.

Is this the 3rd time in 5 years he’s downed tools. Even in the two good periods I remember watching him thinking he was lazy and wasteful but luckily the goals came.

If I were United and PSG offer to take him I’d bite their hands off.

He would suit PSG or the French league because you can wander around not doing much and still win easy enough. I hope they don’t yet and buy him because I’m getting fed up of sides like Utd and Chelsea being able to offload their rubbish for more money than they should get. I would much rather other teams left these players where they are to punish Utd and Chelsea for bad decisions  making.

on rashfords performance yesterday, other than the goal which was a great strike I thought his performance other than that was poor and his usual lazy self. In comparison to someone like Phil foden who I know plays in a different position but it’s still like night and day with the energy and intensity

Just personally I don't think points totals are that helpful to think about now -- we're in a race with Spurs for that fourth place spot, everyone else is pretty much irrelevant. We basically just need to match their results, and as the above @viivvaa66 points their current trajectory is only slightly shallower than ours.

In short it's going to be a long hard slog to the end of the season as I don't see Spurs letting up too many points now.

I agree spurs might and probably won’t drop loads of points but they do have a run of 4 games starting with Newcastle away then in an order I can’t remember Liverpool Man City and arsenal so that could be a very tough 4 game run. I know we have Liverpool Man City and arsenal to play but not one after another so that little run could make or break them

As delighted as I was with that unexpected winner, on that second - half performance, we hardly deserved a point. Genuinely felt a bit for Luton.

Had we threw that away, I would have been castigating Cash for allowing that Luton throw  - in to go down the line which led to the free - kick and their second. Shocking defending.

To be fair konsa pulling the guy back to was pathetic and unnecessary. The guy was in the touch line with cash getting back around. Just let him go and defend the next phase

Whenever he is injured and takes a while to get back up to speed we need to stop forgetting how unique he is when he is fully fit. There is not many players that can drive with the ball the way he does. It’s a nightmare for opponents.

It frustrates me how quickly some fans forget the abilities a player has when they have a bit of bad form.  It’s probably been done with every player in the squad bar Martinez.

I agree when fully fit he has something that most teams don’t have and that’s the ability to drive us up field at pace and with purpose also he is very good at joining up with our counter attacks with his pace and power

  5. I’m sure I’m being thick here but excluding wages etc when it comes to transfer costs am I right in thinking hypothetically and simplistically if we sold £30 million worth of players we would have £120 million to play with based on 4 year contracts excluding and money still owed on a player that leaves ?

  6. Amrabat on loan at Man Utd I’m throwing in there. If we had signed him I would have been massively underwhelmed and disappointed. Seems to be the central midfield version of Anthony (I know he is left back today ) likes to showboat take lots of time and try Hollywood passes but actually provides no quality at all

Moises Caicedo, in the top ten most expensive players in history.

    Pub player.

I always thought he looked busy at Brighton but not an outstanding footballer. Certainly not worth the money or probably even half the money Chelsea paid for him and I could see him struggling to get in the team next season. Bassouma who ciacado replaced is in my opinion a much better footballer

  8. Just out of curiosity are we looking at contract talks with him? I guess we would wait to the end of the season and see where we are with Europe but it must be on the cards

Never liked him in Boyzone so I’m not about to believe his transfer tittle tattle.

I honestly don’t think Emery would be tempted to go anywhere at the moment. He’s on the up at Villa and has all the support he could want, his project is only at the start.

I agree taking that job is similar to taking the PSG job. Do a couple of years with no real chance to build something and I expect they would see him as 3rd 4th 5th choice probably behind the likes of some like poch 😂

however what I think the gerrard to Emery move has showed me is that with the growing headache for most clubs these days of FFP having an elite manager who can make players better rather than a Jose who has to buy a team of the best players is Worth their weight in gold. More valuable than almost any player.

Kamara's ACL probably makes our midfield transfer situation a bit clearer at this point.

Luiz and Ramsey are clearly the big players most likely to depart in the summer. There's very credible noise behind both of them at this point. You imagine the (hypothetical) combined sales of Luiz and Ramsey would bring in around £150m, with a sizeable chunk of that being an academy sale for FFP. Combined with some more deadwood clearing, and you'd imagine that would significantly alleviate the concerning finance figures being banded round by UEFA.

From that point, it's getting in a replacements. IMO we might have already signed Ramsey's (long-term) replacement in Rogers. Bring in a Nunes on top of that, and Villa might be on track to have cleverly manoeuvred past a difficult FFP situation: hopefully not at too much detriment to the team.

Not sure how selling both Ramsey and luis would not have to much of a detrimental effect on the team given they are both key first team players. If we have no head room with FFP (which I doubt) then why would we sell players that we know work in the way we want to play for what most likely would be lesser players therefore taking us backwards. Seems like wanting to sell players just for the sake of wanting to sign players. If it’s not broke don’t fix it

Not at this stage. The points we've lost there can be regained in the many games remaining at those points.

