I don't think you can say MON has been reluctant to spend money though (Young £11m, NRC £8.5m, Davies £8m) what he has been reluctant to do is bring in large numbers of players. I agree this is frustrating due to the size of the squad but I don't think people can say he has been reluctant to spend.

I know what your saying and a large part of my agrees. I guess in part it is that while I have never particularly liked MON as an individual I have always thought he was a good manager and still do. I also think of him as being above average in terms of intellegance for a football manager so I find it very hard to accept he would sit on the cash. Don't get me wrong I'm not doubting Randy, far from it. I guess I fall somewhere inbetween the two camps. I believe there is plenty of money, I believe MON is a little to cautious with it but I don't believe that the well is as bottomless as some so to a degree MON's caution is though frustrating perhaps understanding. (apologies if I'm not fully or clearly explaining this - its a hard feeling to put into words in a consise form)

I do think if we had managed to get into Europe for next season we would have seen some more ambitious arrivals than we perhaps will. I think the lure of European football shouldn't be under estimated.

Just because I say I can't understand why MON would sit on the cash doesn't mean I don't think he is. I voted for the first of the two answers by the way.

P.S - I'm not sure the poll is asking the right question. We have shown we can compete for expensive players NRC and Ashley Young. The real question is can we afford to build a squad full of these sort of players and or add a couple from the next bracket up.

I can't make my mind up on this one I really can't. I have no reason to say we haven't, in fact everything I read from MON, Randy and The General make me believe this isn't the case. But I just find it so hard to believe that MON is sitting on a pot of gold he is refusing to spend.
