  1. you could sing the ....my lord.... song for nearly ALL our players, its been suggested before than the holte end and north stand sing back to each other, so north stand sing ashley young my lord, then the holte end sing john carew my lord etc

I haven't heard North Stand vs Holte End banter for about 10 years mate. Used to be quality

"Holte end give us a song" "north stand give us a song". I don't think the crows is coherent and together enough to get it going again. Seems it's all Holte End at VP these days.

  2. the impossible dream is a great tune that would sound pretty sweet on the terraces. However, I feel that many people will not know the tune, the lyrics or even want to sing it.

It's also a very very very fiiting tune for Villa going forward. Developing into a bigger better, more together football club.

  3. I think it's the one day per year that I definitley don't do anything special for the missus - it always feels too contrived.

Not knocking anyone that does - it's just not for us.

    Seconded.

  4. It's not a waste of time at all.

If I want to do it I will do it. When I made the Ashley Young video people seemed to enjoy it.

To be honest the best emotion I have felt was when Liverpool sang you'll never walk alone just before the second half against Milan when they were 3-0 down. THAT's A FULL SONG!

  5. Killers - Human.... or shoudl I say Killers - Villa

We did our best to notice

When the ball came down the line

Up to the front man of the Villa

He had fought and he was fine

    And sometimes we get nervous

When we see an open game

    Close your eyes

    Clear your heart...

    Cut the cord

    Are we human?

    Or are we Villa?

    The sign is vital

    Our hands are cold

    And we're on our feet

    Looking for the answer

    Are we human?

    Or are we Villa?

(all start jumping up and down, singing the piano melody)

it's purely random, but it's a great tune to use on the terraces. Tried as usual to keep the rhyming as clode to the original as possible, to make it easier to sing.

  6. G'day General,

let me see if I can raise a minor issue regarding the official site. There was some discussion a while back about attendances for certain games and I'm assuming the life blood of AVFC is to get bums on seats regularly.

Surely we could simplify the Online Sales process, for the 'newbie' visitor to avfc.co.uk, to make it ridiculously simple to purchase tickets without having the Sales page 4-5 clicks away from the initial splash/homepage. I guess I'm talking about a big, unmissable "Click Here To Buy Tickets" somewhere on the homepage permanently.

I understand registration is essential to vet fans and ensure no away/troublesome fans get access to home areas, but if the club is trying to attract new fans to go with the new Villa then perhaps we could make it as painless and user-friendly as possible?

You never know, you might get some ticket sales on impluse (like most of mine) and before you know it, there's another Villan born.

    Just a thought!

I agree that the ticketing section of the website needs a little 'visual improvement' and also think once a user is signed in, should be a lot easier to quickly get your seats booked.

Amazons 'buy with one click' is a good example of making the user journey very simple. Details are saved, just requires confirmation of delivery and security details for card payment.

  7. as someone said anything under £100 I doubt they will bother chasing it. Purely because if the person says they cannot repay it back, they pass it onto companies that deal with debt collection. They will have their fee for taking on that case and I presume they will have a "minimum fee" of at least £25.

I would take advantage of the offer. I wouldn't go mad, I would draw out £30, get another £30 and that covers me for Chelsea at home.

  8. I wouldn't. Sure, it'd be bloody tempting but it would always be in the back of my mind that one day, I'll get a letter asking me for the money back I just fluffed away on a holiday.

you got a beefy daily limit or something :) I can only draw max of £250 in a day.

Suppose you could get to Ibiza for that. :)

Villa fans larging it up to "Panjoo" thanks to Nationwide.

  9. reminds me of the time someone I knew from school mistakenly got paid £1,200 (something like that), turned it was a cheque paid, but the person authorised it when the account details were wrong. He simply bought a laptop and when questioned said he didn't check his balance very often as he knew he was always in credit.

Think the bank had to cover the error in the end, as it wasn't his fault.

    Time have probably changed though.

  10. ATM's Double Money Error

Crowds queued at a cash machine in Manchester which gave double the amount of cash requested.

Word spread quickly about the error at the machine at the BP garage on Barton Road in Stretford on Thursday.

The giveaway went on for about six hours before the fault was reported to Nationwide building society.

The firm said it was "disappointing" that no-one reported it earlier. Those who took extra cash may now have to pay it back.

The machine gave £60 every time it was asked for £30, but also gave away more cash in different multiples depending on the money requested.

Some customers reportedly used several cards to withdraw money.

The Nationwide said it appeared the employee of a firm they use to top up the machine had loaded the notes in the wrong way.

A spokeswoman for the Nationwide said: "There was a problem. We are investigating what transactions took place.

"It is disappointing no one reported the matter earlier in the day when lots of people were aware and it is disappointing some people were deliberately using the machine to take extra money.

"Legally, recipients of payments made by mistakes are not entitled to benefit from it.

"We will reserve the right to contact people about the matter on an individual basis."

Banks borrow £250bn then expect customers to pay back a few thousdan quid?

hahaha, good on the peeps that queued up. Good on 'em. Hope they were the ones that needed the money the most.

  11. he's not our centre half though.......

"North Stand, give us a song, North Stand North Stand, give us a song!"

"North Stand, give us a song, North Stand North Stand, give us a song!"

"North Stand, give us a song, North Stand North Stand, give us a song!"

"North Stand, give us a song, North Stand North Stand, give us a song!"

"North Stand, give us a song, North Stand North Stand, give us a song!"

"North Stand, give us a song, North Stand North Stand, give us a song!"

  12. you don't need the "just" in the second line, other than that works well.

Still want my forever young chant to get going, but I need to get to an away game because me and my mates singing it seems to fall on deaf ears. It's been pretty loud in the Holte end the last few games which is probably why.

Need to get banter going again between the Holte End and North Stand. I think the "North Stand give us a song" stopped once we moved the away fans to the right. Remember North stand responding with "shit on the city once" then the second verse the whole of the Holte kicked in.

  13. I am hoping we beat Chelsea at home. I think we will get 3rd at that point because we will keep up with them until that match. They have United today and Liverpool inbetween the two Roma games. then they have us. They will be tired and hopefully concentrating on the next round of the champions league too. I want them to get through so they will have their eye on something else.

Liverpool to beat them and United, they can fight out 1 and 2 and we battle with Chelsea for 3rd.

  14. By the way, we were 2 - 1 up at hawthorns with a whole second half to play with Carew and Gabby up front.....why didn't we put the game to bed with half an hour to go?

Conversely, we were 2-1 up at Villa Park vs WBA with 40 minutes to play without Carew.. Why didn't we put the game to bed with half an hour to go?

this just proves that looking at statistics and making an assumption on the whole outlook of the team is pretty much POINTLESS and a MEGA FAIL!

we all do it, and this is just on aspect of why football is the most talked about sport in the world. A simple game with so many variables and statistics which we think we can predict by some basic analysis.

I love it. Everyones a player, ever managers a fan, every fan is a manager.

  15. Yeah we are coping well without him, but I still think we miss him in terms of we can only play one way now. Carew is very good at holding up the ball and I think then, we don't have to rely on our pace and counter attacking power.

So we miss this imaginary thing called a 'plan b'

Plan A has got us 27 points from 12, which is title winning form....I'll stick with that, thanks.

no there is no plan A and plan B, it's about being a dynamic 11 where you can craft many different opportunities in many different ways. We cannot hold the ball up well at all at the moment, and if we do, it's Gabby that is doing it, who is the main player you want running onto the ball.
