  1. Does any one else find they get a bad lower back when they do road running? I did about half a mile today before i had to stop running due to the pain. Any one else get this? any thing i can do to stop it from hurting?

I'd book in at a physio fella, or some sort of back pain specialist.

I get similar lower back pain myself when running (well i used to anyway). Sometimes it was worse than others.

It's all about posture and body dynamics. But if left untreated, lower back pain when exercuising can lead to other conditions like groin problems, knee problems and achilles problems (and i've had all 3 of these!).

treatment and special stretches for the back and lower limbs will see you OK.

I've rested it for the last couple of days so i'll go out again tonight and see how it feels, and if i am still struggling i will probably follow this advice. I've already got really bad knees so i couldnt deal with more problems!

    cheers :)

  3. I'm going to take up running in attempt to get a bit fitter to try to up my game on the footie pitch. I'm really quite unfit and i am meant to be playing CM!

I know i can some times lack motivation so i've signed myself up for the great south run (10 miles i think). I've decided to start slowly and just try jogging for a mile for now. Using that jogwalkrun site i've managed to find a nice route by my house that is just 1.14 miles long. i've got the potential for loads of different routes round by me too so it shouldnt become too boring by doing the same run over and over again.

I think the 1 mile will kill me to start off but we'll see! i'm hoping to run it 3 times a week.

Does this sound like a good plan to start off with to those with the experience?

Yes, it's perfect. Keep us posted.

well i'm liking my route so far, however i am struggling to do it more than twice a week at the moment. I seem to be so sore afterwards that it takes a fair few days before i feel i can run again Apart from stretching what else can i do to ease the pain?

  5. I've just gotten into reading in the last couple of months. I've started actually taking a lunch break at work instead of working straight through it.

As i've not really got any where to go on my break and i kinda need to stick around my desk area any way incase any one rings with an important call, i've begun sitting here with a good book.

I'm currently loving the discworld series. only read 2 of them (currently on my 3rd) but i really enjoy them. I had a feeling i would after watching the two things that sky did on them.

  6. Not quite true, dont forget he played in Moscow!

Very true. People say we lost because of the team we put out & while there is a huge element of truth in that, the fact is Albrighton/Bannan did us proud

I agree, they were very impressive in that game and didnt look out of place, especially when you compared them to some of the performance that the 'senior' players put in.

  7. General,

Me and my dad are one of the lucky few who have won entry into the holte hotel before the game tomorrow and i just wanted to say thanks for giving us the oportunity to be able to sample the delights of this place on match day!

We are not season ticket holders so this was the only way it would have been possible for us. We are delighted!

    Cheers!!

  8. BOF gives his thoughts on one of the stars of Villa's Peace Cup victory.

For me (and I suspect most people who watched the Peace Cup), the most outstanding outfield performance throughout the competition came from a previously little-known winger who hadn't even made his senior debut before landing in Malaga.

    Step up Marc Albrighton.

Marc would only have been seen by reserve team spectators

Not quite true, dont forget he played in Moscow!

  9. I would do it if i had a second one to give, i was born with only one functioning Kidney but have never got the other one taken out.

I give blood, i am on the bone marrow transplant list and so i would of been more than willing to give up a kidney if i had one going. I've also done a bit of charity work for the kidney research foundation, and i really do think Kidney problems are some thing that alot of people overlook.

You can function fine with just the one kidney, i go out drinking every weekend and havent really had a problem with it. That said i could see why some one might be afraid of giving a kidney, but i'd think it was worth it safe in the knowledge you had just saved some ones life.

  10. General,

I missed the kick off and 10 minutes of the game last night due to the heavy rush hour traffic, this meant by the time i got to the ground all the programme stalls had shut, will they be sold in the club shop (mainly asking for after the chelsea game) like the others were so i can still pick up a copy? I will be gutted that i wont be able to lay my hands on one because of traffic!

Also can we never play another 7pm game again?? I am sure i was not the only one to miss kick off despite leaving an extra 1 and half hours early to get to the ground! Its just a nightmare having to try to get across the country in rush hour

Edit - Also forgot to add, thanks alot for the flags i thought they were a great touch and made villa park look stunning last night :thumb:

  11. sausage, mash and beans! awesome dinner.

or my personal favourite...cheese and baked bean pizza. Which is as it sounds:

1)get a pizza base from tesco or where ever put a tin of beans on it

2)Allow to cook for 15 mins in the oven

3)spread grated cheese over it and put back in the oven for another 5 mins

4)Serve with a bit of fruity sauce on it.

  12. Just do a Google images search on Marge Simpson with the content filter turned off. NSFW !!!

Nor is that one pic of louis! nearly had a heart attack as my boss started to wonder over just as i was scrolling past that part :S

  13. General,

I'm hoping to bring my Under 10 youth football side up from Cheltenham to watch a match at VP and maybe hopefully get them a tour of the stadium. I wanna make the day as good as possible for two reasons

    a) most of them are fans of the big four but have never been to a premiership ground, if i brought them to VP maybe it would encourage one or two of them to switch to supporting our great club. I mean they are at the right sort of age that we want to get involved in the club now as they have their whole life ahead of them! And also the more the merrier right?

    B) I'd just like to treat them for all their efforts, they are not getting on too well in their league at the moment so it might also give them a bit of inspiration.

Obviously there would need to be a certain number of adults who would have to monitor the kids as well right?

Who would be the best person for me to email/phone for info on how to organise this? would Nicky Keye be my best bet?

  14. personally i thought ridgewell had one of his poorer performances, i felt he didnt show the form he has been showing the rest of the season of far. I aint having a pop at him there i just felt hes better than what he showed last night, maybe it was just my view from the holte? maybe i'm just expecting too much of the poor lad?

Bouma was fantastic last night, glad he had a good game as for some reason or another i like the chap!

I think in general tonight showed we are not far away, we just need some one to create some chances for us and for gabby to work on his final ball.
