  1. Get back on the bus, that was pants.

We missed Kamara massively tonight.  We had no-one in the middle to get the ball from Konsa when he was in advanced positions, so much so, they stopped pressing him towards the end, knowing he can't beat a man and put a cross in.

We've absolutely given that away with the goals conceded.

Carlos for the first, Lenglet trying to dribble out of his own 6 yard box and giving a shit corner, then coming off McGinn's knee and sitting up nicely for the worst striker in the world to get his 1000+ min goal.

The third Carlos jumping in leg first to a shot Emi would easily have saved.

Really, really poor from defence today, Moreno came on an looked poor.

Digne getting injured because of no flag for an obvious offside..

Jesus that's an annoying as shit game.

  2. It could be useful, but the way it's being implemented is completely wank.

The on field refs are scared to do anything, so often don't because they have the comfort blanket of VAR.

The biggest fall down is that the system is being operated by an equally incompetent team of people (as we've heard from the "matey mate mate" sound footage of their first official **** up).

I love the European implementation of offside checking, it's fast and sleek, why can't we have that?

Half of the goals being chalked off because of fouls, like the Everton one today, are nonsense.  It's barely a foul, never mind a clear and obvious mistake by the on field refs.. goal should have stood.

We've seen 2 penalties not given for handball in 24 hours (Baldock and Oodegard).

It's just not fit for purpose and it's actually taking way more out of football than it is currently putting into it.  At least before VAR you could say "well the ref only had one look at it, in real time", now we have 5-10% of an actual game being studied whilst players muscles cool dow, potentially risking more injuries, the crowd fall flat because they don't know whether to celebrate and whatnot and the refs seem even more inculpable than they ever have done.

    It's just really shit.

Until they can use it properly, **** it off.

I think we need to move the ball a bit quicker and we’ll get the breakthrough. It’s tough trying to breakdown these teams whose sole intention is to defend deep.

This is the best point I've seen, raise the tempo a touch, be braver in the passes, and we'll be golden 👊

  4. The only time to start panicking in a game like this, is if it's 0-0 after 85 mins.

Chill out.  They maybe should have as a booking or 2, but who gives a shit?

We're dominating a team who 5 years ago had Billy bastard Sharp score a hattrick against us.

We'll get a few more chances, Unai will make any necessary changes, try and enjoy this.  It doesn't get any better than the situation we're in, so try and enjoy it. 🥰

  5. Think Sheff will be a good game for him.  They're not the most athletic team and JJ's natural atheltism might help him out in the game.

Also, it'll be a traditional British way of playing football against Sheff Utd, which I think will leave large gaps for JJ to take advantage of.

  6. Like everyone, I like Matty.

I have recently found myself questioning his role in the team and have noticed some progressive passes not being taken and him taking the safe route by going backwards, which can halt our progression.

That said, I also remind myself that I thought McGinn had definitely reached his ceiling as a middling Prem midfielder towards the end of Gerrard's time, and he's now one of the best players in the Premier League.

Sometimes things can change and I think Matty has definitely earnt that time.  Ultimately, if there's something he's not doing Unai and the coaches want him to, it'll be coached to him.

  8. Thought he had a decent game.

You can tell 2 things; He was desperate for his goal and after he scored it, he seems much more relaxed.

First half was mixed, a few times he tried to blast past his man, but overhit the ball and it went out for a goal kick.  Cash is quite slow at picking a ball sometimes (maybe part of the plan) and didn't make many risky forward passes, which meant a few occasions he had Zani and Diaby looking at his with distain

Once he got his goal, he kept things simple and was more metronomic in his passing, which gives us a better rhythm.  And judging from a few performances last night, some of our non-first team players held onto the ball longer than they should have, meaning opponents could get into position quicker and essentially lock us down.

But yea, really glad for him - the next task is scoring the winner from the bench in a Prem game, that's when we'll start to see him fully integrate.

At the moment though, he does have a list of reasons as to why he's not at his best, I just hope we get to see that before the season ends so we can make a proper judgement on him.
