Injuries can clear up and some new signings incoming next week could really boost their chances.

Based on nothing at all, I wonder if Gerrard will be interested in taking Curtis Jones either on loan or permanent transfer?

Highly rated youngster but just can’t get enough games with Liverpool. I presume Gerrard will know him quite well.

It’s the only way they’re going to attract players at present. Massive contracts but you can bet every single one will have a relegation clause.  Can’t blame someone wanting a huge last contract I suppose.

I don’t know how true that is, but it would be very interesting if Grealish wanted to leave at the end of the season. I don’t know Jack and if it’s purely money that floats his boat then he’ll stay, but I could potentially see part of him wanting to come back and play for Villa sooner rather than later. 

If there is a deal to be done, I wonder if we’d be interested? 

Humble pie with Purslow? Would Gerrard take him?  I’m not sure.

Personally, I think we as a club are done with Jack for now and I can’t see there being a deal to be done next summer.

We’re surely going to look at our defensive options in January and next summer.

Guilbert, Tuanzebe, Hause and possibly Young won’t be with us next season.

A specialist “no 6” midfielder is also a must but has been for two years now.

I’d be happy with that. As you say, Bert to challenge Buendia from now. Chuk, Trez and El Ghazi to challenge for the other spot.

Flawed footballer, similar to Gazza. Genius and match winner one minute but complete liability the next.

Tough game against Man Utd this evening. Should Newcastle lose this one they’ll have one less point than Burnley but will have played four more games.

Games against Everton, Southampton, Watford and Leeds after tonight, which will probably define the remainder of their season. 

Gutted.

First half, we held our own and played some lovely stuff. Final third decision making though was very poor at times. Cash brain fart meant we didn’t go in winning at half-time.

Second half, poor but Lukaku made the difference. Mings seemed scared every time Lukaku went near the ball.

Ings/Watkins on the pitch together, just no.

Sanson a positive.

4 minutes. We can still win this. 

It’s a real shame because Lukaku has made the difference here.  If he wasn’t fit today, I honestly don’t think we lose the game.

I would put Chuk and Bertie either side of Watkins now.

Chuk on now and perhaps then Bertie and Trez for the last 20 minutes.

I think most of us agree that it’s either Watkins or Ings through the middle and not both on the pitch at the same time. 

A 20 minute Bertie cameo against his former club incoming.

He’ll fall over the ball a couple of times, play stray passes continuously but then dribble past two players and smash it in the goal from 25 yards to get us the winner! That’s our boy

We’re playing some lovely stuff at times and really holding our own. Just need to be more clinical in the final third.
