  1. Well you’ve taken that to quite the logical extreme, there is a whole gulf in between there. Devoid of any context though, sure I can see how it could just read as a BAU pre-match quote, if not a little odd. But in the context of quotes all within a week of: “Chelsea should be coming to Villa Park and wiping the floor with us”. Him favourable comparing the situation now to when he took over. Now our next opposition can’t be judged as newly promoted side. All taken together absolutely reeks of a man desperate to lower expectations to me.
  2. So I guess we can’t judge Forest as a newly promoted side either as they spent money. Absolute clown. Comical how transparent he is now being in trying to destroy any form of expectation.
  3. Can't believe Spurs are so high up the table, they look dreadful almost every time I watch them. Of course a 1-0 Kane penalty win is now incoming.
  4. Really? Shall we retire the shirt and just pack up shop then? I’d say replacing: Grealish, Trezeguet, Barkley, El Ghazi With: Buendia, Coutinho, Ings, Bailey Traore is still our player and Gerrard decided to bomb him out so won’t include for either. Defence we’ve added Chambers, Digne, Young and Carlos. For El Mohamady, Hause and Targett Midfield we’ve shipped out Hourihane and brought in Kamara, and Dendoncker for what that’s worth. Not a universe we aren’t stronger overall if not all over the pitch right now than then for me.
  5. The squad is considerably stronger than the one who finished 11th, yet even the players who were there then have regressed. Would Gerrard with the PSG squad at Aston Villa be higher than or current position, of course. Doesn’t mean our current players aren’t better than what we are seeing though, round pegs square holes spring to mind.
  6. Haaland is a Pro Clubs player some how come to life. Complete freak of nature
  7. Surprisingly poor game so far, very much cancelling each other out. City Liverpool that is.
  8. Can’t think of another side that gets smoke blown up their arse by commentators anywhere near as much as Liverpool. Sky showing the Top 11 the other day summed it up perfectly Bet their current predicament is paining the media greatly.
  9. Perhaps today, definitely in the first half. But all in all we are exactly where we deserve to put for his tenure, the long term stats say it all.
  10. PLEASE can we now just end this failed experiment. Will go down as one of the worst managers in our history. The “unbeaten run” argument is void now as if that held any water.
  11. I’m convinced it’s just people who need to take the contrarian position at this point.
  12. Indeed, unless I’m remember incorrectly him getting injured coincided with our form derailing but he’s never seemed to get another shot.
  13. As suspected once they’d adjusted to stop us exploiting their high line with our pace in behind we’ve looked completely devoid of ideas. It wasn’t so much of the fact of “why don’t we play like the first half all the time” as no side is going to give you that luxury, we exploited it well when allowed but still couldn’t capitalise.
  14. Well you know, everyone thought they’d wipe the floor with us.
  15. Imagine having the career Gerrard had and then just hearing that Demba Ba chant every week
  16. Need to trust the wall, shite goalkeeping there.
  17. Such strange play from Chelsea, leaving loads of space in behind for us which is madness in itself as we are constantly exploiting it with our pace. And once they get the ball they are just trying to lump it to Sterling and time and again effortlessly cleared by CBs or scooped up by Martinez. Again this is not to say we aren’t playing well.
  18. I thought it was just Leicester who did that in the top flight. Most tin pot chant in football.
  19. Double change an admission they’ve been poor, pointing this out doesn’t mean we didn’t play well. Both things can be true. Little chance we find it anywhere near as easy to get in behind with pace on the break this half though I think.
  20. We played well but it was all made possible by Chelsea’s high and extremely porous line allowing us to use our pace to get in behind, I’ve seen far too much of Gerrard to get my hopes up in 45mins that we’ve suddenly turned a new leaf. 2nd half will be the real test when Potter adjusts to stop us exploiting this, and there’s little chance they’ll be as sloppy in possession.
  21. Watkins is all graft. 0 technique or finesse, like a modern day Heskey. Thinking about, maybe Shane Long
  22. Agreed. We need to go in at 1-1, we won’t be getting the space in behind with such ease in the 2nd half. Or expect them to be so sloppy when in possession.
  23. Does it have to be one or the other? They’ve been awful.
  24. Need to make this count, they won’t be this poor 2nd half
