100% agree, wouldn't even be surprised if we try to offer him 5 years but doubt he would want to do that. Not a chance we will go in intending on 3. However, if he and the club both know he is going to leave at the end of next season anyway, then as long as he has more than 2 years left at that point it makes no difference really!

If you look back over his old tweets he suggested that compensation was sorted at the time we hired Lambert, which clearly wasn't the case. Also said that he had permission to talk to us before retracting that Lambert was going to have to walk, impostor i would say! Only thing is, people like that are normally desperate for attention... so why not tweet for about a year?

i think we will have 1 or 2 in early on in the transfer window, then maybe 1 or 2 on the last few days of the transfer window!! anybody followed the progress of Mbokani btw? was linked with us a few seasons ago and has gone on to do brilliant in belgium (quite similar to Benteke tbh!) Anderlecht fans reckon he's better than Lukaku, although he is 27 and Lukaku was about 18! Deffo worth a look as a replacement for Bent anyway!

i don't no why people keep banging on about needing a new CB! i think Barry Bannan could do an admirable job in that position but he just hasn't been given the chance!! the though of Bannan at CB is hilarious

The only way that the new money won't benefit us is if we wanted to buy a player from a another Prem team... that was never going to happen anyway!! Hopefully what it will mean is we will be more ambitious in our signing from abroad! Hypothetically what this new money will result in is players from the 4th and 5th teams in spain, now moving to the 6th and 7th teams in the premier league... and so on. Also Spanish teams are completely broke and English teams are richer than they have ever been! Lets sign all the good young players lol!

The fact that he is lightweight would cause problems in our formation, rather than a fancy attacking midfielder we need somebody who is physically capable of playing in CM but also getting into the CAM positions and contributing with goals! Ala Lampard! Diego playing in midfield would be the same type of thing as putting Ireland in there!

He's been there player of the season for the last two season!

I actually think we have sold players for good money so I don't worry that we wouldn't get a lot should benteke be sold I think we got good value for Downing, Young and Barry. Milner however i believe we cocked right up! Value is subjective and the money we got for Milner was of less benefit to us than having kept him! Having Ireland as an £8m make weight was ridiculous and his wages have burdened us for 3 years now! We would have been better off just letting him go for £16m than taking Ireland! Also because Ireland earns so much his wages have taken so much money out of Villa that it probably works out that we have gained about £5m from the Milner sale! Embarrassing really. I really really really hope that if Benteke goes to someone like spurs that we don't do a similar deal with players like Huddlestone (Although he is better than Ireland!) If Benteke goes in the summer for say £30m, we should go and buy Bony right away for about £14m then spend £8m on two top quality players!

Georginio Wijnaldum would be an amazing signing from PSV, or Nacer Chadli at FC Twente! really think we could do with a midfielder who can chip in with a few goals because relying on the front 3 for 95% of our goals is not going to enable us to push on! Pity Holman isn't a better player really

First ever post!! I've been really impressed with Sylla! Was at Reading for his first full match and he was top draw in that game. Nearly scored a screamer aswell, i reckon he's got a good shot on him and we might see him score a few beauties in the coming seasons!
