Ido realize it wasnt called K2 then by the way its just where i was

There wasn't a K2 in the Holte back then. After the Holte had been fenced down the middle (presumably for crowd number/control), the left side (looking at the terrace from the pitch) was L block and the right side was K block. Happy days.:flag:

I wouldn't worry too much, according to a recent article in the Times, Birmingham has cheap housing, scores very high in the quality of life ratings and your cockneys are moving to Brum in droves.

Unfortunately, I think it will take more than an occasional article in the paper to remind everyone that Birmingham is, by some distance, the UK's second city. This morning's half marathon was a small but easy opportunity to show everyone that Birmingham isn't as drab as perceived. It was looking decent until that finish.

  4. The location of finish line for the 'Great Birmingham' half marathon. After showcasing south Brum's leafy suburbs via the Pershore Road, Bournville, Cannon Hill park and Edgbaston, the final focal point for UK viewers watching on TV was the grey Travelodge on Broad Street. I'm sure they could have modified part of the course to finish the race at Centenary Square, but no, the Council decided on the crappy Travelodge. Even the slightly better looking Novotel, immediately opposite, was masked by grey portacabins. Doh!

Regarding his appointment, I dont care whether he managed the Blues but I will always feel slightly annoyed that his late goals against Shef Wednesday prob cost us the title back in 92/3

Shouldn't the blame be directed at the dodgy referee who gave significantly more added time than the second half warranted, rather than blaming a player who did part of his job and scored for his own team, late in the added time? Does anyone think Bruce should have refused to play in those final added minutes?

    Isn't that the Villa standard?

We get a manger who most of us can say " Well at least he's not (insert previous manager name).

    And then repeat...

In fairness, I suspect the same for the majority of football clubs.

To be honest, there is never going to be a unanimously accepted managerial appointment is there? There will always be people who have different ideas of what the club needs and who the next incumbent is. That's just you know...people innit. I've certainly no issue with people being hugely sceptical of Bruce, I was exactly the same with Sherwood and RDM but at the same time, I was willing to give them a chance because football being football, occasionally a manager just fits a club like a glove and it all comes together. We can but hope eh?

As for Bruce? yeah, I think he'll do OK. I think he'll be unspectacular, get us reasonably well organised and maybe start playing something resembling a balanced team (not 'ALL THE STRIKERS!!!'). I'm certainly nowhere near as nervous about his appointment as some of his predecessors.

We need someone to drag the team in the right direction again. Hopefully he can be the one to do it.

I think that's fair enough and not too dissimilar from my current view.

But only if you have the fastest car and the best computer in it.

Much like comparing different managers abilities whilst they are at different clubs with different assets to work with, it is difficult. My point remains that I'm willing to support someone with a proven track record, whether I like them or not.

So who will be the first to post something about what we can expect from Bruce when it comes to actual approach, tactics, formations, player preferences, what we can expect from him considering our current squad and so on.

You know, the things that actually matters...

Anyone with actual insight more then what can be gained from Wikipedia?

I think I'll just wait and see, starting, but by no means finishing, on Saturday ( evening  ).

  10. I don't know Steve Bruce well enough to justify liking or disliking him, but even if I did dislike him, I wouldn't use it as an excuse for not wanting him to be our manager. For example, I don't particularly like Lewis Hamilton because of his prima donna and sometimes child like behaviour, yet I still recognise his track record for improving teams results and I'd still back him driving for my team.

I think that in world football there are dozens of possibilities that would have been better than Bruce (in my opinion). Clearly there is no guarantee that any manager will win promotion

Without listing them and knowing for certain they were genuinely available, it is pointless in guessing (because that's all it could be - guessing), whether those that were possibly available would be any better than or worse than Bruce. In the meantime we could be more focused in wishing our new manager the very best success at our beloved club.

I've still yet to learn of any benefit to our club in not supporting our new manager.

In his first press conference I fully expect for Bruce to apologise for those two headers against Sheffield Wednesday and to admit that the game should have long been finished by the time he scored the second.

Never thought to blame a player for scoring for his own team in the time allowed by the game officials.  I've always held that particular result against the referee and his dodgy 'play until you score' minutes.

What does getting behind the manager even mean. I'll continue to cheer for the team, I won't boo or jeer Bruce, but I will continue to bleieve the we could have made a much more forward-looking appointment

What if your 'more forward looking appointment' either wasn't available or turned out not to have the ability to manage our team to promotion?
