  1. Puma if not Nike. Whoever voted Kappa needs their heads checking, can you imagine a Villa shirt with those stupid shoulder logos like on the Fulham shirt?
  2. Time to 'scrap' January transfer window - LMA Scrap something which provides so much entertainment outside the 90 minutes your team are on the pitch? No thanks. Even when we had MON and windows weren't the most exciting it's hard to keep away from Sky Sports/BBC Sport/VT for all the gossip and general chaos of the thing, I'm sure my F5 key will be well broken by the end of the day. It's the one time the strict "this is a business" logic of modern football breaks down and it all just goes mental, £30m for Carroll?! £50m for Torres?! Great stuff
  3. Sorry don't agree on Makoun... I thought he looked very tidy... very quick and decisive with his passing...doesnt need to run all over the place because he does what he does efficiently. It was his debut for god sake..... give him a chance! Bent made some great runs and would have been dissappointed alot of them weren't picked up. We should have been at least 3 up by half time. We had some very flowing moves at times. This, and also sideways passing isn't a bad thing. It allows you to retain possession and wait for space to play a ball forward into instead of the aimless hoofing we resort to at times which just gives the ball away and leads to us being put under pressure again. In fact it's just what we needed to take the pressure off towards the end of that match.
  4. Madness indeed, McLeish is the only thing that joke of a club has got going for it. Surprised he hasn't got the hell out of there sooner to try and save his reputation.
  5. The board is stuck in a catch 22, the form has been awful since he came in with some especially embarrassing performances but sack him and it's just going to cause massive instability with no obvious inspirational figure to replace him and turn things round. While it's proven to be a bad appointment over time when he came in I was part of what seemed to be the consensus believing GH to be the best available option. We're in too deep now though, if he was going to be sacked it needed to be done pre-January but RL was never going to be lining up a Plan B in the background that early due to his character. He seems to be a decent kind of guy so was always going to back GH and give him time after whatever agreements were made when GH took over, it may prove to be a very damaging move but his character is also what makes him such a good owner/guardian of the club. So that's where I see ourselves, just having to hold on and hope GH can turn it round and with some good work in the window making his style of football one that wins matches and gets us away from danger. I'm 50/50 on if he will, I have no doubt there is the quality in the existing squad, let alone with any new faces to do it but just don't know if he can get them together and fighting to get away from the scary end of the table.
  6. Walker MOTM, good scoreline that masks another poor performance.
  7. That's a bit harsh, I think we've been marginally the better side - it's not great but I've seen worse. Pilchard - it's just over six hours since we last scored a league goal. We only seem to hold onto the ball if we're passing it all the way back to Friedel, otherwise we just hand it over on crossing the halfway line.
  8. I've experimented with some Lay betting for this first time, got in when people were sticking silly money on Bob Bradley a while back, shame it's taken so long for us to announce though.
  9. I think with Moyes it's more exactly what attracted the board to him is why he is unobtainable. Money doesn't come into it.
  10. Equally Phil McNulty has said in pretty clear terms it won't happen. BBC journos aren't normally too bold with sticking their neck out on this kind of thing in case their credibility takes a knock. Edit: RE: Moyes, this thread moves too quick for a lurker like me!
  11. It won't be forever. The sugar daddies will leave the game eventually, cutting and running from the clubs when they get bored or discover you can't buy your way to the top of the Champions League or even the Premier League. This will cripple the club just like happened at Pompey when there is no infinite pot of cash and they are tied into ludicrous contracts can never generate the income to cover. Where does this leave Villa? Midtable obscurity possibly but at least not in the dock in years to come like many teams trying to fight off HMRC. I think you're right, as a club I think all we can do is bide our time, be sensible with money and be stronger for it once this whole corrupt **** of billionaire playboys and their playthings falls apart.
  12. yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
  13. Steve Sidwells performance today was written by H.G. Wells.
  14. I've not been on the forum much lately, the endless speculation and itk becomes fairly tiresome after a while. I find some of the posts lately unbelievable though, the General's thread being the highlight of the whinge-fest. You know how I feel? Grateful, the team I love has been picked up from the doldrums, from constantly wondering if this year will be the one where the drop happens, constantly looking over our shoulders trying to compete in the bottom half of the table. Now we're looking at european football, exciting attacking play, players that other teams look at with envy. Rome was not built in a day and the squad has changed massively since the takeover and a solid core is being built, everyone maybe looking at the likes of Spuds throwing cash around like it's going out of fashion but it's not names on daft wages only in it for themselves that win, it's teams. On that point, if you don't think MON knows the flaws with the current squad and can't be bothered to do something about it you're a moron, this isn't Football Manager where you can sign Kaka and Messi at the drop of a hat, this is the real world.
