  1. You really are a glass half empty type of person aren't you. UTV
  2. I can't vote for anyone. A win over United at Old Trafford and up to third. Everyone who played, the subs who didn't the manager and the staff all deserve 10. We're the pride of Birmingham!!!
  3. Its my first time at Portsmouth. Is there a local pub for away fans and where is it in relation to the away end?
  4. Official Coaches leaving at 2.30. God knows what time they plan to get there
  5. General - Thanks to everyone for today. It was my Grandsons first visit to VP - its been a bit of a battle with his other Granddad to turn him to the good side of the force, i.e. not a Nose. He had a great time and will soon be enjoying his first Villa match v Bolton. Thanks again and UTV
  6. General - bought my grandson his first Villa kit from the club shop today and I thnk that there is a potential training issue which could also be a Trading Standards one to. I took my 10% discount voucher to the counter and the staff member serving me at first said I couldn't get the ST discount as well. However I pointed out that I was purchasing a full priced item and the voucher said that ST holders would get 20% discount. Having accepted this she was told by another member of staff that she had been told (I guess by the manager) to apply the 10% sales discount first and then apply the 10% ST discount on the discounted price, so instead of £7 I was going to get £6.65 discount or 19% discount. I again pointed out that this was incorrect and at this point she had to bring over a senior member of staff (again I assume the manager), who also seemed to find it difficult to understand that the method that the staff had been told to apply would not result in 20% being applied. Now I know in my case it does not amount to much in cash terms, and the mistake was corrected, but I made my purchase about 15minutes before kick-off. If this had been going on from when the shop opened, then potentially several hundred customers would have been overcharged. Again in total cash terms not a lot but reputationally if some one realises that they have been overcharged damaging, and as I said at the outset clearly a training issue for the shop staff. One other point, as I said I bought a shirt but the sales staff did not ask if I wanted to purchase any name printing (I only found out I needed to pay for this at the point of purchase when I went to the printing desk). Again if this is common practice amongst shop staff the club is potentially losing custom. Hope you don't mind me raising this with you.
  7. James Milner says "**** off don't read the thread then"!!
  8. James Milner was asked to play the role of Mr Blonde in Reservoir Dogs, but thought cutting the ear off a copper before trying to set him alight wasn't hard enough!!
  9. James Mulner invented the following: Chips & Gravy The Internet The Bicycle Kick (Sorry Doug) The internal Combustion Engine and Time Travel he is also a Prime Number and if you convert the letters in his name into numbers you get Pi and 42 (the answer to life, the universe and everything)
  10. General - Just been on the Wolves Fans website and saw a great idea for an end of season/pre season match for charity Villa v Wolves. Maybe even get a vets game in before hand and get Spinksy and McInally involved. I know it may not fit in with MoN's plans but it would be a good way to remember him.
  11. On season tickets already purchased, VAT is applicable at the point of sale, so the club will not benefit from increased revenue on the 25,000 or so ST's already sold. If the club chooses not to pass on the VAT cut on the sale of future tickets (i.e. those sold after 1st December) on a £30 ticket the club will benefit by about 0.56p so on the remainder of the season, assuming walk up sales of 10,000 tickets per game and based on 12 league and 5 more cup games (yes I am optimisitc) this would equate to about £95k in additional ticket revenue.
  12. I'd be happy for him to stay. I don't have to like a villa player as long as he gives his all for the club. If he did stay and it looked like he was just going through the motions then may opinion would change. But at the mo he's the sort of quality we need so yes happy for him to remain at VP
  13. Am I happy - yes absolutely. I've bought my first season ticket for 15 years and looking forward to a bright future under RL/MoN. I'm annoyed about the way Barry has acted all this summer. If he wants to go then put it in writing officially, not in the papers and forego your £2m. I'm also a bit confused about what taking the next step forward means for some people. For a lot it seems to be challenging for 4th this coming season. Well on last years points that 17 we've got to make up and thats a big ask. I'd much rather consolidate and have a couple of seasons around 5-7th place. and then look to build on that. Stability and strength not boom or bust. Yes we need to build the squad, but remember all those clubs who finished below us last year had bigger squads, specialist positions filled, yet Villa still finished above the majority of the Premier League. Now I know that means nothing for the coming season but it also shows that there is no such thing as a guarantee in football. UTV til I die.
  14. General - where you off to for your summer vacation?
  15. His name is Desie Bremner he came from Hibernian He came down to Villa Park and made his home in Brum He's the greatest No. 7 the world has ever seen And if you don't believe us come and see our team La La La La - the bremner fan club - the greatest in the land!
  16. General. I too am sorry that some people may be unable to afford to renew ST's for next season, but given that prices have been held for the last couple of seasons, I do think that people can't have their cake and eat it. Villa tickets are in demand and when demand starts to surpass supply the cost comes with a Premium. I think people would be up in arms if tickets started to be sold through secondary sources and the club missed out on that revenue. Now I have put over my thoughts my question. I do not have a season ticket at present, but want one for next season. Given that after current holders have had the chance to renew and the needs of those on the waiting list will be catered for next, what chance is there that people such as I wil a) be able to secure a ST & one in their area of choice (I'd like Holte lower please). Thanks for all you and Randy have done for the club to date.
  17. Can we replace all references to Blues and Birmingham with Small Heath. Remind them where they really belong.
  18. Thought I'd change a couple of words and emphasis. Hope you don't mind
  19. I know why people are dissappointed at the moment, but when you se the Y on Y comparison, and ignore the performances of late for a while, its still bloody amazing that we are 14pts, 18 goals and 7 places better off.
  20. Its the End of the World as We Know it - REM - Seems appropriate today somehow.
  21. The underlying basis of an English football club is community and locality. Its great fans in other countries follow Villa but as I would not expect the raiders to leave their home to play in front of me and leave their own fans behind I would not expect my club who I love with as much passion as my own family (but in a slightly different way) to do the same.
  22. General - I'm sorry that your worthy method of communication is becoming a single issue thread but this proposal strikes at the very heart of what English Football is all about. A local club playing in its local area supported (in the main) by local fans. I am surprised that Randy would consider it as to me its one step removed from what the Browns went through when they relocated to another US city. Terrible idea there, terrible idea here
