Aggreed, but id hazard a guess this is the case in most top flight players contracts, but Id hazard a guess its the case in most players contracts, so Its either join in the rat race, or never sign a player. At the end of the day, no club starts the season thinking theyre going to be relegated either. At least these clauses cover eyeryone. Player gets easier route out. If they stay, club doesn't get impacted on massive wages. If he leaves, Club get fee which probably gets their money back. Win Win I say

To be fair, this would be normal practice. The players probably wouldn't have joined us or accepted the 50% reduction in wages upon relegation without an easier route out should they have the option.

I personally think that was RDM using the media in a bit of gamesmanship. RDM obv knew what was coming has put that in the press as a way of forcing Clark's hand. Firstly, it might make him think about staying and make it harder to leave, Secondly, if he decided to take up the Newcastle offer it looks like hes turned his back on Villa after claiming to want to stay............

the thing is with the wages, yes players are on big wages at Villa. But anyone who has signed for us in the last two years, or signed a contract extension in the last two years have a 50% wage cut built into their deals. Hence the players agent will have negotiated a lower get out clause to help them find a club that can get them back to the salary they wanted............. what I'm trying to say is, say for example Amavi signed for us on £40k per week, which is too big for the championship, he will now be on £20k per week, which is about right for a top earner in that league........... and sustainable for us for the nxt two years with parachute payments..........

I agree. I think the issue weve got is, if the players we want to shift don't ask for a move then we are contractually obliged to pay up the remainder of their contracts. Id say in the case of Guzan, it will be a case of negotiation between the club to say, we wont ask a fee, but you gotta waive whats entitled to you, enabling you an easier route to another club................... I cant see the majority of the players agreeing to it............whod walk away from millions

Personally, I think we will start slow and sluggish but come 2nd half of the season, start to really pick up, make a late break for the playoffs or even Automatic Promotion................. Play Off Winners I'm Predicting........... What a way to go up........... As for the squad. I'm in two minds. one part says, wed be better off getting rid of everyone and starting again, the other side says, with some careful confidence building, a few solid additions to add to the dressing room then we've got enough to challenge at the top.
