  1. That's strange, is it some running industry gag? I'd like to know the back story on that one...

I recon it's probably the same props supply company in each of these movies/shows and they have a standard prop for 'newspaper'.

You wouldn't want a real paper with dates and signifcant stories on it, plus there would be royalties to pay and it would be a pain in the but to knock up a whole page of text and photos each time from scratch.

  2. I said this in another thread but why arent man city buying absolutely a FEW top draw players (like torres) rather than a lot of very good players. Seems they would be better off spending 200 million on 4 players than on about a hundred players?

They have to walk before they can run.

If they finish top 4 this season expect the 50mill+ signings to start.

  3. Stan actually moves so fast it looks slow, because our minds have to slow down time and space in order to perceive him bombing about.

That is why he tires early, because he's actually everywhere at once. Have you ever tried that for 90 minutes?

    Ah, I see... Schrödinger's Petrov.

Quantum physics joke worked into a football forum. I have seen it all now. :D

  4. As I have more mass gravity is pulling harder on me?

So........objects with differing mass are effected differently by gravity? Would two objects with differing mass hit the ground at the differing times in a vacuum? And surely this contradicts earlier posts stating drag and terminal velocity as being the main factors in air?

    still confused.com

Your "weight" (the reading on the scales) is your mass multiplied by gravity. The more mass you have the more weight shows up on the scales, gravity acts the same on everything which is why the two objects fall at the same rate in a vacuum.

  5. How did he respect us? By trying to keep down the fact he wanted to leave?

According to the Times article Milner is angered by MON's claims he asked to leave.

Perhaps he changed his mind, or is that not allowed?

THen why havent Milner or his agent told MON or more importantly the fans.

Yes exactly, hes angry MON put it out in the open. If he has chaged his mind it would be very easy to say so and make MON look like a fool.

  6. Stewavfc, Michael Johnson is fine players until got many injury I was thought if villa can give him chance play football. And give us repay as laursen pay us keep faith on him when he got knee problem.

Your right about Richards he will very good England rb As he been rb under Sven England regin he I'm impress him in that role.

Collins when he attack ball look good position to attack I like see it again. That reason I think he potenial be best defensive midfield for avfc, I rather see collins in this roles that petrov, as I Alway think petrov better role in attack midfield.

Your not English are you? If you are then what. the. ****.

    He's deaf IIRC.

    How's that effect reading/writing/typing though?

He can't hear the grammer checker on MS Word.

  7. I think Blackpool are encouraging them. I think it would be kind of cool if it was one teams "thing". Just not so much our team. Barnet are known as the Bee's arn't they? They should give them out at their games.

I don't think you would actually need to ban them at VP, I can't see more than 10 people bothering to bring one, then they will be bored of it by the second home game.

  8. i dont understand how people think oh hes not £25mill its stupid. hes our player, its as if we should sell him on the cheap.. if we ask for 40million its up to us hes our player, if they dont like it the can do one. i dont care how much hes worth how much silva villa henry etc went for, we can ask as much as we want, hes under contract if he doesnt like it tough. if man city dont like it.. again tough titty really

    Yep.

Silva went for £25mill because Valencia need money to balance the books.

We don't, we can put a stupid price on him and if City don't want to pay it that's their problem, if they do pay it we get a stupid amount of money.

    Win win.

We are not going to sell for less because some people on the internet are board with it...

  9. Joe, I'd look if I thought I was going to fail.

I'd hope I wouldn't get into that position. I'd think I'd be ready by the time the exam fell into my hands. but if I wasn't, and I thought I was going to fail, then hand on heart I'd probably look at what questions were coming up.

Well that's the main problem. People are going to in these exams, needing certain grades to get into UNI, parents expectations, yourself wanting to achieve of course and then you go into exams and around exam time, it gets "panick time" from personal experience, you are revising everything, hoping the paper comes up with the questions you want. People setting up accomodation for Uni, now just needing the grades, it's borderline whether they get in, I don't think it's so suprising that most (in my opinion) would look at questions unless as you say, they are super confident and prepared.

Anyway, I am running a poll on this on the Student Room, currently 4-1 (to yes they would look) http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1331526

    Edit: 7-1.

I presume you also wouldn't mind if a few hundred people got to see the paper early by mistake, cheated and got better grades than you causing you to miss out on a uni place?

  10. Why has Gerrard got no blame for the goal? Ok Green made a terrible error but Gerrard was turned 3 or 4 times on the edge of the box by Dempsey before getting in his shot

Defending so players are having to take those sorts of shots from that far out is perfectly fine. The keeper should save them all day and look for the quick throw to counter attack up field.

  11. Could you imagine Heskey with a World Cup winners medal

It just aint going to happen is it.

    why not?

stephane guivarche got one for France in 98, and he was pants.

Not to mention that Blues muppet Dugarry who has both a World Cup and Euros winners medal...

  12. Nobody in the public sector earns money. They take money, they don't earn it.

Levi - what a frankly ridiculous and insulting thing to say.

So my sister - a Doctor - does not "earn" her money? My Daughter - a pharmacist - doesn't earn her money? my son-in-law - a teacher - doesn't earn his money etc etc

What about the police? what about the fire service? - these are all public sector jobs

None of them create wealth for society.

Any business making a profit creates wealth for society whether it be publicly owned or privately run.

  13. On the Bank Holiday front, try this one for size - we get a reminder email fairly often at Aber informing us that we don't recognise Bank Holidays and if you've got lectures etc on a Bank Holiday Monday, they're still on. Some poor bastards have exams on it today.

When you are a student every day is a bank holiday monday...

  14. Richard, the only real way we rectify the Debt is by creating useful products and exporting them to other Countries; like I've said, we need bigger diverse thinking long term about Industry in this Country. Simply cutting and chopping items won't make a huge difference to the Economy, we need to create something useful and effective.
Which is a lot easier said than done.
True, true. I supposed we could learn from other nations tho.

You mean by paying workers £5 a day to make the stuff like they do in China?

The reason we (and other western economies) cannot make things anymore is because we have to pay the workers a liveable wage which makes our products much more expensive and no one wants to buy them.

We concentrate on making niche things we have patents for like pharmaceuticals and jet engines and make up for the lack of manufacturing by offering things like banking and financial services which emerging economies cannot reliably provide (yet).
