    it's europe, this game will be a taster for the group stages. OMG it's gonna be awesome, I think the roof will come off villa park if we get AC Milan
    I'm afraid it's the wheels that will come off if we get AC Milan.

    not neccesarily....if we can beat chelsea we can beat AC Milan. I think we cannot really avoid a big team in the group stages. Sevilla, AC, Valencia, there is plenty more too.

    If someone printed the best ones out on a sheet of A4 paper, and then a couple of people put on one each seat in a section of the Holte (with the General's permission of course)... then that might work spreading the word.

    That'd be the best way to get the words around I'd have thought.

    I suggested that ages ago and people said I was a complete saddo!

    But you are right it is the best way to get word around. I just like the idea of us being original in some way and I think having some completely new chants to new tunes would get a bit of a different atmosphere and get families singing as well.

    I doubt parents will be sitting in the Trinity with their kids singing together

    as much as they are good at City games (cov and small heath) I think we need to really try and get chants out there that won't just be sung by the Holte End hardcore.

    that is the easiest chant for him you will ever get, it's basically the original tune.

    the way the melody goes in the tune it would be exceptional to hear the crowd singing it. Epic would be the apropriate word

    Good work but can't see the Holte End chavs picking up on anything more sophisticated than "Martin, give us a wave...".

    I always feel a little embarrassed at home games, but that's just me. I'm sure some will agree and disagree in equal measure.

    Ya damn right. I myself do feel a little embarassed. It's like some of Villa fans can't learn anything new. I am sure our average fan's IQ isn't that low, but people against learning something new is contrary to that.

    It makes a better atmosphere at the club and we need chants that kids can sing as well. I am sure "shit on the city" or "my old man" isn't really the best way to get the families and in the Trinity and Doug Ellis stands going.

    This thread was merely to bring together all the decent and original chants villa fans on this board had thought of, and to try and get some more in the mix and people on this fans board to join in if any are sung on the terraces.

    I fear the only way to get a good group of us together is wait until next season and try and get our season tickets in exactly the same area of the Holte end. I think 20-30 of us would be all it needs to get these about.

    the last time I tried something original people were looking at me as though I was a Paedophile that had just thrown shit into their face!

    Nice effort but it's not gonna work.

    Go to the back of the Holte and start them, or away games.

    They still wont catch on - I was singing;

    to the tune of Let it be on Monday, few people joined in and it got overtaken by his generic chant to that random tune.

    Right now villas chants for players consist of;

    Friedel, Friedel (over and over)

    duh duh duh, Martin Laursen/Curtis Davies.

    Theres only one Gareth Barry/Milner/Lerner

    Ashley Young, Ashley Young, Ashley Young

    and the Gabby and Carew chants.

    We do need to be more original but it will never catch on here

    No it won't but what it will do is if any of us DO start the chants posted above, hopefully a few more people will know how it goes and sing along. You are right that if people don't sing along on the terraces it won't get sung.

    But more often than not people are too far away so hear what the words are, so unless a chant is sung in a small group near you or in a pub at an away game you have no idea how it goes.

    I have already posted this in the complete chants thread so don't move it. it's already two pages back on there.!!!

    Firstly we should get a chant for James Milner. As you can see most of these are complete Villa Originals, lets try and keep it that way. Once we get one for Milner....we move on.

    Finally after hours of scouring this thread (95 pages) I have compiled a list of the best chants. Based on originality, likeness to original tune, how easy it is to learn and also based on the number of people in the thread liking it.

    Bear in mind chant is essentially music and is subjective but I have imagines the crowd singing these and they all seem to have the ability to be sung in unison and well if learned.

    I know some chants we do sing I haven't put in. If you know of any please post below and will make sure I get them in there.

    Hope you agree on the chants selected and that we can get them onto the terraces a.s.a.p

    I really think we should now try to focus on the players that DO NOT have their own chants in this thread. Nearly 1/3 of this whole thread were chants for Ashley Young. As great as he is, we need to make sure we can belt out a tune to support all our players and not single anyone out. So I plead with everyone who looks at this thread to help me finish off this list so all our squad has at least one chant.

    OK Firstly Paddy I think we are onto a winner with the Bamboelo chant for Cuellar, needs people to listen and see if they like it.

    If we focus on one player get a chant sorted and then move onto the next player. We can get this done in no time.

    What people really like and how chants get sung easy if they rhyme with the original tune as close as possible.
