    my thought is he brings something to the group we havent got - he wont play every game, but i think hed play predominantly off the left, or come in to play in and around watkins for some games Also, when we have the personnel, Unai could change things up for certain games - he plays the way we play now as those are the players hes got - he wants to be flexible for certain games Barnes would find a place and wed find a place for him

    Yeah, I like Barnes, also, proven, should hit the ground running from Day 1 as well..... give us that option of pace, width and goals from wide, can drop in either side or even centrally - think hed fit nicely..........

Emery is a massive fan, Emery wants a winger Arsenal have got Martinelli and now Trossard Man U got Rashford Liverpool signed Gakpo and got Luiz Chelsea signed Mudryk can see his options diminishing for one of the top clubs over here, tottenham, newcastle, Villa ??     With my tin hat at the ready, Lescott wasnt that bad for us and had a few good games, but was literally the only defender who didnt have "Alf Garnett word" status at the club that season.............. i remember, think it was Southampton away, and newcastle at home he was good, but literally had Guzan behind him, and okore with him - they were that bad they could make McGrath look shit.............. a shit era at the club made him look worse than he actually was Micah Richards, what a disaster.......... firstly hes got knees made of shredded wheat - but if hed come in and just played right back, hed have been OK - never had the mental capacity to be a centre half at any level

    I agree in recent times, but by & large certainly in my era - Villa always had good goalkeepers..... Spink, Bozzie, James, Schmeichel, Friedel, Martinez and to a lesser extent Sorensen, Johnstone were all steady for the level we were at at the time we had them...… Given would have been a good signing if it wasn't for the club trying to force his hand top get his contract off the books...........

    I fully agree with this, I think first season Martinez was excellent, but the last two seasons not been as good...…. I think in the typical villa manner the fact he seems a likeable bloke masks the fact he is not infallible and has cost us points along the way That said, are Villa going to be able to get or attract an equivalent or better GK - I doubt it...….. so I think were in a good position with Martinez as a club, long contract so if he were to go, Id say wed want a world record fee for a keeper which would be great business...…. the flipside of that is, there only a handful of clubs who could afford a world record fee for a goalkeeper, and they're all sorted for a no1 keeper...… maybe with the exception of Chelsea who if you believe the tabloids are potentially in the market for a no1 keeper For me, if he goes, on our terms, its far from the end of the world.... who, hypothetically, could replace Emi...….. Bounou, Kepa, Meslier, Henderson maybe.....

    If were after proven goalscorer, id try and tempt Firminho, whos out of contract in the summer so could be available cut price or free. Hes what 30, so wed get at least a good 2 peak seasons from him............ think hes about the best we could get realistically As a wildcard, id look at Belotti off the bench as well - we miss a good old fashioned target man who can get his head on the ball in the box.........
