  1. Big John has said in Norwegian media that he was surprised and sad to see him go, if that helps :winkold:
  2. Looking at the bookies I'm all.....don't want.....don't want......don't want..... I'd rather just stick with MacDonald and see what he can do, or go for someone younger, up and coming (like Grayson) who can come here and build his own team, get our own Moyes so to speak.
  3. If we want a good, young, up and coming, young striker with great potential and bags of ability, cheap and on low wages we should go for Norwegian Mohammed Abdellaoue, current top scorer in the Norwegian league. Starts for Norway tonight. Available for £1.5 mill. Blackburn will be there along with other clubs and they will most likely bid for him in the morning.
  4. Don't want Klinsmann as he hasn't really done anything. AFAIC it was Jogi Löw who masterminded Germany's success in 2006.
  5. Make or break time for Lerner. At present I happen to think he's f*cked up big time with this one. There can only be one man deciding the ins and outs at a club when it comes to playing material, and that shouldn't be the owner. He can make amends though by appointing someone truly excellent, however I don't think he has the knowhow and I don't think he's willing to spend the cash needed to do so. On the verge of losing faith, but I'll give him a chance to pull something extraordinary out of the hat. Jol would be my favourite too. (Or Löw as someone said, but I don't think that's very likely). That said, I have a feeling we'll end up with someone shit like Curbishley.
  6. For me. NRC (MOTM), Albrighton, Luke, Beye, Clark, Dunne - very good Petrov, Ashley, Carew, Warnock - good Friedel, Delfouneso, Sidwell, Downing - ok Heskey - not quite up to it today, I'm afraid Rest of them not on long enough to make an impression
  7. No hoofing though. Actually I though we did fine tonight. Tried to keep it on the deck, play it through the middle, and down the wings, all in all a positive run out.
  8. Actually he had a good first half, but has been poor second I'll give you that.
  9. That's it. Reo-Coker on the back of my shirt this year. How fun would it be if he tops it with a goal tonight.
  10. Fine display by Petrov tonight as well.
  11. Excellent by NRC again. Shows tonight why I like him so much.
  12. Grow up. Nobody question him on the pitch, just off it. How stupid are you to even pretend others said otherwise? Not going to post the facts ebcause that is wrong on the person who told me, but his attitude OFF the pitch is a disgrace. get over it. Yeah and last time I remembered, games are played and won on the pitch. Keeping troublemakers at the club is always gonna be a risky business, but can be defended as long as the player is truly excellent and give us that little extra in terms of quality. Luke Young is good, but not exceptional and can be sacrificed for the benfit of team spirit imo. Beye is easily as good if given a proper run in the team.
  13. Reo-Coker with a very good through ball :!:
  14. We've actually got two very good right backs in our squad, and I'm not including Lichaj in that.
  15. Young Marc is making that spot his tonight I reckon. At least for the opener against West Ham.
  16. I like this Villa side. Keep it up lads.
  17. And players inbound obviously. Transfer window should open August 1st to save us the agony imo :winkold:
  18. VALENCIA: Cesar, Alexis, Maduro, Mathieu, Albelda, Feghouli, Costa, Fernandes, Aduriz, Isco, Vicente.
  19. What happened to Warnock, wasn't he just in the starting lineup?
  20. TEAM: VILLA: Friedel; Beye, Dunne, Clark, Warnock; Albrighton, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Downing; A Young, Carew. Subs: Guzan, Heskey, L Young, Lichaj, Weimann, Lowry, Sidwell, Salifou, Delfouneso. Almost identical to my preferred team tonight, cool. Only Beye in for Lichaj.
  21. Hoping for: --------------Friedel------------ Lichaj--Dunne--Clark--Warnock ------------NRC-Petrov--------- Albrighton---Young---Downing --------------Carew------------- Lichaj/Clark - want to see how good they are on "this" level I expect Gabby to play instead of or alongside Carew though.
  22. The only player I'd be willing to take a gamble on from the Norwegian league at the moment would be the current top scorer Mohammed Abdellaoue from Vålerenga. Not nearly the finished product yet, but the kind of player that no doubt would raise his game when given the opportunity to train and play with better players. Bags of potential, natural goal scorer, not afraid to take a shot (imagine having one of those, eh), not unlike Solskjær back in the day, could tourn out to be a bargain for anyone willing to take a chance on him. Hattrick today with plenty of scouts in the stands and if reports are to be believed we have hade people following Vålerenga for a while too (but possibly not to look at Abdellaoue).
