  1. I thought Carew played quite well today myself, just didn't score, that's all. (I know a striker is supposed to score, btw) Obviously didn't get the goal he shuld have, that said he should have had 2 penalties.
  2. Oh, and another thing. Is it too late to add a couple of million to Milner's price?
  3. Congratulations on today's result, General. Well done to everyone! Give K-Mac the job if he wants it Seriously though please no manager who plays boring (meaning negative) football. You can see the reaction from the fans today when they're presented with excellent, positive, attacking football (and no laying back defending on 1-0). Only watching on TV, but you could sense the place was buzzing. I know we'll be presented with better opponents, but I have a good feeling about this.
  4. Just amazing. Wonderful start to the season, 3 points in the bank, and an excellent performance to go with that. 10's all around. Petrov MOTM. Keep it up Stan. Impressed with Clark and Albrighton. The future does look bright. Has to be said though. It was only West Ham and they were poor. But hey ho, you can only beat what's put infront of you.
  5. JIMMY MILNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU. (I'm fickle) And I have Albrighton in my Fantasy team!!
  6. Feck me, where did the rain come from?
  7. Not taking anyhing away from today's performance of course. Downing close.
  8. Seems people have already forgot the 07-08 season. Lots of excellent stuff back then as well.
  9. Pablo Barrera coming on. Very good player, hope we're aware of him.
  10. You know we have done well when the only negative is the keeper shirt
  11. Good player. We should put in a cheeky bid before the window closes.
  12. Friedel and Clark, well done!!
  13. Stilyan Petrov, what a goal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Last one should have been a corner though.
  15. You being ironic now? Sounds really loud to me on my stream. No, I asked because the sound isn't coming through in the broadcast I'm watching. Just periodically. But I suspect they have cut some of the crowd sound at my end. The Villa Park faithful are loud and clear today mate, loud and clear.
  16. He is being booed. No he isn't, you watching a different match? Albrighton has also assisted with the goal. Has he shagged your mrs? what you got against him? be fu**ing positive, go on try it...... There defiitely was some booing (not much) at the start of the game, but it seems to have stopped now. Looking at it in perfect HD with great sound in an otherwise silent room, and there was booing. :winkold: :winkold:
  17. Should have been a pen for Carew.
  18. Carew should have done better.
  19. Stephen Ireland? There's booing. Don't like that.
  20. I think it's the right team. Milner's a better player than NRC and Albrighton's a winger. If NRC was to play it should have been instead of Downing with Ashley on the left and NRC in the middle, but considering we're at home and need to come at them and attack I think it's correct to have Downing in the side. NRC will still play a role for us this season imo.
  21. Playing devil's advocate for a bit this could also be seen from alternative viewpoints of course. 1) If Randy was so discontent with him (to the point where he didn't even trust his financial judgement anymore), then why keep him as manager of this great club, why didn't he just sack him earlier in the summer? At best a naive approach keeping a manager he didn't agree with hoping he'd fix the situation he'd put us in, at worst some serious lack of tough decision making. 2) MON could have left us even deeper in the shit by waiting to Sept 1st to leave, after he'd seen out the remainder of the transfer window. By leaving when he did, he left us with enough time to get both a new manager AND a couple of new players, if Randy really wants to. MON had his faults, he most definitely did, but I just don't get the way he is now suddenly blamed for everything from what's wrong at the club to global warming. The hatred shown towards him has really gained momentum since the general's comments and is now at a level of truly and utterly ridiculousness. Yet most people seem to agree that he's actually built a very decent squad in his time here. Me, I'm looking forward to the new season and the hopefully bright future. Randy and the general has said we'll compete and I'll take their word for it. I think we're in for another good season and several good seasons after that.
  22. Care to elaborate? Sources? Care to elaborate? Sources? Personally, I think I've had enough "sources" , especially from "inside Villa Park" to last me a lifetime over the past week. Please, no more "sources"! On BOF's article, it's not really surprising to me that the players are keeping their heads down. The manager just buggered off without a word to them and the Board immediately launched a war of words against him, claiming petulance and insubordination. If that happened in your work place, would you be stepping up to mouth off about how great a manager he he was? I suspect he was growing distant from the players over the last few months anyway as he visibly lost heart for the job. The other side of how few have expressed regret is how few have expressed delight, as Mat Kendrick pointed out recently in his Mail blog. It's more like a sort of "OK, what's next?" reaction. The only thing that disappointed me about your otherwise excellent article, BOF, was that you repeated the nonsense from the Daily Mirror about texting images of champagne bottles, another bit of "information" from a "source", I suspect! John Carew said no-one texted him a champagne bottle, so if the alleged texters didn't have the bottle (excuse pun) to include a great Villa icon in this celebration, it can't have been that widespread. Good post
  23. they will say one thing to the media, if it suits them. OK, so if they say they're glad to get rid, they're glad to get rid... If they say nothing, they're glad to get rid... And if they say they're sad to see him go, they're glad to get rid... That how it works?
