So Emi openly stated Aston Villa did not even do their research and had no clue...

Again. It's really poor from the club but Emi should absolutely not go public with that.

I don't understand this.  Why should the club be looking into the requirements of what Emi needs to do/have done for something which is happening while away with his county?  All we need to care about is what happens when he returns surely?  This is the responsibility of the AFA to look into, not Villa.

  2. So my boss who is a fulham season ticket holder is convinced that Anguissa is coming to us after he was left out of their squad on the weekend and apparently that's what all their ITK people are saying (although a late bid from Arsenal is being rumoured).

I thought this might have been a decent signing for DM, but my boss tells me that he isn't suited to that role and he is far more attacking. Did everyone else realise that or was it just me that thought he was a DM?

  3. Really hope he is fit and ready for the watford game. Those first few games are winnable and would get the ball rolling nicely. We don't want to drop points against teams that we will look at towards the end of the season and say "how did we not bear them?!"

  4. Expectations for me should be a top half finish with a decent run in both cups. We aren't going to get champions league and shouldn't be fighting off relegation so there is no reason not to go strong in the cups.

As for wants rather than expectations, I'd be really happy if we could get top 8 and get to at least the quarter finals in the FA cup and the semi final/final of the league cup (but realise that completely depends on the draws).

Good idea for a thread and it's something I've thought about myself.

Is it worth editing your post and putting the ist in alphabetical order (of country) and then adding in the names as and when someone comments? Could turn into a really good reference list then!

Watkins has already had an England call up and scored. C & B specs aside he's probably top 3-4 English strikers already, and that's after one season in the prem.

For me he's well past potential, the question is how quickly he can move to elite (20+ goals a season) level.

I really think he will hit 20 goals this season.  I've got no basis what so ever for that other than gut instinct, but I think he is going to really kick on again this year

I have a problem with the idea of us using raw pace. How often is it we utilize our fastest players raw pace? Not often last season. We haven't utilised Trez speed and acceleration much because we're to slow at counters, see Liverpool as an example. We were likelightning and teams couldn't deal with us first half of last season, then we just hit a wall with using pace and acceleration to point we looked slow and lethargic. We had Sanson come in, extremely fast and at his old club they utilised him in counters, we didn't do that one bit with him. I am scared we won't even get to see Bailey's raw speed, sprint power, Acceleration because we are to slow on counters. Our controlling game make for a less running about game also, same with long balls, unless were going to be playing more long balls to Bailey or lengthy crosses to start runs we just won't see Bailey's speed much.

I'd like to see our game change slightly to accommodate the faster players of our squad like the 3 I mentioned.

Would Emi not help with this?  we now have some one who could play a longer ball which wouldn't necessarily be hit and hope?  Even if that first ball is initially played into Watkins, I'm assuming that Bailey would then have the pace to break out quickly to join in the attack and potentially help create a 2v2 or overload attack?

It might also be part of a bigger picture plan of where we want to break out quicker hence why someone like Sanson has also been brought in, its just Dean and the guys haven't maybe felt we've had enough players with the right attributes to make it works yet? I'm not saying it is, I'm just trying to see how all the pieces in the puzzle fit together

It was only last summer they rejected the bid.

was it really?  Christ that feels like 3 years ago!

How foolish were they not accepting £70m for him?  Never worth that kind of money

A lot seems to be going right for them since Gardner was parachuted into the role as Technical Director, academy awarded category 1 status, what looks like some potentially sensible signings inJordan Graham, Ryan Woods, Chuks Aneke, Tahith Chong, Familia-Castillo, and today Dion Sanderson on loan, as well as Gary Gardner extending his contract. In previous seasons where we've thought things look bad for them surely they're going to go down this time and they haven't so maybe this season it will be the opposite.

Have they actually signed Chong?  I'm sure he played and scored against Derby at the weekend for Man U?

  10. I put a new extension on my house and struggled to get any internet in it.  The Tv kept disconnecting from the Wifi and my phone would keep dropping out from it too.

I put in two TP-link Deco M5's (1 in the router and one plugged in, in the extension) and its solved everything! I couldn't be happier with it.   It took me about 5 minutes in total to set up too which was a bonus.  You can also just keep adding to it too, so if you need a few more its dead easy to add on.
