  1. I'm not party to the figures that will have been plugged into the formulas and calculations regarding GG's cost (salary) and benefit (through playing or sale) to the club so, despite me yet to be convinced of GG's advantage for our club, I'm not going to get fussed about why the club has chosen to do what that have.

Alternatively, I could post two variations in anticipation of a smug hindsight follow-up:

Stupid decision - he hasn't improved as a player and we're stuck with him / he's left on a free

Bruce got the best out of him and we eventually sold him for £3.5m - good job he didn't leave on a free.

My mate's a bit like that. To be fair though, his stories are never made up, just borrowed. He has a multitude of stories of things that happened to him. All are very funny but all he is doing is appropriating stories he's been told and inserting himself as the protagonist. He told me a great one about being caught speeding in Mozambique a few weeks ago. I waited until he'd completed the (embellished) story before pointing out that it was actually me that was done for speeding in Africa but that I very much appreciated the extra touches he'd added to the story.

You missed out his response! Was it embarrassed mumbling or did he try to BS his way out of it?

    Just signed a new deal.

Not sure what to make of that.

If we're pushing for promotion I can't see him having any game time if we succeed. It's not like he's tearing up the championship is it?

I'm sure the club will have weighed up the balance between his wages verses his benefit to the squad and/or future sale value. Even though some may not rate GG, I think most would be annoyed if we didn't get a fee for him.

The opposite. I think the ice saved him as he would have been wiped up by the car. I just don't think he was looking

I assume he didn't see the car because he was foolishly crossing the road between two vehicles (the bus and whatever vehicle, possibly another bus, was filming). Looking at the speed the car was going, the lad could owe his life to slipping on the ice!

Best part about the working rule agreement, I can't work between Christmas and new year, it's the claw, although i did have one year where I had to get someone in to do something "I want triple time" "well I'm actually not allowed to pay you anything..."

I've just had a very annoying experience with a restaurant.

I phoned to book a table, and they wanted to know what day and time, and for how many people.  Naturally I wouldn't tell them, for fear of undermining my negotiating strategy.  They flat out refused to accept the booking.  Bastards.

When you know the restaurant isn't that busy and is no longer as good as previously thought, an approximation should suffice. You shouldn't be expected to state an exact time you'll be eating each course and what each course will be, especially as the restaurant has refused to let you know what is on the menu - since hearing you would like to look at other restaurants. It's time for you to enjoy adding other restaurants to your gastronomic experience. :)

Wrong un he, xia's right hand man, he's on Twitter a fair bit, he does a lot more responding to stupid questions

Wrong un he?! His parents must have loved 'off topic'! :D

In any case, when referring to the guy 'going mad', I think ender4 was referring to the white guy.

My knowledge on this topic is now completely exhausted :P

One of them is incredibly rare and it was last the solstice about 300 years ago, but I can't remember if it was the 20th or the 23rd.

As the 23rd is further away from the 21st than the 20th is, it was probably the 23rd. 21st > 22nd > 20th > 23rd. All more likely than the 12th!

It's not the same every year so it's mostly luck that what you were taught 40 years ago has been correct this year, it can't be between the 20th and the 23rd, it is most commonly the 21st though, with the 22nd just behind.

I'm glad I was taught the most common shortest day! I'd be interested to see what proportion of shortest days fall on the 22nd and 20th. I imagine the shortest day falling on the 23rd is pretty rare. I also wonder if those dates are specific to the UK or apply to anywhere in the northern hemisphere.

    That isn't the point.

We're specifically talking about Wales here. What non-economic reasons could a Welsh person, living in a country that benefits to £70 a person from the EU, have for voting leave?

List some, please. I'm genuinely interested.

You'd have to ask a Welsh person who voted leave. If you asked a few hundred, you would get a picture. I suspect you'd disagree with the majority of them but the opinions, and the result would be the same.

  11. There's definitely non-economic reasons why people voted to leave the EU. Opinions differ amongst voters of the same side so it's not surprising some 'leavers' don't agree with or understand some of the reasons why the majority voted to leave. I suspect the frustration and disbelief would be as strong if the vote had gone the other way.

The great thing about living where I do, is we have a fantastic butchers in the town, that does amazing pies. To be classed as having had a good buffet, any event in the town has to have a selection of Taylor's pies.

    No.

I perceive a leave vote from a population with net positives ffrom the EU, voting to leave for "non-economic reasons" (ie taking back control or immigration), as stupid.

Just 52.5% of the Welsh then!

Seriously though, of all the leave voters I have spoken to, very few of them were convinced they would be economically better off outside the EU. Most think the long term economic outlook will be similar, a few think it may be worse. That some remain voters may believe lowering the priority of economic success below other factors is wrong, amounts simply to a difference of opinion.
