Just found my phone. Thoughts on that half: Villa typical self sabotage job. We were great on the counter early doors, well in control, then we let them back into the game. Furious with Tyrone. What an idiot. Will probably cost us the game. Why take off Traore when he’s terrified their defence and El ghazi has done nowt. Baffling to me. Expect a battering second half.

The other obvious candidate was Collymore. What a player he would have been if he’d given his head a wobble.

I’m pretty excited about next summer. Assuming we do reasonably well in the league, and it looks at the moment like we will, we’ll be more of a draw for some top talent. As always keeping Jack will be important, but we’ve been making steady progress and as long as we can get Gareth to include him in the England squad, I don’t see why he’d want to go anywhere.

Just wanted to put a question to you all to pass the time. Which villa players have been nearly-men....they had the tools and the talent to be exceptional, or to kick on, but for whatever reason...time, circumstances, injury, whatever, never saw their villa career take off. I’ll start you off with Luc Nilis. What a signing he could have been..could have taken us to the next level, a real marquee player. Scored an absolute worldie, then got a career ending injury. Such a tragedy.

I for one can’t wait until he’s back. I can’t ever remember wanting a player to come back and silence doubters as much as Wes. Maybe Savo back in the day.

I would look at Man U players. I think Ole looks a little out of his depth when it comes to man management. The culture there looks poor. With a proper manager, I think we could forge some good squad players. Yes for Williams for me.

I’ll admit, I like Alli, and what’s more I think DS could get a tune out of him, but as someone above said he would be putting one of our better players on the bench. The only reason I would go for him would be if we are certain that we couldn’t get Barkley on a permanent when his loan ends. I think we’re desperate for quality options from the bench, so i’d perhaps go for younger players who have significant potential to improve- particularly ones with pace.

Wolves on the other hand have been the model of consistency....their fans were dicks both before and after Nuno arrived.
