Finished 0-3 to City.

Losing 0-2 so far to Man City after 60 minutes and zero shots on target.
Clearly still a lot of work to do with this squad if we’re going to be competitive in this league.

Not really an upgrade on Steer or Kalinic as backup gks?

Well, we go again and let’s put the farce of Old Trafford firmly behind us. The two new signings in this week will give everyone a lift and the crowd going. Strangely I can see us making it quite a hostile atmosphere. United we’re poor on Monday but we need to start being more ruthless and taking our chances.
Fitness and Covid permitting, I’d start Coutinho and Digne. It will make our game more unpredictable, hopefully making it more difficult for United. I know our record against them is awful but I honestly think we’ll be up for this and take the win. 3-1 or 2-1 win.
Martinez
Cash Konsa Mings Digne
Sanson Luiz Ramsey
Buendia Coutinho
Watkins
Subs: Steer, Hause, Kessler-Hayden, Targett, Iroegbunam, Carney, Young, Philogene-Bidace, Ings

It’s curry week on the Food Network channel and some former Aston Villa players have popped in to cook us some of their favourite dishes, but with a twist. We have on the menu tonight……..
Moustapha Saagaloo, Chicken Guzan, Lamb Bouma, Jores Pakora
More former players to come next week with more exciting dishes.

SJM gets replaced by Sanson.
McTominay probably replaced by Magic.
I think we have lost less than them??
I dunno, wizardry and witchcraft scares the hell out of me!- 1

Greatly unappreciated player in recent seasons. He has provided us with some very important goals during his time us, most notably a goal that got us promoted back to the Premier League. I will be forever grateful for that.
£15m and what is likely to be a profit for a player that is now fourth or fifth choice, is pretty damn decent. He isn’t good enough or consistent enough for where we want to be, but I wish him well. Thanks for the memories Anwar

Starting for Egypt this afternoon. Hopefully the game time will do him the world of good.
-
Really looking forward to seeing him link up with Coutinho.
Buendia seems to get annoyed easily when some of ours players aren’t on his wavelength or when they don’t react as quickly as him. I think Coutinho and him will love playing together behind either Watkins or Ings.

McGinn will be a big loss to us make no mistake.
What we need to do is make Villa Park as hostile and electric as possible, like it was when we beat Everton on our return to the Premier League.
Can’t see Coutinho starting but a decent cameo from the bench should spice things up a bit.

Cheltenham is a nice place/area and not far from his home either. Sensible move and hopefully works out well for him.

Blues beating Arsenal 2-0 so far this afternoon. Would be a major shock if they get the win.
It did indeed finish 2-0 to Blues. Take nothing away from them but seems Arsenal had some Covid cases as they could only name five subs. Saving grace today was that Leicester lost again.
As long as we don’t lose to Blues and Leicester during the second half of the season then we should be ok.

Just noticed Watford’s next three fixtures (after one had been rearranged from December) -
Newcastle (a) 15th Jan
Burnley (a) 18th Jan
Norwich (h) 21st Jan
The ideal for me would be Watford beat Newcastle, lose to Burnley and then beat Norwich. That would surely put Newcastle in a right dire mess?

Debut at Villa park under the floodlights on a Saturday evening against Man Utd… going to be an insane atmosphere.
I hadn’t even thought about it being an evening game and on TV. As you say, the atmosphere will be electric.I suppose the question now is will he be fit enough to start the game?

Good day for classic films on ITV4 today, especially if you like Paul Newman, Robert Redford and Steve McQueen:
11:00 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
13:20 The Sting
15:55 The Towering Inferno
If you’re a big kid like me still, Film4 are showing: WarGames and The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.
