  1. The only guy I feel sorry for in this is Hiddink - brilliant coach
  2. Come off it, they're a a very very good team - Chelsea did very well, but they played to nick a goal at home - that tells you all you need to know about what a good footballing team Barca are. Wanted an Arsenal Barca final, but Man U will do. It won't even have to be a good game to be better than last year's borefest
  3. Redknapp still cracking me up - he can barely hold it together
  4. Think they tried to blank it but messed up
  5. The referee pretty much gave Barca as many chances as he could - probably about 3 major decisions (not all Barca's way), but who cares! Should be a great final - Barca will have Puyol back, so the defence won't be quite as shaky as it was at times tonight. Drogba and Redknapp hilarious, can't believe the ref didn't send Ballack off too.
  6. He's pretty much crying! Even better than Iniesta's goal
  7. At the moment, let's just hope he stops taking them!
  8. eloquently put and very apt IMO... interesting post. Excellent post - I'll be sad to see him go and he's been a great servant, last summer's shenanigans aside, but he does lack a certain something (as does Petrov), which means that with the two of them we can seem a bit stodgy. I hope that if he does go it will change us for the better, just like the first half season when we lost Yorke and got Dublin and Merson.
  9. Grill them - more flavour than if you bung them in the oven, less greasy than frying.
  10. Not sure what the point of this thread is - everyone knows James Milner is something grown-ups invented just to scare children.
  11. Not much tonight for me - last night's sequence would normally be the stuff of nightmares - I think some of the drinks must have cancelled others out - plus as it was a tasting a lot were only half measures (if anyone gets the chance to do the tasting experience at Vinopolis near London Bridge, I would thoroughly recommend it). Sequence was: mulled wine, bitter (X2), lager (pre-tasting), absinthe (x2), wine (x2), gin, wine (x3), bitter (x2), whisky, rum (x3), whisky, aftershock, whisky. Slept brilliantly.
  12. Yup, I'm certainly not putting into a pension. It's not worth 40 or (more likely 50 by the time I get there) years of working hard to squirrel away a little every month only to find it won't last me when I get there. I'd much rather have land that will give me something back.
  13. Just beer and single malt whiskey for me. Fair play to the guy who's got the cheeseboard out. What cheeses incidentally?
  14. Just a thought, maybe, but a good one nevertheless
  15. This one could work for Sunday... Chim chiminey chim chiminey chim chim cheroo Who needs Anelka when we've got Carew Chim chiminey chim chiminey chim chim chiree We've got O'Neill so keep Scolari A more general one: To the tune of Panic by The Smiths Panic on the streets of London Panic on the streets of Manchester It 's our Nigel, it's our Nigel, it's our Nigel Reo-Coker! Reo-Coker! Reo-Coker! Reo-Coker!
  16. Couldn't agree more - I'm growing them in my back yard at the moment, they've taken over where even the vicious invasive weed from next door couldn't - first one harvested was over 14lbs - that's a lot of soup and curry
  17. How was it cooked when you had it, and what exactly didn't you like? Too soft/crunchy, too dry/oily, too much/too little flavour? Did you have it shredded raw in salad, sliced and sauteed, or what? Peter I love all these posts with your avater - I thought I'd stumbled across some cookery agony aunt page. Fennel is bloody lovely though. Swede is the only one I don't like much, but even that has it's place.
  18. Hercules is brilliant! MON reminds me of someone who isn't MON, but I'm not sure who. It might be my headmistress from primary school...
  19. New Roots Manuva album - far better than the last, still not quite as good as Brand New Second Hand
  20. The revolution will not be televised - Gil Scott Heron
  21. Sebastien Tellier - Divine. Was the French entry for Eurovision - surprisingly good. Plus the guy inhaled helium to sing it live on stage and drove on in a golf cart - what's not to like?
