    Yeah Stokes is linked with a loan move to Charlton today, sure Arsenal would be willing to let us have him until the end of the season but whether we should be developing other teams young strikers when we've got our own to bring through is debatable. We would get a decent young striker for a few months, but no chance of signing him permanently and he wouldn't have all that much impact, makes me think its not worthwhile really. For someone like Charlton fighting relegation needing a quick fix it is, I don't think we need quite such short term options though.

    This has been talked about a lot. It's basically been said it probably won't be one of the biggest names (nike/adidas) but it will be a recognised name in a deal that suits the club one hell of a lot better than the current deal does. And that the kit will be better than the current one. The phrase "you won't be disappointed" comes out a lot, I don't think we can ask for anymore. Personally I'm not bothered who makes the kit so long as its a good deal for the club and it looks good. Companies should be fighting to get a deal with us, not the other way around.

    Most clubs need money to sign new players, they get this by selling players, for once we actually have the money without the need to sell.

    Nobody wants the players we don't want, we won't sell our first team players as we have no need to, that's the situation I imagine. Of the players who could get a starting place only Baros would realistically be sold I'd have thought. We don't really need to sell, we need numbers. Djemba-Djemba to Lille (a club still in the champions league...) was the only one mentioned in the Guardian.

    I've heard of O'Connor but can't place him, Burnley? Heard of Eardley as well but no idea who he plays for, never heard of Kalzer. Anyone care to shed any light? Guardian linked us with Greg Halford from Colchester yesterday for £1.5m, but then linked Wigan to him for £2.5m.

    And to go back to an old rumour, I don't know if I imagined it but I think I read Bardsley is joining Sunderland.

    I think SWP is starting to realise its not all about the money, money is a big motivator no doubt, but the difference in the wages he'd be earning might be made up by playing each week, getting the chance of international football and building up your reputation again.

And what about Berbatov or Vidic?Not every East European player is a flop!Although I don't think he is good enough:) Berbatov who was a massive hit in the Bundesliga? Not quite the same. Can't think of many who've come straight from Eastern European football to the premiership and been a success. I wouldn't say Savo was a flop, he was alright, £3.5m for him compared to £11m for Rebrov is a bargain really (though I know there was about 5 years between them).

    We should be able to attract bigger crowds with prices that remain sensible rather than £50 a ticket or whatever they try and charge. Probably get similar gate receipts (depending on if they build a bigger stadium) but our "active" fan base should be at least on a par with theirs. By active I mean fans that actually contribute something to the club (no I'm not turning this into an "I'm a better fan than you" argument), so actually give the club something over the season through buying a ticket, or a shirt, or whatever.

    Figo would be on about £80k a week I imagine, slightly over-budget no matter how much money people think we have, he's going there for an easy and very lucrative pay day. Also David Dunn??? Kept fit??? When was the last time he had a run of games in the first team? I'm sure someone told me the other day he'd been paid £1250 for every minute he'd played for Birmingham in his career. I used to think he was ok, but now he's an injury prone player (and I use the term lightly) who hasn't played well at the top level for about 3 years. So no thanks. I'd be amazed if they picked up £2m for him.

    Yeah massively, having read 4-4-2 this month it says he can hardly even travel to away games in his own country as he gets really bad panic attacks, can't see him moving to Europe any time soon, or if he does, will take him a long time to settle.

    If Charlton think Reid, Traore and Faye are worth £7m between them its fair to say they reckon Bent is worth one hell of a lot more than £5m. Whether he is or not I don't know, but I imagine they'd be looking around £8-10m.

    Well the Guardian has a big article based on a thread on this site today, so I reckon its only fair we all go out and buy it.

    In time for what? But yeah it was fantastic, good to see Villa getting some positive coverage in the press as well, I know they almost certainly didn't want the publicity, but they got it, albeit on a small scale, every little helps as they say.
