  1. Just about a spot on report there OBE. Ozzy did get stronger and stronger as the game wore on. He is so, so raw and can make embarrassing errors yet you can definately see what MON sees in him. There is something there that is special .Don't know what it is yet but its there , my god its there. Gardner put in some fearsome tackles and for the first hour absolutely ran the show( Ozzy ran it for the last half an hour) . He could have had 4 or 5 goals with a bit of luck.He has a touch of the Scott Parkers about him
  2. http://tinyurl.com/2deuxd had to post this. Simon Jordan is better than John Gregory when it comes to quotes. Todays Guardian- enjoy
  3. let em stay down and watch them slowly implode. Rather have the baggies as a derby. Nearly as much fun and none of the sleepless nights the week before.
  4. As the excellent piece by NV says, Nike don't deal with anyone and everyone. I think what we have to realise now is that our key executives are on a par with the key movers and shakers in world sport. Maybe Bob Kain did pull the Nike CEO's mobile number out of his extensive contact list. However this deal came about, it just proves that we will now be punching our weight. This board has been utterly convincing in every move they have made so far.
  5. With 2007 being such an important year for Aston Villa - the 25th anniversary of the date they on the European Cup, no less – it would be the fans’ dream to see a modern interpretation of the kit worn on that glorious night. It would be fair to expect that dream to be fulfilled by the Nike designers. Not simply because it would gain instant kudos with the fans, but because 26th May 1982 holds a special place in the hearts of Nike, too. As Bayern Munich stepped out onto the field dressed head to toe in adidas, the feet of Aston Villa’s players gave a worldwide début to Nike’s first attempt at “soccer†boots. We all know the result that night – Villa, and Nike footwear, crowned Champions of Europe at the first attempt. Quite a tale, and more than a hint of romance about it too. ^^^^^^ I never knew that
  6. well, I've learnt more about shirts and shirt deals reading that than I have ever learnt before. Brilliant read
  7. I think the answer to that was given by Ash himself when he said the gaffer sees him up front playing off Carew. This also figures when we know MON was in for SWP as well as Ash.
  8. agreed. Its as if someones just stolen all his Smiths CD's, burnt them and then come back for Morrisseys solo work.
  9. Birmingham Post sports headline says about O'Neills transfer blank. Looks like we don't have a cunning plan after all.
  10. scarily Brazil and Beakie on Talksport this morning linked Barry and Gabby with Chelsea.
  11. according to another villa site a certain Chris Burke from Rangers has been training at Bodymoor this week. Apparently a right winger . Can't find much about him other than he hasn't signed a new contract at Rangers
  12. good report John. Was that vertically challenged linesman the same one I remember being shit away to Fulham last Xmas? Just add that I thought Ridge was magnificent today. A fantastic aggressive performance of defending
  13. and that is the proof in the pudding that our club has been rotting away gradually. The only Villa fan in the year despite being 10 miles or so from Villa Park!!!. Kids are now glory hunters or knuckle draggers. 20 or so years ago when I grew up in Solihull it was more or less 50/50 Villa or Blues with the odd Manure/Scouser fan
  14. General, I think you can see from today that there is alot of hard work to put in to attract the fans back to Villa. I must admit I always thought they would come flooding back when Ellis went but that isn't the case obviously. Don't be disheartened, they will come, its justa matter of time. Get everything right on the pitch with some top signings and people will start to come back ( or indeed come for the first time) to see what all the fuss is about.
  15. General, a big thanks to Randy, Martin and your fellow directors for awakening the Villa from the coma its been in. You have given us hope, and that is what we have been crying out for over the last few years. There is such a buzz surrounding the club again. I look forward to games with expectation rather than dread. Keep up the good work. PS Any chance of buying Shaun Wright-Phillips in January?
  16. David Nugent is destined to score a shedload of goals for a premiership side. Whether thats us, Preston if they come up or another team, he will prove to be an Andy Johnson, Darren Bent type player. Natural goalscorer. I would take him like a shot
  17. To be honest I think Walcott was his replacement when Chelski gazumped them. Walcott will be a brilliant winger/forward
  18. guessing anyway but that kind of fee would only be stumped up by a few teams now. Newcastle- he wouldn't go, Spurs- got Lennon, Scousers- just bought Pennant which leaves little old Villa who are crying out for a winger . Maybe 8 mill or so but didn't he go to Chelski for 21 mill?
  19. right then, a theory for you. Frank Arnesen was at the Celtic Benfica game to look at Simao, because Wright-Phillips wants to leave in Jan............and the only team willing to pay 10 mill for Wright Phillips is.............
  20. Unless osmeone truly world class becomes available then McCann will be in the team. I honestly can't see anyone out there, and that includes Scott Parker that would be more effective for Villa in the role he is playing at the moment. First name on the team sheet at the mo I would reckon
  21. The Muckraker last Sunday. He said he would likely be at VP this week, not specifically Wednesday
  22. In short, we don't. What we can do is make educated guesses. The jet is very much the private jet of Mr Lerner. It is based at East Hampton, NY, which is the far reaches of Long Island, and probably one of the more 'remote' areas of NY (if that's possible) In order to fly transatlantic eastbound it needs to first go to West Hampton for enough runway with a full fuel uplift. It is therefore fair to assume that if the flight originates in East Hampton without a pick up in a metropolitan area, then the man is on it. For the record it landed at Luton 1014 on Friday and departed 0959 on Saturday. The time suggested in my Saturday evening arrival back in the USA posting was wrong. One of my resources sometimes recalculates times and sometimes doesn't! I will continue to monitor things and advise if it points this way again. I will not advise times or arrival points until after any flight has been completed, which you may have noticed is the way that I have done things up until now. Here's to another interesting week! Fascinating stuff thetrees. Think I'm going to knock this messageboard on the head.It just doesn't do it for me anymore. Boeingtalk.com for me from now on