If/when we get shafted in the last 3 or 4 games and let Spurs/Man Utd ahead of us then we'll struggle to pull it back. VAR arguably hasnt cost anyone a title/European qualification in a defining end of season game yet... sods law says we'll be the ones irrevocably shafted by it to benefit of at least one of The Amazing Big Six

To be fair it could cost both us and Liverpool given spurs got a win against Liverpool due to a Liverpool goal being given offside due to VAR being pathetic. If we miss out on top 4 by a point or Liverpool miss out on the title by a point then it’s made a huge difference and that’s without the slightly subjective but fairly clear to most errors

Those two actually had a few decent games for us, as well as some mediocre games. However, if we’re talking chuckle brothers then the Richards Lescott pairing takes some beating.

I remember ridgewell and baker too. It’s like pau and konsa when fit are playing a different game

Torres didn't look like he needed to get up to speed he was on it from the off. Great finishing from Ollie and still not sure how we didn't get a penalty from either the ref or the officials at Stockley Park.

Just watched the highlights and I’m not on the conspiracy theory bandwagon but ffs putting the offside lines against Bailey who wasn’t involved rather than Moreno is almost as bad as ruling out Liverpool’s goal vs spurs and as for that Penalty on Watkins that shouldn’t need VAR to give the pen because it’s clear and obvious but for VAR to then not overturn it, Jesus Christ that’s mad.

  14. Quote from Emery said “he is going to be out for the rest of the season maybe more or less in September or October he is coming back “

if we had him back by October that would a result for sure

well, we will need a DM now for sure, Kamara probably wont be back until christmas 2024, and probably wont be remotely fit and up to speed until the new year of 2025, So somewhere between dec 2024 and feb/mar 2025 before he's fully back with us and hopefully playing to the same level as before.

assuming its a 9-12 month recovery period.

I think we should look to loan someone to cover bouba otherwise we spend a big % of our budget to cover someone for less than a year. Or ideally Tim comes in and performs well enough

Inform ramsey from end of last season would have probably bagged hattrick last night.

Have to look at the positives of him being involved so much and looking better with moreno by his side. Looked more like last season without the output

I think emery will now stick with him for the next few games.

I thought for the most part he was excellent yesterday picking the ball up and turning in dangerous areas and driving. Yes end product was not great but that will come but first time all season he looked like Ramsey of last year. Power and forward drive and we are going to need that for the run in. It’s mad that he has hardly played this season, even more annoying that he got injured playing for England

Even eight and I think we'd have been o.k (just).

Five just seems too fragile now, basically two defeats or even two draws in a role and they win two and suddenly there's just a point in it.

It’s 6 points realistically as we have about 20 goals better on GD but still without bouba it’s a big ask given as we saw yesterday Utd are a god awful team but reputation alone will see them win more games than they should. Can’t see anyone other than them catching us unless we hardly pick up a point

It's not an ideal situation, but big careers sometimes get made when injuries present an opportunity. Understandable that people would be skeptical, but did Newcastle fans think Lewis Miley would get so much time and play so well?

I agree time to throw him in now. I have seen some of our youngsters come on and think nope nothing there but with this guy I see him and I think he has that something that could make him a top player. It’s not the way I would like to see him come in but that’s the cards we have been dealt

  19. This is getting ridiculous now have any other teams had three season destroying and career ruining (in the sense that no player returns better from an acl) in one season to key players. I knew the league was corrupt but I didn’t realise that the premier league gods were so keen to keep the premier league top 4 a closer shop. But hey nobody has suffered as much as spurs from injuries 😂

  20. Annoying how shit Utd are and yet we should have scored 5 or 6 but lacked the composure and they we get done by the worst set piece defending you will see and then another piece  of awful defending from a basic cross. Really poor and annoyingly at 1-1 I txt my son and said 2-1 Utd rashford 96th minute and I got that wrong too. Unfortunately like those games when we bottles going top this looks like the game that starts normal service for the sky teams getting champions league. Feels this league is corrupt but hey that’s probably just my sour grapes. However I am Adamant this Utd side are shit but I expected them to win lots of games 2-1 1-0 where they are shit just because that’s how the premier league works

What’s with this sudden anti Carlos and Lenglet rhetoric? The new scapegoats?

Frustration I would say. It’s very clear we are so much weaker with these two at centre back with our 3 best central defenders injured. Weirdly the media don’t mention out injuries at all do they given that out back 4 has arguably 3 starters missing. Spurs have one centre back injured and another suspended due to his own idiocy and they choose to play 2 full backs at centre half and sky don’t stop taking about how unlucky they are
