  1. This thread is making me rage to be honest. Theres lots of 'bragging' on both sides of the table here but at the end of the day what does it matter what a club HAS achieved or what a club WILL achieve?

None of us lot have had one iota of imput into what goes on at our clubs success both current and past. Get the **** over yourselves. Unless you were part of the team or club at any point in history then you cannot claim anything. We're just supporters thick enough line the back pockets of these posh primadonnas and invest up £1000 (Season tickets, shirts etc) in a club that we basically get nothing back from except a seat to watch 22 men play football.

STOP THE BRAGGING - its like 'my dads bigger than your dad'... **** hell.

    I hate football fans.

    Yep, it is daft.

  2. Haha do you remember two seasons ago when Spurs were tearing it up in preseason under Ramos? Dos Santos got 5 assists or something against Leyton Orient? Glaston was being all cockney wideboy about how Ramos and Spurs were going places? Good times :D

And then two years later they broke into the top four? Good times.

    I think I missed that.

Anyway, you should have been on here that preseason. It was actually pretty hilarious how quickly Glaston disappeared off the radar once the season proper started.

  3. Tax rules are different in spain though, alot less than here, so kaka can be on far less than at city but in reality not that far off

I always thought that kaka looked at it and more or less said im not exactly poor so why be greedy? Wish more of them would

Yes, Spain have a special tax bracket for top earners where they only have to pay something like 20% tax rather than the 50% here. It was designed to attract top CEOs to the country to improve business but mostly it has just attracted top footballers to Madrid and Barcalona.

The current spanish government is debating repealing the tax break.

  4. If we needed the money we'd have sold him by now as MON both wants and needs new players in, easy peasy.

Exactly, we can't be desperate for money or we would have taken Man Citys offer and begun spending it.

We can afford to not sell him and still buy this window, MON always leaves it to August to buy players, Milner or not. The papers don't have a clue.

Also, Milner will not sulk if he doesn't get a move. There is no danger whatsoever with holding onto the player and refusing to budge on price.

  5. Its a shame these younger players wont be given more of a chance unless MON changes tact.

He likes his set 11 so the only chance they will have is the odd sub and its hard to make an impact there.

    Hope MON's changes his mind.

I'm with you on this one Jez.

He will play them loads in the Europa Cup. He was playing them two years ago in that comp and they were still in nappies back then...

  6. All we're doing is increasing the value of our assests and gradually increasing the quality of the team.

No in fact what we would be doing is constantly changing our style/ formation, bringing on young players and then selling them when they become our best player to a bigger more ambitious club. That is performing the role of a feeder club

    But we're not Wigan, Richard.

If we were, as you call it, a "feeder club" for the bigger clubs. Then surely we'd be gradually getting more and more money from the bigger clubs?

Eventually we could be in Tottenham's position. We could crack 4th and then the players would not want to leave for a bigger club.

Being in the top 4 wouldn't garentee anything. If Man U or Chelsea came in for Bale he would be off in a shot.

  7. The only clubs we are a feeder club for is the best clubs in the country and the richest. No-one else can afford our players and they wouldn't want to take a step down. That's not exactly a bad thing and using the term 'feeder club' for dramatic effect only serves to cause an argument over it's exact meaning.
Does the fact that we are feeding the top clubs in the country make us any less of a feeder club then Lex? I mean what is your definition ?

I would have thought that it would be better to be in the position of taking the best players from the clubs around you rather than losing them but hey ho each to his own I guess

Tell that to Man United and the Ronaldo transfer or Arsenal with Toure/Adabayor/Fabrigas, Liverpool with Masherano and Chelsea with Cole.

    It happens to every club.

  8. For those interested by the way, City are playing Club America on ESPN this Thursday night at 7.30 and all of the World Cup guys will be back, including Yaya and Silva, who are expected to start. After that, we've got Inter Milan and am thoroughly expecting us to get stuffed in that one.

Liverpool's season starts thursday night so I might tune in for that one instead. See what Woy has brought to the team.

I think you will beat Inter, the Italian teams are always way behind the Prem teams in terms of fitness becuase their season starts a couple of weeks later. I think Inter have lost to prem opposition for a few years in a row now at a similar stage during preseason.
