  1. Not going to jump to conclusions, but I've read through it and noticed the following;

    - I don't know who wrote it, but it's not brilliantly typed up, there are a few mistakes you'd not expect from a proof read piece.

    - the subject matter is very emotive and you'd hope it's not true, because the business practices taken are really poor (and American "firing without notice" etc).

    - the crest stuff sounds plausible.  The tie photo thing with the "new new" badge should be easily proven as there will be photos somewhere.

    - it comes as no surprise that the FAB is undermined, I think most clubs engage with fans begrudgingly.

But yea, interesting to see what the club comes out with.  The high risk stuff is employing Chris Heck and him onboarding a bunch of pals and dishing out contracts to companies he's been involved with.  That's all going to be fun if we can prove it (law wise).

I’m going to ask a stupid question.

I’m following a basic training plan I found online. It seems to be working well for me, but it’s not very good at explaining some of the runs.

    So...what does ‘7 miles with 6 x 2 minute intervals’ actually mean?

Within the 6 miles, you can have 6 lots of 2 mins not running?

Not the clearest of language is it?

  3. At the end of the day, we lack a couple of key things;

    - we often have to create numerous chances to score

    - we play in a way which means teams are now happy to sit back, watch us create numerous chances knowing we don't score a high % of them, but know they'll get 4/5/6 decent chances on the counter.  The better the team we play, the more likely they'll score from those counters (man united, Chelsea and Newcastle are dangerous on counters, and look what's happened).

    - we appear to only have the one way to play, which is the most concerning thing to me.  It doesn't feel as though we're mixing it up against different opponents.  It's a good way to play (dominating the ball), but we can and do get egg on our faces on occasions.

    - I absolutely hate Man United, they've been a laughing stock all season, won about 9 games when they were absolutely shocking and still beat us home and away (also we're the first top 9 team Ten Slag has beaten.. another record).

    - I'm still overjoyed at the current season so far, and would have given anything for it.  I just hope the players can pick themselves up and get some points on the board, because they deserve some kind of Europe next year.

  4. I'm not usually bothered if we lose, but the 3-2 game on boxing day made me absolutely furious.

Which was a shame because it was my wife's birthday and I beat the shit out of her.. bloody United.

We seem to raise our game when completely necessary, so I'll go a definite 3-0 loss.

  5. Whenever Moreno or Cash got the ball, they seemed to have a 4 on 2, and we didn't have a pass on into midfield.

It's like midfield were absolutely smothered and we didn't know how to deal with that.

We also struggled to get any passes from CB into midfield and we didn't have any options (or much pace) to go long.

They did a number on us and deserved it.

What did they do talk about bad luck!

    What did they do?

    - One of them sustained a knee injury against Oxford

    - Another injured his shoulder in the same fixture

    - Tom McIntyre had his red card rescinded, but fractured his ankle.

Jesus man, do you not read?!  It says right there.. 😒

  7. My companies bonus scheme seems relatively simple.

It's up to 14% of your salary, split 2 ways between group and your set objectives (7% obviously).

We're set 5-6 objectives per year.  I had 5 as I started in July and completed 4 out of that 5.  The group (from heresay) has performed well, so I reckon I'll get 10-12% bonus next month.

I've also said I'd split my bonus 50-50 with my pension, so I don't get buzzed too much by tax..  I think that feels fairly sensible.. I dunno, any thoughts?

Mentioned it before in the film thread, but sod it, as it’s being discussed here - Jason and the Argonauts, love the film, it has real nostalgic value for me.

It’s only relatively recently that I realised that the initial villain, the guy at the start who sends Jason off on his voyage…literally nothing happens to him. There’s no comeuppance or anything. The film just forgets him and replaces him with the guy who has the fleece.

Maybe that’s actually better and it should be a little messy and unfinished. It kinda feels like if it was made now, they’d have to tie it back to the start of the film somehow.

He did get his comeuppance in Jason and the Argonauts 2:  The guy who sent Jason off on his voyage in: Jason and the Argonauts.

You must have missed this 2021 masterpiece, featuring the same actors.

Exactly this. I lived in the US as well and it’s crippling how socially awkward and unwilling to be free we are brought up to be. But yeah if you’re not bugging yourself up then it’s taken at face value that you must be shit.

Anyway on Emi, I’m going to go as far as to say he’s the best footballer ever to play for us. He’s won the World Cup, he’s won every best goalkeeper in the world award, he’s worth double digits of points every season, he hardly ever cocks up. Whenever he’s one on one or there is a penalty, any other keeper (apart from Ederson) I’d favour the striker but not Emi. You just know that leg is going to fly out of nowhere and stop it. He increases the profile of our club, he’s a calming presence in defence, he seems to love the Villa, we love him. He’s a born winner and champion and legend.

I agree with this.  When he leaves he'll be held in the same esteem as McGrath.  He's so important to everything we do.  He has the players trust and he constantly backs himself up with saves no other keeper makes.  How he ended up at Villa, I'll never know.

  10. Matt Cash is fine.

Yea he's a bit frustrating with how safe he generally plays, but even if he passes square or backwards, at least he's not giving the ball away.  I understand it's annoying when moves seem to break down because of him, but there are lots of examples of that being the case with the rest of the team.

I'd argue we waste more time with the ball at Emi Martinez's feet, waiting for a low block team to press him, than Matt Cash does passing the way he does.

  11. He was absolutely brilliant last night and Youri should have played him in for what would have been a relatively simple finish from 15 yards.

That said, was noone else really **** off that he didn't take his chipped shot against the post (that mcginn finished) AROUND the keeper?

The keeper was 15 yards off his line and Ollie should have just had a touch and finish.

Very critical I know, but that's the kind of thing that gets you 20 goals 😎

  12. It's his passing through the defensive lines which hurt teams.  He could be our KDB, albeit without quite as much mobility.  But the way he can hit a ball and know the weight of pass required is his skill set. Also full of little flicks around corners and nutmegs as we saw last night.

If we use him correctly, he's an extremely good asset for us.

I'm amazed they haven't caught this scumbag who attacked the woman and kids with acid. Sounds like the kids are not as bad as first thought thank God.

He must be in agony and easily identifiable with the wounds to his own face.   I'm wondering if he's topped himself somewhere.

This acid attack thing is just evil. It's meant to not just cause immense physical pain but to actually destroy you psychologically. It's a truly evil and very act.

A great selection for the game "do you know what the definition of "slack" is?".

Not quite as bad as slicing your nut sack on a razor blade and being put in a vat of lemonade, but still..

    Uncomfortable.
